He’ll never make it here, he’s not of the required standard. Now, if we do get relegated he’d probably tear it up in the Championship, or maybe it’d be too quick/ physical for him? Disgraceful reaction to his substitution last night, irrespective of how dire he was/is.

Hi quirkishdelight,

Welcome to the forum.

I think the championship would be too quick/physical for him. I agree, the reaction last night was disgraceful. I said in another thread, I could sense the crowd were baying for blood before he killed the ball. There was a groan following his first mistake.

That sounds to me like Zirkzee wants a move.

Who would be the back up striker if Zirkzee left United in January? A new signing? Wheatley? Or do I dare suggest Rashford, although we all know he isn’t suited to the role, and obviously stuff.

A striker in confidence just puts that opportunity away instead of squaring it.

He would have to be replaced if he left no idea who that player would be.

Expect it would be a loan signing so someone who isn't getting much playing time at his current club and they'd like to get the wages off the book.

Translation:

Not only Kolo Muani (click here to read the latest updates on the Frenchman), Juventus is also working on Joshua Zirkzee for the attack.

The Bianconeri are looking for a player to pair with Dusan Vlahovic and who would allow the Serbian to catch his breath more since Milik is still out injured.

The Dutchman has already had Thiago Motta at Bologna, becoming one of the protagonists of the historic ride of the rossoblù towards qualification for the Champions League.

The Turin club is working with Manchester United to start negotiations for the loan of the player.

Juventus are interested in signing Joshua Zirkzee and the club are keen to complete a loan deal. However, according to information gathered in collaboration with our colleagues at Sky Sports UK, Manchester United are unlikely to consider this option for the Dutchman.

Zirkzee has been called up for every game under Ruben Amorim, who has said he wants to keep him in the squad.

A loan with an obligation to buy wouldn't be the end of the world but we'd need the deal to create enough room in our budget to get in a replacement even if that was something short term for this season only.

Interest from Juve apparently, but rumours he has told his agent he wants to stay at United and prove people wrong.

He should stay, no doubt. We haven't seen enough of him when settled and in form - what glimpses we have seen of his best play has been impressive. I'd like to see him get the chance he deserves. Any player needs consistent time in a team and he has not had it.

I think people are jumping to conclusions with Juventus.

They want a striker on loan to cover the injury to Milik and Zirkzee worked with Motta at Bologna.

Unless there's money to get a better player to replace him they can't really let him go we are already short of attacking options.

If Juventus offered to buy him it's a different story but loans aren't really helping us.

I guess it’s easy to say get rid but loan deals don’t really benefit us and weakens the squad.

If Rashford and Zirkzee go on loan then you’ll be looking at bringing a striker in who may or may not work out. Beyond that you could think about a promoting a youngster who may not be ready.

I don't think they'll be promoting anyone else from the academy at this stage.

If Rashford and Zirkzee both left on loan then both would need to be replaced by players on loan and there's not many clubs who are going to give you a decent centre forward and winger on loan.

It's a very difficult situation for the club to solve.

You are basically looking at Ighalo/Weghorst level players to fill a spot in the squad rather than someone who'll actually make a difference.

So Kolo-Muani then

David is out of contract this summer. He would be fairly cheap, rumour is he was cheaper than Zirkzee in the summer and we chose Zirkzee, or ETH did.

Must be a reason clubs didn't go for him.

High agent fees, massive wage demands etc etc.

Can't see him moving now he'll wait until the summer and maybe already has something lined up.

Madrid still don't have a centre forward and they seem to love a guy on a free transfer.

What fee could he be signed for now?

I would guess Lille would want a fee that covers the risk of missing CL next season.

That must be worth 50m to them so they’d still expect a big fee

There are some decent free transfers to be had in the summer if they don’t sign new contracts in the mean time. Davies, Kimmich and Sane at Bayern, David and Gomes at Lille. A couple of full back options in the EPL in Mitchell at Palace and Aina at Forest.

Might have to start boxing a bit smarter in the transfer market with the PSR constraints.

Don’t forget Trent, Van Dijk and Salah :D

Mitchell was flying as a left wing back last season when they switched to 3 at the back. Not sure how he’s been getting this year.

Certainly won’t hurt if we can find a few freebies that can improve the squad.

Yeah definitely need to box smarter

I've been reading some good stuff about him, the players want him to stay and fight for his place which is a very positive sign. He must be impressing them in training.

Letting him go now would just prove we don't know what we're doing. If you get someone in at least give them the chance to settle first before moving them on.

Hopefully that Newcastle moment will be the making of him. It certainly could rally fans to get behind him if he can find a few goals certainly if the goals turn out to be winners.

I still think he looks like he needs to shift a bit of weight to get around the pitch a bit quicker.

You can see there’s ability but we need to start seeing him put it to good use.
