I will be in the minority with my views, but I won't be concerned to start the season with a back five of: De Gea; Darmian/Valencia-Smalling-Jones-Shaw; especially with the protection Schneiderlin will provide. I think Smalling and Jones can develop into a solid partnership. Injuries is the obvious worry though.

I too will not be bothered if we don't get a cb. Only worry is smalling not looking convincing enough.

I'd like a new CB but I can't see any available world class targets. Not seen any of Otamendi, strikes me as another Garay in that he gets linked to us a lot but seems to be no interest from us. I'm not that keen on Ramos. Varane is the only CB about that really interests me but even he still has a lot to learn, only 22. Lot of people talk up this Laporte, i've not seen him but value the opinions i've heard about him, at 21 I assume he also has a lot to learn. Hummels at 26 years old would be perfect but for injuries, weight issues he's spoken of and poor form last season.
