Home workout recommendations

I had every intention to workout during lockdown. I’ve looked at my dumbbells a few times, I have watched my wife do some yoga. There has been lots of watching, not much working out.

Every day I tell myself go for a run or do a circuit session after work but every night nothing happens I was doing alright on furlough but since I've been back I've done nothing.

I like sleep to much to get up early and do anything before starting work.

New plan starts Monday ;)

Fair enough guys, I have no moral high ground here. I probably need it more than the rest of you. When that's the case it's probably easier to find the motivation, especially in the present situation.

I am dreading getting back to football again. I haven't done anything since lockdown started!

I go for a 45 minutes to an hour walk with the dog every day that's my exercise regime not going to make much of a difference to my overall fitness or help lose weight without drastically cutting calories but it's something I guess.

Well I am about to come in for some stick here. The last 10 days or so I have been going for up to 3.5hr hikes in the Chiltern hills to help shed the pounds. I see hardly anyone so I don't feel it puts me or anybody else at risk.

Don’t see any reason for stick there. You aren’t seeing people or causing any problems. All about common sense. If you were in London going for a 3 and a half hour stroll would be silly.

Think they have said they don't want people going to places where you might need rescue if you get into a bit of trouble so I guess it depends on how risky the conditions are.

People are 100% pushing the limits on the exercise I've seen posting that they've been out on 50km bike rides and sh*t like that which feels a bit mad.

I racked up 9 miles the other day. Going to start doing intermittent run/walk next week now that the legs and lungs are gaining strength

Yes, strictly speaking I shouldn't be doing it but I was going insane indoors as well as getting a bit anxious and paranoid at the slightest hint of a symptom. So I need a mental health boost. And it works.
And yes there is plenty of cycling going on. The regular cyclists are obviously loving having so much of the roads to themselves.

Insanity is a really good one. If you have much home equipment then some crossfire workouts are good to do.

Have started running again in the last few weeks wouldn't say I like it yet but I don't hate it in the way I did when I started.

It's snail pace stuff doing about 4km in about 25 minutes at the moment but it is better than nothing.

I got my bike out again, but it is so hilly around here, it's painful.

I also ran last week but my knees and back said no.

I am looking forward to a couple of PS4 games coming. I've been playing modern warfare but it's getting a bit dull.

Last of us 2
PGA tour 2k21

How lucky have we been with the weather during lockdown though. It’s been beautiful for the most part. Was talking to a friend yesterday and imagine how much more difficult it would have been if this was November, freezing cold and dark by 4.

could be a bit of soothsaying there :D

For those of us with back gardens and some outdoor space it's been great for the 3 weeks I was furloughed spent a couple of hours a day out in the sunshine but the sun being out does make you want to be outside more enjoying the beer garden with friends. Can't imagine how those stuck in small cramped city centre flats in say London would have coped with it.

Looking forward to firing up the BBQ again on Sunday even if it's just me and the mrs the fridge is fully stocked and I'm looking forward to a break from work.

Well, it feels like it has taken a long time, but today I hit the milestone of 17-7lbs, that's 1 stone shed in lockdown.
I can now tell that it will need another stone shedding to get to where I want to get to so need to keep it up.
Hope some of you are also managing to reach your lock down aspirations.
Well, I lost my motivation for a couple of weeks but managed to maintain at 17-7lb until I got back in the swing. So I have shed another 7lb in the last ten days by a combination of a regular 9 mile hike in the Chiltern hills, some dumbell work and a daily approx 1500 calorie diet.
So now at 17-0 and feeling good. I now need to shed the final 7lb to reach my target of sheding 2 stone to get to 16.5 stone while furloughed. Don't think I have been that weight for 10 years.

I've basically managed to maintain weight went into lockdown just over 14 stone still at just over 14 stone which I'm pretty happy about.

Top work @Shoot keep it up and they won't recognise you when you're back at work... better check to make sure the work kit still fits

Weight grrrrr.

I've got a back problem so difficult to exercise. My ideal weight is 80kg, I was 85 but now I'm 87kilo

I'm a little over 5 11"

I've been drinking in lockdown and eating choc! My specialist no doubt will tell me off. Although I think I might need some treatment hence the need for choc :-D

I missed some replies here as I wasn't looking in so much due to that fanny that was posting on here.

It's funny you should say that. Over a number of weeks I was cursing my backpack because on occasions I was having to adjust the straps and thinking they were slipping. Only yesterday it occurred to me that I was actually having to tighten them because I no longer needed so much strap :D
Yesterday evening I was in all the drawers and wardrobes getting out all the clothes I had refused to throw away over a period of about 4-5 years, always telling myself I was going to diet back into them but never did. This includes new stuff that I bought with the same promise at the time. Suddenly, I have a whole new wardrobe and I am much happier when I look in the mirror.
I am pleased I have found this positive in this bad time and I have no intention of going back to being overweight and unfit.

Well done Shoot. I was actually wondering this morning if 1500 cals fills you up?
It is something you get used to, not easy at first.
Don't eat after 7pm or before 10 or 11am. You are in your bed most of that so you should find the willpower not to eat for that 15-16hr period.
I have found myself only eating around 400Kcal in the early part of the day before going for my hike. By the time I get back home I will actually be calorie deficient for the day at that point. I can have a substantial evening meal as much as 1100Kcal. Of course, it is much to do with what you put on your plate as well, the type of food etc! I have taken a great liking to turkey breast and veggie's
The toughest part is alcohol, it sets you back when you decide to have a drink. Especially for folk like me, when I decide to have a drink I have a drink. I don't have a glass of wine, I have 2 bottles :p

I am 6ft 1" and cannot imagine myself under 16.5 stone

Many years ago I reached my biggest just over 17st managed to lose 5 stone in about a year once you make the changes and get in a rhythm and routine you do stick to it. You’ll be surprised what you can achieve as long as you are enjoying it. Like you say sensible things like not eating after you’ve had your tea and I always found slowly decreasing your calories helped small adjustments week by week made it feel more sustainable.

Always allowed myself a cheat day once a week but 6 days of eating sensibly and getting in plenty of exercise the weight flies off. A lot of it for me was around that time I discovered podcasts so I’d just set myself up on a cross trainer in the gym and smash out 30 minutes then built it up to an hour.

A few years ago, I had high cholesterol. I bought a recipe book online, not really a proper low cholesterol diet, but foods that help bring down your cholesterol. I ate only from that for 2 or 3 months and lost maybe 1.5st. and it brought my cholesterol down. Mind you it wasn't exactly high.

I can post a link if anyone is interested.

it just looks blank to me, not sure why it wont let me post it.

ok think I fixed it.
