ETH has said he’s still about 2 months away from a return to first team football.

Wasn’t it knee surgery? And then it has taken longer than expected to heal, so maybe some complications.

Think it’s the same injury as before suffered a setback in his rehab just before joining in team training in January.

Been out of the game for almost 18 months, poor lad.

Won't be long now ....

Think he's on course to be back mid october.

Looks like he has full mobility back in that vid.

He has been named in the europa league and premier league squads.

Latest from ETH

Ten Hag said: “Of course, we want to motivate him to return, but it’s not so easy when you are so long away. Over a season now from an injury to return, but he’s working very hard, he’s progressing really well in this moment.

“He’s making big steps, so we think, at short notice, we can expect him in the team training, and he is a talent, it’s natural. I expect also, soon, he can return into games then.”

Back in team training not sure if he did the full session but would suggest his return is quite close.

He looks like he’s packed on some muscle while out injured.

Good to hear he’s in full training now.

Ruud suggested he may feature in some U21 games soon.

In the squad for the U21’s tonight against Huddersfield in the EFL trophy.

Hope it all goes well he’s had a rotten run

Think a lot of it was his own fault, wasn't it? All that carry on with his own doctor doing the surgery.

Glad he's finally back though - he looked a good player from what I remember.

Don’t recall that one but players often use their own doctors for surgery.

Just sounded like bad luck with the setback that needed more surgery.

he was steady but not amazing

A difficult return.

Got done for pace on the 2nd goal and his delivery first half was really poor.

Still good to see him back after so long out.

After such a long time on the side lines, it is hard to not give him the benefit of the doubt and expect him to be a bit rusty. He looked confident which was pleasing to see.

I know he has been out for a long time but looks way below the level we require of a LWB. I think as a left back he is fine but don’t think he has that real quality in the final third in this system.

He isn’t a bad player by any stretch but I think ultimately he’ll go down as another average signing.

Unfortunately, he has lost all his pace. Not surprised he was taken off at half time, I doubt we'll see much of him for the rest of the season.

He’s had a long time out will take him probably the rest of this season to get fit.

Got to give him a bit of time.

He’s way short and shouldn’t be starting matches. He should build up to full fitness with 20-30 minutes cameos when matches are won.
