Even if we would have won that. The nature of the win would be embarrassing. Progress?? Ole’s got it wrong
 
Shocking game management. Shocking decision to keep De Gea in for shoot out. Ole has hurt United long term by upsetting the long term #1.
 
Yep poor game management, our subs shouldn’t have been on just to take penalties - they needed to freshen up way earlier.

So disappointed, this was there for the taking but we’ve had our pockets picked. Shouldn’t have been getting Telles and Mata on - should have been Henderson for De Gea. Such a poor keeper on penalties!

Absolutely this. This was everything they could've hoped for and then some. Utterly wretched game all around. We were the better side through the 90 min and then lost any attacking threat in extra time. Never felt like we'd be able to win on pens. So frustrated and angry right now.
 
Could have probably put a traffic cone in goal and would have done better!

How many times did De Gea dive even before the ball was hit? Just gave most of them to Villarreal.
 
Re: the subs, not sure who he was supposed to switch. You could argue that he shot his bolt by playing them all in the starting 11, but none of us were saying that before kick off. Someone should've came on for Rashford, but who? Amad possibly? VdB and push Pogba left? If this isn't a screaming example of why we need investment in the summer, I don't know what is.

That goes to Ole. No changes in 90 minutes? I get the United squad isn't the deepest but come on. You've got to freshen things up. Bring some pace and impetus to the game. But hey this is a manager that's out of his depth.

What changes should he have made?
 
They're just a super defensive side, not lost all competition and conceded 2 or something daft. Everything we can't play against and our transfers need to resolve that.
Their keeper got a hand on 3 or 4. De gea none
