Alvaro Morata

I'm wondering if this deal is going to happen, lots of press talk about him leaving his honeymoon to push the deal, and then the plane arriving in Manchester. Both of which were proved untrue by Morata's instagram account posting photo's of him still on his honeymoon.

I have a feeling Madrid are being difficult and over pricing him to make a point about De Gea.

I think we should move on to another target now. He is no 70m player

We could force their hand by dropping our interest and going for the player they want, Mbappe, because we can outbid them and pay better wages. This might make them rethink the Morata fee

Edit:

Just read Madrid ARE going to reduce their asking price nearer to the 60m we want to pay

I think you just have to deal in facts and ignore the speculation the player is currently on his honeymoon there's no way he's flying back from that early to sort out a transfer that can be sorted in 2 months time he might have made a few phone calls to his agent while he's been away but he won't be speaking directly to the president of Madrid or anything like that.

I don't think anyone is being difficult I just think people are on holiday there's no need for this deal to be done today, tomorrow or even next week.

It's in everyones interest to conclude this deal if Utd is where he wants to be next season but we don't know that for sure we just rely on the rumours and Madrid seem open to the idea of letting him leave but they have a price and they will also need to make sure they have the replacement lined up. I think if Madrid get the green light on Mbappe then this deal will happen quickly if Madrid can do the deal with Monaco if that deal drags on then sadly so will ours as Madrid don't have to sell and they don't want to be in a situation where they need a panic buy to be the backup striker because the Mbappe deal fell through after they let Morata go.

I think the De Gea stuff is off the table I think they're happy to stick with Navas as they aren't prepared to pay £50m for a new keeper.

It's not in everyone's interest if he is overpriced, the deal is stalling because of the price, Madrid are demanding, 70m for a sub. Of Course Madrid will be difficult, they always are, they want to appear the best and strongest club in the world, they wont let players go easily, even if they don't want them. There aren't many players who ask to leave that club, they wont like it.

Even at 60m he is over priced, if that's what we are willing to go to for him then so be it. But I'm glad we aren't being bullied by Madrid. It's time to start having a target C. We wont want wait, we leave for tour in a week or so and we want to have a proper pre season.

They are desperate for De Gea, again they wont say so because it shows them as being weak. The best, or one of, Goalie in the world who happens to be Spanish...

Isn't all this talk though we don't know anything the only person who's said anything on the record to a camera is Perez who said 2 weeks ago he hadn't received a bid from anyone for Morata. No player is going to force the issue as he knows he doesn't have that sort of weight to throw around and it's probably a good thing that he isn't going to go on strike it's up to the clubs to sort out a fee as far as we can tell.

Madrid rejects cost 70m that's pretty much what we paid for Di Maria it's just the way prices are now if Mourinho think Morata is the solution to our goalscoring problems go and get them.

There's no point in trying to justify transfer fees anymore the scale we used to judge them by has been completely ripped up.

I don't think they're desperate Zidane has made it quite clear he's happy with Navas and the players seem to like Navas if you believe the Spanish football journalists. If they could get De Gea they'd probably take him as he is an upgrade but it seems like they've accepted they can't get him as they don't see the point in paying a silly transfer fee for him and also they couldn't match the wages he gets at Utd and it's unlikely De Gea would accept a pay cut. The stuff I read suggests that they feel like they've missed their chance with him and they'll have to wait for his contract to run down before they can get him again the only thing that will change that is if he tries to force himself out of Utd something so far he's been reluctant to do.

I think they're going all out for Mbappe if he decides he wants to stay at Monaco I think they'll tell Morata he has to stay 1 more year at Madrid.

At what point do we say screw you Madrid and move onto other targets? If we have been after Morata all summer then clearly Madrid are playing hard ball, we are clearly gonna pay an extreme amount but sounds like Madrid just want a stupid amount of money for him.

If he's the top target I'd say end of July if we don't feel deal can be done take the B target whoever that is which may be an expensive we might have to pay a stupid fee for Belotti.

Feels like other deals need to happen before this one can which might mean we have to wait until the end of the window.

Thing is with these deals is we don't know where it is right now could be announced tomorrow or we might not have even put a bid in yet.

We apparently have had a bid for Lukaku accepted and ended our interest in Morata! Not sure if I'm happy or not.

I think Lukaku is the less risky option domestically we know he scores goals in the Premier League he's been doing it for the last 5 seasons but Morata has more pedigree in European competition but Lukaku hasn't had the chance to perform on that stage.

Part of me still holds out hope that we might be greedy and go for both but they aren't really people who can play together.
