Where does Ten Hag rank in the post Fergie era?

Thats true, becasue they have an incredible squad, none of those players were in the first team at the time.

Go check Liverpool and Chelsea

if you're going on cups yes.

If you're going on football enjoyment, pretty low down. probably the worst football out of them all.

Definitely the worst football I've endured during my life long support of this club.

I cannot put into words how happy I am that it's over.

The football was in no way as dull as it was under LVG.

That football was absolutely brutal to watch.

As was the Moyes and Jose football. Short memories.

We played our best football post Fergie during Ole's caretaker period and first season. ETH had us playing some good stuff and it seemed to lose it's way but the games were full of excitement just not always for the right reasons.

Ole's best spell came when no one was allowed to go and watch the team play. The bit after Covid until the fans came back the following season was fun then it all fell apart. Never felt like Ole's success was built on stable foundations from memory it was a lot of comebacks in the second half of games but when his sides clicked they were good to watch but it was so hit and miss.

Goal scoring has been a major problem for the club for a very long time and whoever the next guy is has got to fix that.

Ole's first game was a complete contrast to what had come before, I still remember how much I loved that performance.

Things had got very dark under Mourinho in his final season it was so toxic as he fell out with everyone.

Ole was a breath of fresh air and those first few weeks were great fund before it all kind of collapsed again.

Really? The Moyes and LVG football has been erased from your memory suddenly? Yes the ETH football at times wasn’t great but let’s not rewrite history now.

Each to their own I suppose. I don't remember hating my match days as much as this, like ever.

yeah, I mean I have never liked LVG football since his Barca days.

But I preferred watching that to ETH. It was just a dysfunctional mess and I often thought, we aren't going to win this.

Maybe time has blurred the lines.

Time can do that, there is a lot to remember.

One thing that is a certainty though is all of those previous managers gave the team an identity, ETH did not.

btw, on ETH keep banging on about his FA cup win, apparently Darren Fletcher spent a few hours trying to talk him out of the tactics he wanted to adopt and eventually suceeded. What a joke they kept him on after that.

He was way out of his depth.

Bad tactics, bad player relations, horrible with the press and just so amazingly stubborn. He was never going to take us anywhere, too much to learn.

The football under Van Gaal was dire. The team went hours and hours without scoring at Old Trafford. I’ll never forgot the match against Sheffield United.

It was 11 games without scoring a first half goal and 49 goals in 38 games. 27 in 19 at Old Trafford.

really, is that including Europe then? there was a time a player from another team had more goals (league) at OT than man utd

Further to this, mi seat is in the east stand. United usually attack the east stand in the first half. I didn’t see a goal for months!

yeah, the 7 goals aganst Barnsley heavily inflate that goal ratio

safe to say it's not been goal fest bar that game

I feel refunds were deserved for that season to lads in the east stand

But also safe to say LVG football was more boring than ETH.

At the time we created the record for passes back to the keeper.

Under Moyes we created the record for most crosses in a game without hitting a striker (we were crossing the ball in to Rooney that was the game plan)

Genuinely confused how you think the football under ETH was worse than LVG or Moyes other than you've just got a poor memory. (Or perhaps you were listening on the radio then but watching now)

I think with LVG you knew what you were getting, I was amzed his brand of football was picked for united. I hated his Barca side.

ETH was just an infuriating mess on and off the pitch. He is the first united coach I disliked.

But as I said above, time probably affects the thoughts on LVG

I guess it’s natural to forget other coaches as time is a healer from the horrors of the past!

The football under LVG and Moyes was horrendous - it’s one thing trying to be compact and dominate possession in LVG’s case but when it crosses over into negativity then it’s not for me.

ETH had some horror shows but I still preferred watching us now than under the two I kiss mentioned.

The best football was probably under Ole but what we were doing there wasn’t sustainable, we gave away the leads to many times and while the comebacks were epic to watch, it wasn’t going to happen forever.

ETH is slightly above Mourinho for me as well.
