As I have mentioned here previously, the only time the price matters is if it stops us from getting another target. If we pay 100M or 120M for Sancho, it doesn't matter because we were not going to get another of our targets for that 20M difference. I have also said I think we are getting 1 or 2 players in, and we are going to have a budget of around 150M - as we have had in recent years when the need to get back into the CL was as pressing as the need to compete for titles. If our two targets are going for 100M and 50M, or 110M and 60M, it's really not much of a difference to the Glazers. We are *not* signing two players for 100M each. So if, like Maguire, we spend all goddamn summer haggling over 5M, and end up paying it anyway, all we have done is harm our chances of bedding the players in and settling the squad early.
