The Sir Jim Ratcliffe Era

Jim Ratcliffe when asked for his verdict on Ten Hag: “Nobody has been successful in that Manchester United environment for the last 11 years. So that would say to me that there is something wrong with the environment.”

Think you could say the plc era through the 90's was a success. Stadium totally re-built without incurring debt, record profits, huge growth, success on the pitch etc.

The downside of that setup was it made us vulnerable to the sort of takeover the Glazers were able to do.

I think deep down most proper fans just want someone who isn't going to put the long term health of the club at risk and that's what these guys did and really we survived through it with a lot more luck than judgement. Getting those high interest loans refinanced as bonds just before the credit crunch hit in 2008 is all that saved us.

Yeah but apart from the total-rebuild of the stadium, record profits, record growth and success on the pitch what else did the Romans do for us?

He’s saying all the right things.

No promises of quick fixes, isn’t going to waste his time commenting on the past and wants to put us back on top.

I like his talk about the stadium he is think BIG not cheap.

Just heard a bit more, all sounds great.

It's about walking to the right solution, not running to the wrong one.

3 years

Only been in the job a few hours and he's already got the Citizens, the self-pity la's and the Fog worshippers at it already, and a sly dig at Chelsea and Arsenal as well, it's never gonna be dull with Sir Jim in the building.

Watched his first interview for MUTV last night, said all the rights things.

He's not keen on people retiring, wonder If that applies to the players

"Yes Harry, I know you are 47 but you are still our best CB, just give us 3 more years and we can look at it again when you're 50"

Actually Maguire is the least of our problems now. He needs a coach who can get the best out of lot of prima donnas or sell the lot. I liked the way he said about ETH as the Head Coach and said these days it is impossible for the Head Coach to report directly to the CEO.

Rumours that Eric Cantona is interested in a role at the club under the Ratcliffe regime.

I guess some sort of ambassador type role.

What is that Romano clown on about.

If Southampton refuse a fee to get you out of your contract you can’t just resign and walk into another job.

Anyway good to see the team growing, guessing he knows Berrada from his time at City.

To buy him out of his contract a club would have to offer Soton a year of Wilcox's wages as compensation, United have done that(apparently), Soton are now disputing that is in his contract, if it is he's well justified in resigning.

One for the lawyers I guess.

Even if he resigns his contract probably stops him from taking other jobs as there would be a notice period to serve.

Do remember hearing something a while back that under UK law buyout clauses basically can’t be enforced unless the employer agrees it. They’re basically a handshake agreement and if one party goes back on it the other party is stuffed.

Shame if true, the lad has done a great job for the club

Not surprised he’s out.

Rumours are they want to give Ten Hag a chance under the new management which is probably fair but he won’t have much time of next season starts as badly as this one did.
