Manchester Under-21s face Norwich on Friday - Official Manchester United Website

Manchester United kick off the Barclays Under-21 Premier League season on Friday night with a home match against Norwich City.

Warren Joyce's Reds drew 2-2 with the Canaries at Old Trafford towards the end of last season before losing to Chelsea in the final of the nationwide competition. Silverware has already made its way to the trophy room, however, with Manchester City emphatically beaten at Hyde FC last time out in the Manchester Senior Cup final.

James Wilson scored all four goals in the 4-1 success and will clearly be a major threat if involved again for Joyce's side. Josh Harrop pressed his starting claims with an eye-catching substitute appearance against City and Callum Evans also looked assured after taking on left-back duties after the break. Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez is not available as he has agreed to join Dinamo Zagreb on loan.

Leigh Sports Village is the venue for the fixture, as it will be for the majority of Under-21 games this season.

Team: J.Pereira; McNair, Thorpe, Varela; Janko, Rothwell, Pearson, Harrop, Goss; A.Pereira, Lawrence.

A very solid performance in which Norwich only had one shot on target that I remember.

Ben Pearson and Josh Harrop ruled that midfield

Lads were class tonight. I absolutely love watching Pearson, he has no fear, probably one of the smallest guys on the field, rarely loses out in a tackle and if he does he goes back for 2nds. He loved the bit of handbags just before half time, right in the middle of it pushing Norwich players around. Oh and his football isn't bad either, very good assist for 2nd goal.
