Next manager

Yes but I think they’ll only change if the right man is available. If the guy they want isn’t available I think they might see how things play out with him next season but he will need to buy into the new hierarchy and probably give up a bit of control.
I could see that but man that’s a risk if he doesn’t necessarily fit what they want?

currently, nothing is saying to me he deserves another season.

Because then you're just changing manager mid season and another one passes you by.

I'll think they'll pull the trigger this summer.

Yeah it's a risk but feels like they'll just be buying time.

This mess isn't going to be fixed over night, sounds like it's back to square one with new directors making decision and none of them are able to start until the summer.

Next season could be another season where everyone is still finding their feet. They might decide it's best to just stumble along with Ten Hag through that transition process then bring the new guy in once it's settled down a bit.

Don't see them wasting the whole of next season on ETH if they know now they don't want him. SJR is hardly a spring chicken and wasting time won't be his plan.

I thought he was past it until yesterday. But we were flexible against Forrest. Obviously needs Rasmus to be 100% fir and Martinez and Shaw too. I thought our players were too nervous in their passing and mostly were refusing to make a pass unless 200% certain. Many a times space was there but they did not pass to midfield. They should learn to trust their team mates to keep the ball under pressure. Maybe it is something ETH needs to install in the players.

Noticed on Superbru the other day that Bologna were up to 4th in Serie A, and meant to check to see who the Manager was, but forgot, but I did have Spag Bol for my tea ....

I hope they keep ETH and give him one more season at least and get rid of the players who are not putting in 100% effort all the time.

Heard his name doing the rounds as a manager that could be the next big thing.

Always a very smart player these former holding midfielders seem to be the ones who are in fashion at the moment.

Former player so probably makes sense.

He'd be wise to dodge that one, that clubs going nowhere fast.

Xavi I think snuck a league title because Madrid had an off year but now they're back in their redeveloped ground and rebuilding that team again they should be pretty untouchable in that league for a few years.

Tough one. I have lost faith in ETH and no matter how many excuses he makes about our injured players there is no system of playing. He seems reluctant to try to change things during the match or before. We do not have any set pieces and in corners there is no near post flick to the far post though we have many tall players and good headers of the ball.

I think it’s hard to fully judge him with all the injuries but when will that get resolved? it just seems to be the way these days. But again I’ll repeat some of his signings are bad.

Yes he seems to be a decent coach but so was Potter with Brighton. To me his boggiest fault was not getting a player who can control the ball and keep possession. Yes I know that Bruno was not a player he brought. Maybe this was United's biggest problem. Buying Bruno. In hindsight it may have been better if we did not buy him but got someone like Rice.

Yes it was obvious to me anyway that Eriksen would fall well short this season, a hard working midfield dynamo is what we need Rice would have been great, what was he about £10 m more than Antony?

Yes we could have got top three potential players if we had not got Bruno and Antony. Bruno would have been a fantastic player in a Jose team.

we do

Can't even put a decent performace in against Everton. How may did shots did we allow them to get away 23 to our 15.

We were at home to Everton ffs, 50/50 in possession

Really tough watch too.

I am willing to say, 100% he is not our manager next season

Think at this point he's just looking for points over performance.

Tactic to me looked to draw Everton into a blow for blow type of game knowing they're terrible in front of goal, it's very risky but it suits our attackers who will struggle to beat a side if you pin them back near their own box.

As for next season I think he will be replaced in the summer.

Sancho doesent want to return to United while Ten is manager, decision made then keep Ten at all costs.

Doubt any manager is going to want to inherit that issue, I'd say there's a very low chance he's in our squad next season come the end of the transfer window.

My guess is he'll be out on loan somewhere next season.

Would fans really want Southgate over Ten Hag?

Sancho should never play for us again his attitude stinks ten hag bent over backwards to help him and he threw it back in his face because he got a little bit of criticism. He has never had a sustained run of good form and doesn't have any credit with the support.

I feel like Southgate would be brutally exposed as an average manager back in club football, especially at the one of the best clubs in the world. There is not one fibre of me that wants to see him manage us. ETH all the way if it was a straight choice between the two.

There is no way Southgate will get the job - he has less character than ETH and is a worse manager. Never a real story.

Thomas Frank's name being chucked around today.

Guess who we play at the weekend.

He could be a candidate his teams are very well coached but he works on a small budget so there's only so much he can reasonably be expected to achieve with a club like Brentford.

I don't think he's quite ready for this sort of jump up.

Utd need a coach who's experienced at managing a team in European competitions they need to understand how to coach and prepare for 2 games a week.

I don't think there's actually a list at this point anyway I'm pretty convinced they'll be starting next season with ETH.

Love the club to be bold/brave, bring Kieran McKenna back and give him a 6/7 year contract ....

I guess I wouldn't be opposed to another season for ETH if he has a very strong finish to this season and gets us to at least the final of the FA Cup - as we all probably know City will be in the final and that is as tough as it gets and to rule him not winning the cup to them as a big negative wouldn't be very fair. I am starting to think along the same lines though. Makes no sense to just appoint a new manager for the sake of it and whilst I don't think ETH is good enough for us, I'd still opt to keep him over a new manager for the sake of it. The way it's looking atm there isn't any real stand out guy to replace him.

I just fear the players he wants to bring in, as I really don't trust him with that, although he should have a lot less control of that this time around.

Just lazy stuff isn't it? He's not a candidate either. Not even close.
I wouldn’t say he’s not even close. I think he’s an option for United just like he’s an option for Liverpool. He’s not the top candidate and he probably isn’t even top 3 or 5 but I think he’s probably on the list.

Gary O'Neill is the latest to be linked by Mark Ogden who works for ESPN (same guy who broke the Southgate story last week).

It's odd because they talk about him being offered a coaching role within the club.
