70 wins from 128 games in charge, Ten Hag 54.7% is the second best of any manager post Fergie - behind only Mourinho’s 58.3%.

Where does Ten Hag rank in the post Fergie era?

Also puts him third all time in our list of managers based on win percentage.

Mourinho is first with the Europa League and League Cup.

ETH is second with the FA Cup and League Cup.

  • Since the start of 2022-23, the only Premier League side to concede more goals in all competitions than Manchester United (165) is West Ham (180).
  • Man United have conceded three or more goals in 24 different games in that time, the joint most along with Bournemouth.

Of the full time managers he’s 2nd behind Mourinho.

Mourinho
ETH
Ole
LvG
Moyes

Nothing is 'going on' you're just completely ignoring other competitions. He has a higher win percentage than Ole and LVG and has two trophies to go with it.

He's third in our all time win percentage list.

:D

jeez, the bloody milk cup

a competition Pep said he couldnt give a shit about, next we'll be using pre season friendlies

And the FA Cup win vs City. Whilst Ole lost 4 semi finals and the Europa league final to Villareal.

You're also just ignoring the fact he's third in our all time win percentage?

It’a opinion.

ETH took over the club at its lowest point and won two cups in 2 seasons but league form killed him.

He tried his best had some great highs but to many lows.

whatever, he's a clown, glad he's gone. You're one of the ones who wanted Ole out early on
Haha. I wanted Solskjaer out by the end of the second season or at the start of the season if I remember rightly or if my memory is failing my posts on here will say otherwise. Anyways, Solskjaer failed and was rightly sacked. The fact he hasn’t been manager since he was sacked speaks volumes.

what about the awful signings, Ole was offered Antony, told them not to pay more 30m.

ETH is a lot of the reason this squad is so bad, he has a lot to anwer for.

It's pathetic the way the milk cup is brought up, especially by ETH as if it was some major achievement, it's no better than the charity shield. The FA cup was full of awful perfomances, apart from the final.

For me I'm really only interested in the league and Europe. I'd take a euro cup over the FA cup every time, I acknowledge thats just my personal preference though

It was ETH who told them to sign Antony and that he was available for £30m. They then differed and waited like they did with Fellaini and overpaid towards the end of the window. That signing like the Fellaini one was on the board.

And it was Ole's signings that cost him. Getting Ronaldo in and changing the way he'd had us playing football was the nail in his coffin.

This group of players we have are set up to play exactly the kind of football Ole did in his first few seasons and ETH did when we needed to. But people moan when we sit in and play counter attacking football but it runs to the qualities of Rashford Bruno Garnacho and Hojlund.

Looking down at any Cup win is silly. Especially the FA Cup. It's why Poch would never make a good manager for us. He didn't realise the importance of cups and only cared about winning the '4th place trophy'.

The league cup ranks miles above the Community Shield by anyone’s ranking suggesting it doesn’t it pretty sad and pathetic. It’s a proper trophy it might have been a second thought in the 80s/90s but since the 00s the big clubs all go for it.

League Cup and 3rd in his first season was a great start but it fell apart after that.

League form keeps you in a job though and like all those before him when that went it was game over

I heard it on the radio, and I just googled it, and the Athletic reported it, Ole and the scouts priced him at 25m gbp

If IDFD has better knowledge than all of those sport journos then...........

Before his eventual £80million signing in August 2022, United initially walked away from talks with Ajax after refusing to pay more than £60m. And as previously revealed by The Athletic, scouting reports on Antony during Ten Hag’s predecessor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time in charge had United staff valuing him at around £25m.

Ole left before Antony’s best season at Ajax so of course any valuation on him at that point would be quite low and would have risen by the following summer.

Utd clearly decided to panic buy late in the window. Ajax told them to up the offer but I doubt they expected what came through from Utd.

Same way Madrid must have pissed themselves at the Casemiro offer that summer.

Utd's negotiators had their pants pulled down that summer.

This summer I’d say the signs are that’s finally best stopped

And the midfielder we all thought we needed this summer, keeps getting benched.

too many mistakes, he had to go, he was given more than a fair crack

So what because he’s got to handle the extra European games and a club World Cup then we all sack it off?

Are City no longer counting it as part of their domestic treble?

Pep does not get to decide how serious a competition is.

Clubs always use the early rounds to rotate same as the FA cup but as things get a bit more serious the sides get stronger.

To me both domestic cups are of equal value but if you want to be serious I do think it’s time to ditch the league cup to ease the burden on the calendar.

jesus

go back to the last round, look at the team sheets.

if you think clubs have been prioritising this comp, you've been watching something else.

Fergie played weakened teams in the group stages of the champions league for years. No one is prioritising the League Cup to start the season but everyone is in the competition to win it. Jose and Pep both stated they aim to win it because it's a building block for the rest of the season previously. Pep won it 4 seasons on the bounce he cared about it then. No one outside of United Chelsea Liverpool and City have won it in the last 10 years.

It's a cup. If Ole had won a few maybe he'd have stuck round longer. He did show his faults in not being able to get over the line in cup competitions.

United fans looking down on trophies now and deciding some aren't worth winning because of the manager that won them. We'd have been delighted had Ole got us an FA Cup and left with a couple of medals.

Its not united fans, I did say it was my personal opinion, and has been for a very long time.

I dont rate the milk cup at all, not really interested in the FA cup.

I will acknowledge the FA is a decent title though, I'm just not very interested.
The milk cup is just a competion for youth players and back up players to get minutes.

I would probably go 2nd in the list. There were definitely shoots of the club getting good again in his first season where we finished 3rd and won the League Cup. However his second season was poor and he was never going to recover from this start.

Ultimately it’s the right call but it’s sad that we have to start the rebuilding process again.

Where did I say they prioritised it almost like you didn’t actually read the post.

I said they always rotate in the early rounds every club does it big or small but when it gets a bit more serious you see stronger sides.

Cups are great days out for fans but the league is the real test of where you are.

They aren’t playing the U21 sides they’re still using senior players with the odd kid thrown in.

In the last round City started Walker, Stones, Doku, Grealish and Foden. All those players could argue they’re in City’s strongest XI.

Their bench was basically all regular starters only Haaland had the night off.

They aren’t tossing it off and hoping they’re knocked out
