What needs to change?

I'm not sure Ward-Prowse would improve our midfield I don't watch Southampton a lot but he never really catches my eye during the match it's only really his set pieces where he stands out because he is so good at them.

The prices are set by the seller not the buyer in football Watkins probably is worth 50m to Villa as it's his goals that keep them in the league and they don't really want to lose him. Is he worth 50m to West Ham though as really you're spending that money to probably still end up in 7th next season.

Take dead ball away, is Ward Prowse realLy that good?

I don't think so, he should be 30m and in an ideal world be the type of player we can bring off the bench

Why not? He's an upgrade on what you have.
An upgrade on what we have is not what we need. What we have is awful. We need to be aiming a lot higher than Ward-Prowse with the greatest of respect. Good dead ball specialist without a doubt but would rather get in someone with an all around skill set.

I'd say he's on par with Fred and better than McTominay.

For £75m I want a player who's getting into the City/Liverpool team.

If they've enquired about him and been given that price his name needs to have a big fat line through it.

I don't think he's a terrible player but if Utd really want to take strides forward we need to be buying players who go straight into the first team to me there would be huge question marks over a player like Ward-Prowse. I don't think I've ever seen him run the game against us.

This sounds to me like a nothing story that won't surface again.

He is not on the same level of De Jong, Laimer, Haidara, Gravenberch, Kamara, Tchouameni, Tielmans, Neves or Bissouma. That is why. This is the pool of players we should target, not 27yo Ward Prowse. At his age he is nothing else than an average player with no chance to improve. Also the price is ridiculous.

The guy we should be looking at if we want to go English is Gallagher.

Rice
Phillips
Bellingham
Gallagher

Nome of them are worth 75m and every single one of them is better than Ward-Prowse

French press saying ETH will only get 100m£ budget. They say we are focused on free transfer, but all the good player have already been snaped or don't want to come. We will not get Mbappe or Dembele. Maybe we can hijack Kamara from his Athletico deal. Is there a list of good free players this summer ? Anyway, 100m£ is peanut, that will get him 2 tops players max and we are loosing 8 atleast this summer, mostly on free transfer or very low fee. Can't believe the Glazer are setting ETH to fell like that. What can he possible do with this budget ?

They are better but Rice and Bellingham are worth close to 75m. They are not for sell, so they will cost crazy amount to get them.

I think that depends bud. United need a lot of players this summer and they aren't going to be able to bring in all top quality. I think the rebuild needs to be calculated and needs to be with long term stars but also good squad players to replace the dross.

We already have McTominay, Fred and Garner for the squad players role. We need better first team players first. If we still have some budget left after byuing the upgrade we will see, but i think we will not have enought to get all the players we need.

McTominay is not good enough and nobody really knows if Garner is going to be. Plus United need at least 3 midfield additions.

Not sure why you're paying so much attention to what the French press are saying can't imagine they are particularly well sourced on the Utd plans for this summer.

We just don't know what the transfer budget will be I would hope they'll be looking at a net investment of £100m in the squad this summer but to really get all our problem positions solved we'll need to find players who are on a free or have low release clauses that we can trigger. Player sales might top the budget up a bit but I don't see any obvious players we can sell other than maybe Henderson or Bailly.

The way the finances are in England now unless a player is in the last year of his contract it's almost pointless going for them as the club don't need the money thanks to the TV deal so if you want the player you better believe you are paying a silly price. Hence the reason a player like Zaha has ended up staying with Palace.

The main issue I see is how much further can the club stretch the debt as we know there's no money coming in from the owners in terms of capital injections or sales of shares or a big transfer fee to boost the revenues. TV and Ticket Revenue next season will take a hit from no CL football but the wage bill is going to be slashed quite a bit by the departures and there's those rumours than no CL football means pay cuts for the players. Crap performance on the pitch probably means a few million is saved on potential add ons to existing transfers etc.

My guess is as long as there's a bank willing to lend them money they'll spend it as the money is secured against the club so what do they care but at some point that debt issue needs to be addressed as the interest payments alone are a big problem.

I simply watch the news from my country. I agree about England based players. They are not particularly better and are overpriced because like you said there club doesn't need to sell. This is why i chose players from outside the BPL most of the time. Rice and Kane are in the same situation as Zaha. They needs to run there contract down in order to leave or they will never be able to go.

I read L'Equipe and they don't say anything.
I read l'Equipe too, but they are mostly interested about French international players and Ligue 1 clubs. They don't pay attention to United at all. I read onzemondial for that.

This 100m budget seems to be too widespread for there to be no truth in it.

Not going to get much for that, de jong would be most of it so perhaps not the best target, that and the fact he wants CL.

If that is the budget, we're in for another tough season

If we play De Jong as a CDM, with Fred and Bruno in front that may work, but we will have no cover. Still believe De Jong will end up in a team with CL football. I can't think he will risk his career just for ETH. Like any big player, he want a fair chance to get trophy. For the 100m£ budget, every time i have seen it in the news they said the source of it is the Sun. Did you see another source ?

Any ideas who the fight was between?
I reckon this ‘fight’ has probably been blown way out of proportion. Sometimes there are cross words in jobs, that’s just the nature of life. Just a story to get some clicks and sell some papers.

Sounds a bit more than that, it stopped the training session. Shame that they can't show that spirit on the pitch

Saw someone suggesting Lingard and Maguire but that is just a rumour the names of the players will never be made public.

These things happen doesn’t take a lot to get competitive lads to kick off with each other for me it’s a nothing story

God I can’t wait for this season to end.

Where is this 100m budget stuff coming from? I haven’t seen it anywhere over here.

With our dressing room, I'm amazed the names aren't out already

Papers won’t publish it though because if they name players without proof they can get done in the courts.

The latest rumour is Maguire called Lingard out because Lingard said he didn’t want to be part of the squad for the final game.

I think there are good bargains to be had out there if your scouting system is up to scratch.

I know it was £40m but Bruno Guimares to Newcastle looks a shrewd bit of business. Also, Diaz to Liverpool was a similarly figure. Obviously £100m doesn’t get you a long way like it used to but you can still get 2 or 3 top quality players for that. Also, IF the reports are correct I presume it’s £100m and then potentially player sales on top of that? Plus we are getting some huge earners off the wage bill.

I think ETH will be allowed as much as he wants within reason.

Sadly I’m not convinced managers have been backed but no manager has ever been allowed to go and get everything he needs in one window, there always had to be compromise.

we can’t go into another season with such obvious weak areas in the squad.

The club have to go and solve every problem in that squad in one summer window get him the players he needs.

But they will not do it. What can you do with 100m£ when you have so many positions to fix and your are not first choice for the good players that want CL football ? We are in a situation when overpaying for free transfer will not work. We will not get Mbappe, Dembele, Kessie, Rudiger, Christiensen or Kamara. We will also not get the players in there last year like Gravenberch or Tielmans. They all will get CL clubs. What is left to improve us ?
