United Under-21s at Tottenham - Official Manchester United Website

Manchester United need a victory at Tottenham Hotspur as the Barclays Under-21 Premier League season reaches an exciting climax.

The Reds kept hopes of a top-four place alive with a convincing 3-0 success against Aston Villa at Old Trafford with James Wilson back in the side and among the goals. It is a real dog-fight for a semi-final slot with no fewer than 10 clubs competing to earn a shot at the trophy Warren Joyce's side won last year.

"Obviously there are three games left now, at least three," explained Joyce to MUTV. "We gave ourselves a tall order, maybe at Christmas, when we put as many lads out on loan as we did. But we felt it was the time for these lads to get tested at this level.

"The main objective is to finish in the top half this season with the league splitting into two. With a bit of luck, it' looks like we're on our way to doing that.

"It's been a decent test for the young boys, even if it's been a bit frustrating at times when we've not had forwards or centre-halves. We've adapted quite well with unfamiliar circumstances."

Denzil Haroun trophy contender Charni Ekangamene was substituted with a groin problem but hopefully both important figures will be fit to travel to the capital. With question marks over whether Jonny Evans will need another run-out, Ekangamene could be called upon to revert to defence with Donald Love another option after his return to fitness. Meanwhile, Wilson was withdrawn against Villa but that was more of a precaution.

"James has just not had a great volume of training for a few weeks now," stated Joyce. "He played in the FA Youth Cup game [at Huddersfield Town] when he was ill really and ended up having a lot of time off in between.

"We're trying to build him up as we've got two games this week and need him involved because we haven't got another forward."

Team: Amos; Varela, McNair, Ekangamene, James; Pearson, Rowley; Janko, Rothwell, A.Pereira; Wilson
Subs: J.Pereira, McConnell, Weir, Rudge, Harrop.

Spurs: Archer; A McQueen, Ball, Fryers, Ogilvie; Bentaleb, Dembele; McEvoy, Onomah, Lameiras; Coulibaly.
Subs: Gallifuoco, Dombaxe, Akindayini, Lesniak, Miles.

McEvoy hits the side netting after being 1v1 with Amos. Nice team move to create the opportunity.

0-0 at half time. Spurs dominated the first 40 minutes, United were a bit better in the final 5.

Great finish from Wilson. Charni excellent at the back. Considering they had Bentaleb and Dembele in midfield, thought Ben Pearson was outstanding. Amos also very good in goal. Credit to Weir aswell in build up to goal. A good performance. 2 games left, 2 wins would probably put us in the play offs.

Wilson again. I'd give him some first team action after Everton. We have nothing to play for and both Rooney and RvP are out.
