Utd reporting to be showing interest in the 17 year old Fulham left back.

Looks like a serious young talent but not sure it's right for him to make the jump to one of the top 6 clubs straight from Fulham unless he realistically thinks he can go straight in as first choice kind of like Delle Alli did even though no one expected him to make the impact he did that quickly.

Seems like he's likely to move this summer but not sure he's someone Mourinho will be targeting

Has been very, very good for Fulham. BUT he has appeared to me at least to have been given absolute free reign to attack and appeared not to need to defend too much at all. Definitely not a JM full back!

Can't say I watched them a lot but when I did it was hard to tell if he was playing LB or LW.

There's some serious potential there but just don't feel like Utd or any top 6 club would be the right place for him to nurture that talent.

He probably needs to get up to the Prem but he'd be much better off going into a club like West Ham, Stoke, Everton, Southampton or Bournemouth. That sort of middle band of clubs where he could be first choice but isn't constantly under the microscope for every mistake made.

I still think we have to persist with Shaw and spend at least another year trying to get him to be the player we need him to be.

In regards either Sessegnon or Shaw, I don't see JM 'coaching' either and is my bugbear with the manager. I think we'll see a LB signed with maybe a backup too, mainly because JM has no patience or connection with a player like Shaw. I feel that with our players the manager has to be able to react to all types, not just the one type. As an example, SAF was able to be a great 'House Master' in that essence, someone like CRon was given arm round the shoulder approach fatherly advice and very little rollicking if what he tried didn't come off. Whereas Giggs whose personality was and is very different was treated less with Kid Gloves and more with Boxing Gloves! JM only seems to know how to handle players who respond to the latter. To me that is disappointing.

Which is why I feel the Sessegnon link is natural in that he tore up the Championship at 17 and should be on a big club radar (loan him back to Fulham for a season) but unrealistic in that JM is unlikely to want to communicate with him unless he will take a battering like a squaddie!

I think Mourinho will give a guy his time if he feels the guy he's coaching is willing to learn his way.

Rashford & Lingard seemed happy to do it.

Martial & Shaw seemed to take more convincing but maybe the message got through.

I think we will sign an experienced LB and Shaw has to fight for his spot.

I don't think either Rashford or Lingard have been coached to a better standard than last season. Which is my point, he'll only 'manage' those who take a beating. Anyone a little more sensitive doesn't even get managed and is thrown under more buses than travel along Waterloo Bridge!

Maybe I'm completely wrong... It wouldn't be the first time and it definitely won't be the last... But I can see this kid ending up as an attacking player rather than a LB. And to be honest I think as a LB he'd be completely wasted.

Possibly. Bale was a LB when he broke through but he wasn't good enough defensively and was he had that pressure removed he went to another level.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking... Plus I just think if a guy is that good going forwards why would you want them having to get all the way back in defense and sometimes have to hold their position.

Difficult these days for left footed wingers to make it as left wingers (or right footers as right wingers) as coaches like their wingers to cut in, which is why we're seeing so many wingers being re-developed as full backs/wing backs.

I don't watch much Championship football and haven't seen Sessegnon play but my understanding is that he's good at defending but is better in attack.

I hunk the games evolving at the moment a back 3 is starting to become more of the norm which frees up full backs from defending. The more defensive minded full backs like Darmian or Azpilecueta become part of the back 3 and the attacking guys basically become wingers. It's interesting to see how long this fad lasts.

Not sure where Bale played in youth team football just assumed he was a LB because that's where he broke in at Southampton.

If Utd went to 3-4-3 it could free Valencia/Shaw to provide the width but it doesn't seem like something Mourinho would go for he's always been a back 4 guy.

Hat-trick tonight in a more left sided attacking role. Granted I haven’t seen a lot of him but he’s getting rave reviews and played a major part for the England U19’s in the summer. While comparisons with Bale are a little premature, this guy can only get better and he’s still only 17.

Seen a few rumours the last few days that we are interested. Obviously it’s standard for papers to link any decent young player with the top clubs but I do hope we are interested. I think he’s going to be a top top player from what I’ve seen of him.

Obviously he’s only been doing it in the Championship and a year in the EPL for Fulham (if they get promoted) will show if he does have what it takes but I would definitely be all for buying him in the summer.

I think everyone is watching this kid but he’s not playing left back anymore he’s playing on the left of a front 3 now and has been for most of the season because he’s so good going forward.

Not sure he’s really a left back option for us but he feels like a kid no one wants to miss out on.

If Fulham get promoted I hope he stays there and doesn’t move to early.

Yeah his position going into the future will not be left back, he’s so good going forward like you say.

Obviously it will be said that do we really need to bring in another left sided player but to be honest sometimes you just have to sign someone on potential alone. It kind of feels like a kid that you’ll regret not taking a chance on.

Jose apparently would like a left footed attacker to give him that option as currently he only has Mata who isn’t really suited to a front 3 as he lacks speed.

My worry is the kid makes too big a jump to soon some are ready for it at 18 like Dele Alli others aren’t like Wilfred Zaha.

Interesting one if he brings in him to play right hand side, lad looks absolutely class but its some step up from Fulham to us.

Yeah I think if his talent progresses then he could definitely play right side. Obviously someone like Robben has been fantastic as a left footer on the right. I think there is plenty of scope for Sessegnon to be quite fluid in an attacking sense but it’s all about him living up to the hype if he does get a move to us or any big club.

I think actually staying at Fulham may be his best option. He's still so young so he should give himself at least a year in the EPL before looking to join a big team.

He’d be stupid to leave Fulham while they’re in the Prem at this stage of his career. If he does well for Fulham in the Prem but they go down then by all means take a leap. The time for a move will come. I’d like to think he’s got a good head on his shoulders and is being advised correctly. Hopefully Fulham stay up for a few years at least and he can remain settled at Fulham while adapting to the Prem.

yes, he should defo stay at Fulham, but I'd love united to get him, looks quality.

For me the smart move is sign him now and loan him back. Everyone is happy then. He gets EPL experience for the team he helped get up. We sign a really exciting youngster before his price gets even higher and Fulham get back their young star for another year

He’s 17 and only played Championship football, unless pushed to move for him by another club I think it would be stupid to buy him yet and stupid of Sessegnon to leave. The Zaha deal goes to show that it’s a big leap from being young promising player in the championship to moving to a big Prem club.

I’m sure that’s what a few clubs maybe looking to do. If Sessegnon rips up the league next year then his transfer fee is going to double.

I would love us to take a chance on him, obviously we would be taking a gamble on potential before he is really tested at the top level but hey sometimes you need to gamble. It hasn’t worked great over the years with the likes of Zaha and Powell but I think Sessegnon has a bit of stardust about him.

He’s a left winger rather than a left back this season think he needs to be brave and stay at Fulham at least one more year and wait until he’s ready to make the move to the bigger clubs.

Easily said if clubs are offering him huge riches but I don’t see Fulham wanting to do a deal then loan back not even sure you can do that when both clubs are in the same league.
