Greenwood in big trouble

Right now I have to be honest it is hard to give a stuff about his career. It is a waste of course because he was a huge talent and this ultimately changes the landscape for United in the summer. But this kid is a complete d bag if what he's accused of doing is true. They should lock him up and throw away the key.
Of course he's an absolute bag of sh!te, but it's still a waste of a career. To have someone with so much talent, Alan Shearer said he expected him to beat his prem goals record. I think it's ok to say it's a waste of a talent. That is not condoning his actions.

Been at united since 6, maybe they need to add some different classes to their youth coaching.

does this mean we should delete all our posts?

I think the posts here are ok but it's a handy reminder to all to be careful what you write about on this topic there's no harm talking about what has been reported but it's best now to avoid any speculation about it until after the trial.

In this case the victim also has the right to a lifetime of anonimity which is tricky because she posted the evidence online herself as far as we know so it's important that everyone treads carefully.

Her father said her account was hacked, although I have only seen one paper say that

Yeah I think our posts are fine but definitely think before you post. Anything in the media is fine to comment on but refrain from speculating or making accusations before all the facts are well known.

Her father said her account was hacked, although I have only seen one paper say that

The Daily Mail posted some quotes from her father in an online article.

When Greenwood was arrested all the quotes form her father were removed from the article.

One of the quotes did suggest her phone had been hacked but it wasn't totally clear if this was before or after the posts were made online and he did follow up by saying this is now all in the hands of the police.

Why do we think the police needed more time to conduct investigations ?

I think these are the things we need to be careful about posting about by the way basically we shouldn't speculate about what happened you can only talk about what has been reported and made public.

GMP said in a statement on Monday afternoon: “Detectives have been granted additional time to speak to a man in his 20s who is being held on suspicion of rape and assault of a woman.

“Inquiries are ongoing and the victim is being offered specialist support. We remind people to avoid any commentary or sharing of images that could compromise the victim’s right to lifelong anonymity, or risk prejudicing a live investigation with active proceedings.”

It's the Sun, so........., they are saying he's been arrested twice more, not sure how that works, they also mention threats to kill

So what do we think the account being hacked means? If that's true of course. Does this mean this is potentially a false report?

All it means is her father gave an interview to the press mentioning that she said her phone was hacked prior to the arrest something he shouldn’t have done. It’s also something we shouldn’t really speculate about either.

We don’t know anymore about the context of the time the hack happened or if it happened at all.

We won’t know any more information until it reaches a courtroom as from this point on no one is allowed to talk about it and if they do the media can’t report it.

The fact he’s been arrested on further charges could suggests further evidence has been found or further statements made. It’s standard practise in these cases for phones to be handed over and their messages will be being checked for evidence.

The fact fellow footballers teammates are unfollowing him says it's highly likely to me it's definitely his voice. They'd know what he sounds like.

I would imagine most of these players have PR teams who manage the social media pages I imagine these firms will be the ones who unfollowed Greenwood rather than the players directly.

Doubt any of them would be silly enough to try and show some solidarity with him over this I imagine the clubs HR department were on to all players and staff quickly to advise them against posting anything in relation to the case including contacting Greenwood.

Going to be a strange press conference before the boro game I assume a statement will be read out as he can’t answer any questions on it.

Journalist will have been briefed not to ask questions on it. Had a beer after work and a Liverpool fan tried to abuse me for it and I was like not the time or incident to use to stoke club rivalries.

I struggle between thinking we need to still go with innocent til proven guilty and lock him up and throw the key away. I couldn't listen to the recordings until the end. They're sickening and seeing my partner's reaction to them only enhanced that.

Such a shame that fans have to try and use club rivalries in this. This is a time for football to unite against this kind of thing.

Someone in the office the other day was doing similar and I just shut it down basically said I'm not interested in talking about it just think about what might have happened to that girl.

You just can't even imagine what she might have been through over the past few years based on what has come out.

There's parents up and down the country having to explain this to young kids who will have looked up to someone like Greenwood and wanted to follow in his footsteps and play for Man Utd.

I played it to my wife and eldest daughter Sunday morning (to try and highlight if it ever happens to her it's not ok) and same, they were absolutely shocked.
My eldest daughter wants to be a lawyer to fight for women in cases like this, going to look at uni this weekend.

Fans with Greenwood shirts can swap them for free.

Fans with Greenwood shirts can swap them for free.

Is that only shirts purchased through the club website or will all suppliers offer this?

Asking for a friend I haven't bought a Utd shirt in years.

Time sure does fly. I can't believe she'll be off in September.
Youngest has her Brevet (GSCE equivalent) this year

He has now been officially dropped by Nike following the initial suspension.

any news on this yet? all seems a bit quiet.

The reason is they can't report on it until there is any news, the only statement the club have put out since he was suspended was last season when rumours circulated of his imminent return.

As things stand he's still on bail and under investigation and he will be until the police either drop their investigation or proceed with charges. He's technically a free man but he's suspended from work due to potential safeguarding concerns and he's probably sat at home on full pay.

He could be in that position for a long time but I'd say there is 0% chance of him being back next season if ever.

The police can just keep extending it as far as I'm aware if the investigation is on going as the conditions of bail probably just mean he's had to surrender his passport so he can't leave the country.

I wonder what will happen if the case is dropped, I mean we heard it, can they really keep him.

I don’t think he can come back even if it is dropped they likely look to cancel his contract by mutual consent.

I know football clubs can be very forgiving but not sure in 2022 a club could allow a player to get away with this as if he came back he would need to explain what actually happened.

He has a bail extension hearing on 23rd June it's a private hearing so we will get an another update next week with the outcome.

I expect if his bail is extended due to the on going investigation then he'll remain suspended if he's released with no charge then who knows where things go.
