Would you sell Rashford in the summer?

Amorim on Rashford not being in the squad v Spurs: "Selection. I chose the players that looked ready to cope with the demands of playing a strong game."

you have to think they’re looking to get him out in January.

Even just a loan move.

The rumours about his gambling are fairly well reported on but a lot of the suggestions are that the people he surrounds himself with are not helping his career.

I actually feel sorry for the previous managers if this is the case. Mostly for Ole. He seems a nice guy and when his top players are letting him down there is nothing much any manager can do. I think it started with Joe and Pogba. Does anyone still remember Rashford telling Maguire to feck off when he was the captain. Maguire should have thrown him off the field.

Let's say these rumours are true, makes that new deal look even more ridiculous

The new deal was all about timing.

He’d just scored 30 goals in a season he was 25 and had 1 year to run on his deal. You couldn’t ask for a better negotiating position.

Might be bullshit but theres some rumours going around about Rashford that would explain a lot, suing a builder for a doomed house project, drink problem, massive gambling debts and sent home from training to name a few.

Can’t see any suitors for him, especially not at the prices being quoted. Best thing for all would be a transfer to Saudi, I’d honestly take £20m for him, just to get his wages and his toxicity out of the club.

Exactly, I remember that summer after he scored all those goals, I was hoping he would sign. I will say one thing, I hoped he would sign so it’d protect his value, I’ve never truly rated him.

He seems to be fairly highly rated in Europe so I would definitely want rid of him if the price was right. His attitude seems to be getting progressively worse and he doesn’t look like he wants to be there. I’d get rid of Casemiro on the back of his performance v Newcastle while I was at it and that frees up £700k a week.

I’m pretty certain he won’t be going Saudi any time soon.

he's going to be a tough one to ditch.

I can't see anyone bar PSG and they don't need him.

I did read Arsenal might interested, but only at 25m

If he goes it’ll be a loan for the rest of this season.

Utd will still be paying a lot of his wages like Sancho last season.

Should United look to buy a like for like replacement or strengthen in other areas?
No point in a like for like replacement when his position doesn't really exist in the formation.

It's what worries me about Garnacho.

I wouldn't sell him yet. I'd loan him out and see if he can find his love for the game again elsewhere.

I'm at the the point Mainoo and Amad are the only safe ones.
Right price, all the rest can leave

If only I knew
The situation looks desperate. Look at the players who are supposed to be scoring, not one is reliable and consistent. I have little faith, at the moment, in the.club at all levels. Whoever scouted our recent signings, God knows what they were thinking !
Sorry I can't be of help

If Rashford was sold I’d be looking to spend that money on a centre mid we are so short in that position.

Forward options are limited in terms of quality but for me that’s something we have to address in the summer along with the wing backs.

Reality is if he goes it will only be a loan but even that might free up enough space in the budget for a loan to just get us through the rest of the season.

The thing we need to most is a striker, we're creating a few chances, but nobody to put them away. Nobody to hold the ball up, or lay it off.

By a million miles the priority is a striker

I don’t think 1 player transforms that attack I just think midfield is so empty of options.

We can never control a game or look solid because it’s so weak.

Whatever position we go for in this scenario he needs to be brilliant in the air.

I don't think we can.
PSR is strangling us, suggestions are we are over £100m over the £113m three year rolling limit, on top of that the club had to pay back around £200m in transfer fees over th enext 12 months, then there is the £527m debt to make interest payments on.
It's no wonder that Ratcliffe is trying to cut costs everywhere.

We will be the right side of the number from a PSR point of view the owners aren’t that reckless to risk a points deduction, the league have shown breaches will be punished. I do think in the summer if there’s no European football spending will be limited. They may just have to let this situation burn itself out next season as we wait for these expensive contracts to expire.

Cash is a different story that’s why the Glazers had to sell part of the club as they’d burned through the cash and needed capital injected. Ratcliffe has put £300m into the club as capital. That will improve our debt burden but it’s still a mess.

In the summer I expect Lindelof, Casemiro, Maguire and Eriksen will all leave. Rashford could also leave. If all that happened then that’s a massive chunk of the wage bill gone which gives you some room to play with even if they all leave for close to nothing.

I think you need to look back at the terms of the deal between INEOS and the Glazers, none of the money invested could be used to pay off any debt, the debt (according to the accounts) stands at around £527m. The deal was any money INEOS put in was to go on the footballing side, not the Glazers pockets, this included investing in Carrington and OT. This debt if I remember rightly has to be re-financed in 2027, there is no guarantee the banks will do it, especilly if the performance on the field doesn't improve drastically.
If we don't get into European competition next season (which looks very likely) could mean a minimum loss of €285m in revenue, that's just for conference league.
We have a lot of players on stupid contracts, both in length and wage wise, Zirkzee is contracted until 2029, Casemiro 2026, Maguire 2025, Eriksen 2025, my guess is Maguire wil be offered a one year etension.
Player contracts

The future doesn't look rosy if things stay the way they are, fans are fickle, especially the JCL's, they will switch if the results fail.

It's not 1974 yet, but a downward trend is very hard to reverse.

What a mess the Glazers Woodward and his board have left the club in its disgraceful it was allowed to happen we have a squad with relative little value in relation to the wages they are on, what the club must not do is change the manager again until theres been a total reset in how this whole shit show is run.

There’s not much of a market for him really. PSG may be the only club that might want him and could afford him. I’m sure PL teams would be interested but would they need to overpay?
