Tyler Reid has departed Manchester United and joined Swansea City on a three-year deal.
The right-back moves to Wales in a change of scenery, having joined United in 2014.
A regular in the U18s, it felt like next season could have been the campaign that saw Reid nail down a regular spot in Warren Joyce’s U21 side, a squad fresh from retaining the Premier League title.
With Antonio Valencia’s age, Guillermo Varela’s likely departure and Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s long-term future seen in midfield, the chance was there for Reid to potentially stake a claim to play back-up to Matteo Darmian at full-back, should the latter remain at the club.
The 18-year-old moves across the border in search of a different challenge nonetheless, where his pace, energy, attitude, attacking intent, no-nonsense style of play and crossing ability see the Swans land a player full of potential for the future.
He has also been a regular for England at youth level, highlighting how highly thought of he is and the ability that he possesses.
We wish Tyler all the best going forward.
