The Sir Jim Ratcliffe Era

Listened to it.

He talked well.

Made some pretty alarming statements about how close to a cliff edge the club was financially.

Basically said by end of 2025 the club would have run out of cash. They money he put in is basically already gone thanks to the works at Carrington and day to day running costs.

The Glazers had managed from arms length basically suggesting they allowed way too much control to management. His criticism stopped there though, dodged questions about debt and their decision to take money out of the club.

In terms of workforce he said despite losing money we were still increasing staff numbers year on year. Cuts had to me made and once the club is back on level ground some benefits may be reinstated.

Admitted they made a mistake with Ashworth. Said poor chemistry was the reason he left and that making a quick decision was the best solution.

Suggested ticket prices will go up but not by much. They want to make sure the most loyal carry the least burden. Sounds like season tickets will rise at a lower rate than one off tickets.

He spoke very enthusiastically about the stadium.
For some of us this is not news, some of us have been saying this for a number of years.
The only way for this club to move forward is to buy the club from the Glazers for a nominal amount, and take on the debt, so that debt can be paid off, it never will be while the Glazers are in charge. We need Jaguar/Red Bull scenario to happen, and it doesn't have to be a Sheikh, there are people out there.

It won’t be a nominal amount it’ll be an eye watering amount. I do think it will be done before work starts on the stadium. My gut feeling is there’s already a hand shake deal in place for him to do it. My guess is he won’t buy it in full he will have backers through a consortium.

The takeover debt likely gets wrapped into the new debt for the stadium build. That gets paid back over 30 years (by the fans not by sir Jim). I don’t think he will be taking the debt into INEOS.

The pay back I’m guessing will be the boost in land value if the government commit to the regeneration of south Manchester.

Financially the club was heading for a cliff edge so radical changes were needed in staffing and generally all areas. Not nice I get that.
But what I still dont get is why Radcliffe got involved with these parasites at all, Im clinging to the hope that he`s got an agreement that they will leave in the next year or two otherwise why would he have bought into the club.
Or he`s been had over by them which I doubt very much but they are capable of anything.

SJR is an astute business man, he could probably tell or had some way of knowing that if the ways of the Glazers were not stopped soon his club could go under. I mean before he got to look at the accounts. He just wanted to step in and save the club no matter what.

That is the only logical reason to get into bed with them. I don't think he likes them at all.

We're not a charity, go and set something up for free lunches and biscuits if you feel so strongly about it. Take it out of your pocket.

I just listened to the Neville interview.

The £66 ticket inflation was completely overplayed by the press.

500 people returned their tickets that had a reduced price when they bought them. They resold those 500 tickets at face value.

I think that was spin.

If that was the case they should have said that months ago when it happened.

Also for 500 tickets was it really worth it? If meant kids/confessions who wanted those tickets had to pay full price.

Decent little PR interview from him, still doesn’t show me anything but it’ll keep a few onside for a bit longer amidst rising protests and planned events.

He was uncomfortable when pressed on the Glazers, I’m beginning to think they’ve had his pants down.

Under the terms of the sale neither party is allowed to publicly criticise the other party so he can't slag off the Glazers.

I don't recall him saying anything positive about them.

He didn't name check any players, so anyone who goes to the manager are basically admitting they are pants.

He only name checked the players they owe money on this summer.

The training ground redevelopment works are on track to complete 31st July 2025 according to the latest reports.

So when the players return from the pre season tour all the new facilities will be up and running.

So prices up on average 2.50 per game.

Think there’s 50,000 season ticket holder so all in for 19 league games this raises approx £2.4m in additional revenue. When you take out juniors who’s prices are frozen it’s probably an extra £2m in revenue from season tickets.

The 11 year price freeze they bring up in every press release just doesn’t wash when it’s been an approx 5% increase every summer for 3 years. That’s 15% rise in 3 years bet the staff at the club haven’t seen a 15% pay rise in that period.

Some over 65s will be hit hardest a reward for loyalty.

Positive that junior ticket prices are frozen that’s an easy win they had to take.

For members game categorisation will be a kick in the nuts. You are going to watch Utd who they are playing shouldn’t impact the price.

Think the execs are getting much bigger rises. Heard someone suggest those prices are up 20%.

He does not strike me as someone who would let that happen.
I’m just going on his body language, anyone that trusts the Glazers is a fool.
The club will never fully recover with the parasites in tow and I’ll remain a sceptic on Ineos until the day they leave..if it ever happens.

They don't want season ticket holders. They want day trippers.

Feels like that's a general principle in football now clubs don't need the security of the money off season tickets.

Won't be long before the sort of dynamic pricing we see in other entertainment venues comes into football.

One thing they seem to be clamping down on slowly is the season ticket holders who are either giving the tickets back to the club to sell or transferring to other members.

Ratcliffe was clear in his recent interview that he wants the club to look after the people who show up every week and reward them.
