Video Assistant Referee (VAR) - Yes or No? | Clubs Vote Yes

I think for fans, the problem is the time it takes, which is generally offside, also players not knowing whether to celebrate.

The penalty decisions, there are not that many. Maybe pens should be left 100% to the ref.

The owners are going to vote for what is best for them not what is best for the fans though.

I would go the other way penalties should be 100% by VAR as they get all the angles and could set a consistent threshold that applies to every decision.

The ref gets one look at full speed and there's so many that are 50/50 decisions. His decision in that moment massively impacts how VAR looks at the incident.

VAR has to check every penalty anyway so why not just say that the check isn't has the ref made a clear and obvious error the check should be is it a penalty or not.

the biggest problem for me is the waiting around. So I say let the ref make the decision and accpet the mistakes.

VAR has proven it makes mistakes, yet will still have to wait.

We need instant decisions in my book, goal line, offside, it all needs to be done instantly

I don't disagree for me they were getting enough right without the technology my only frustration was they used to not retrospectively ban players who got yellow cards in games.

The main issue I see with taking VAR away now is we will see a return of diving in the box. One thing VAR has done is it's massively driven that out of the game at the top level as there is no point.

Harry Maguire has said he'd keep the offsides but get rid of it for penalties and red cards.

I think it’s a good idea but being badly implemented at times, sort the issues out and keep it imo

The problem is the only way to improve the quality of the decisions is to improve the operators and give them more time to review decisions, fans aren't going to be happy with that because the biggest issue with VAR is it takes way to long.

It should only take 10 seconds, if in those 10 seconds the VAR team can't see the Referee/His Assistant has dropped an obvious bollock you stay with the on-field decision.

3 in the VAR team, 3 camera angles(front on, rear view and side on). One camera angle per member of the team for the duration, none of this have a look at this Clifford, whatdya think nonsense

2 of the 3 think the Referee and/or his assistants have got it badly wrong call him/her to the monitor

It probably takes at least 10 seconds to get the first replay loaded up and considering they probably need to check 3 or 4 angles it's always going to take at least 60 seconds to check something unless the first angle gives you a bang on view.

If this new offside thing can do it in under 30 seconds every time then maybe stick with it for that but the rest of it feels like a waste of time unless we accept there will be long stoppages.

All the money in the game you'd think they'd invest in quicker download speeds ....

VAR stays after a vote today - yay!

Looks like only Wolves voted to scrap it.

It does need to improve its application though, it has the ability to be a great system but at the moment it totally ruins the enjoyment of football for me. It’s sad that on some goals I don’t even cheer anymore because I think it’s going to VAR.

The one on the Bournemouth vs Newcastle game had an absolute stinker.

Semi Automated VAR unlikely to come in this season.

Clubs aren’t convinced it works reliably.
