Not world class? What's RvP then? Not far of dog sh..

Van Persie needs players who can spot a pass as soon as he makes his run. He isn't quick enough to be a Suarez/Sturridge who have the pace to make runs for players who can't spot the run instantly.

The perfect example for me was Southampton away last year. Van Persie, outside of his goal in the 1st half, wasn't in the game at all. As soon as Paul Scholes comes on, Van Persie is the heart of everything we do in the final 3rd (Van Persie eluded to Scholes' impact in his post game press conference after that game).

Wayne Rooney cannot play as a #10. Everything he links goes out wide rather than to his strike partner, and that is how Ferguson liked. Ball goes into Rooney, he takes 3/4 touches, pings it out wide and then winger crosses. The modern #10 links to central players, not out wide. I would love to see Mata/Shinji/Adnan get a run of games at #10 and I bet RVP's clever movement would be evident once again. Not to mention Rooney cannot defend at all. "He works so hard for the team, so he can play deeper" - there is a difference between running aimlessly and pressing in a timely manner.

Alas, we signed the most overrated player in world football to a £300k a week contract so no chance of that now.

Not with a spineless manager, anyway.

Terrific. His commitment has been criticised more so than any United player, rightly or wrongly, but to me it looks like he's the one giving the most.

West Ham - 22/3/2014

Brilliant goal and top performance. A more mobile #9 made a significant difference to our attacking play and counter attacking.

Moyes: "His form throughout the season has been very good and his first goal showed what everybody is aware he’s capable of."

Did anyone see The Sun newspaper yesterday? Rooney was in the "team of the week". Didn't even play. haha.

Bayern Munich - 9/4/14

Shocking performance but of course Moyes won't take his precious Rooney off.

Thought injury was bollocks mind games but was hobbling around, played poorly, should have been taken off.

He had a piss poor game tonight. Should have come off in place of Welbeck.

Everton - 20/4/2014

Moyes' undroppable pet showing once again he deserved a new contract and the captaincy.

Fergie knew when to get rid.

Wasn't just Rooney though. Kagawa was better than Mata but he was taken off. All managers do it, not just Moyes, for example at Barcelona Neymar is Dreadful but is he ever dropped? No, ever took off? No.

Wayne was terrible again today. I would not especially slag him off for that. Players have bad games, indeed bad spells, but he is not that good that he should stay on even when he is that bad. Moyes needs to show some balls and take him off.

Speedy has got it bang on. We should rest him and let Hernandez or Welbeck play. It's not like we are challenging for anything.

To be honest I was hoping he was out injured for the rest of the season, giving us a chance to check out some other options.

Poor. Was forced to play as a false 9 due to Everton's deep defensive line. Rooney, Kagawa and Mata have linked well against Crystal Palace, West Brom, West Ham and Aston Villa, but not today. Hopefully just an off day.

I don't think he was forced to play as a false 9 which I think is a hipster term for second striker. He was given a role upfront but struggled with movement and any kind of link up play. He was annoyed last season that he wasn't leading the line and now he is he drops deep.

He seems to a lost a yard of pace. Personally I have never thought he has the discipline to play a conventional number 9.

Credit to Everton's defence, I think. Rooney was unable to run in behind as Everton had lots of players defending the penalty area. They sat deep and countered quickly.

Sunderland - 3/5/2014

His touch can be poor, but crickey did we miss his dynamism today.

We always miss him when he's out. As much as people hate him & say his droppable for Utd, he's the linchpin. We are rubbish without him.

Waffle.

He has had the dynamism of a flat tyre for a while.
