The Sir Jim Ratcliffe Era

The players just are not good enough. Especially for the amount of money spent.

The previous management and staff in charge of recruitment, have spent all the money, spent it badly, and set the club back years.

If Ashworth was key in keeping on ETH and giving him a new deal, as well buying the players we did this summer, and wanted Southgate/Potter as all has been suggested. I can see why it wasn't working.

I also read SJR didn't think he was making enough cuts/savings.

It's just a complete mess, the club has no money, is in massive debt thanks to the Glazers, and has several bang average players on Ballon d'or money

Amorim must be wishing he had waited for City

That is the crux of it the new regime didn't have much room for error but within 6 months of being properly in charge they've burned through another £25m in redundancy costs for sacking managers the question now is who replaces him.

The club can't afford to keep taking these hits for poor decisions being made at board level the decisions over ETH and Ashworth have cost us the money for a signing in January or in the summer.

With the exception of Zirkzee the summer deals I think so far have stood up to scrutiny the new players who've come in have settled in well and they'll all fit into the new system. The players who left aren't really being missed and wouldn't have fit into the new system.

If they want to spend big money in the summer to overhaul the squad then they're going to have to sell a big player to fund it and that won't be someone who's already on mega money it'll be one of the younger players who other clubs would actually want.

I'd say it's to early to say for me the most impressive thing about him is the communication he is miles better at that side of things than ETH was but on the pitch it's still a bit of a mess.
It’s a mess bud because your team isn’t as good as some want to make out. And that’s not me saying anyone on here I just mean United fans. There’s still a belief (and I get it as fans) that your playing way below your teams potential. I do think you are playing below your potential but not way below. You are a top half team. You could possibly get a Europa league spot but you are not a top 4 team and are some way from being that.

The Glazers have ruined the club, they put it into debt, didn't invest, took the money when investment was available when they should have sold the club outright.

SJR has been a massive mistake for the club, but the real problem is still the Glazers.

I think the gap between the team in 5th and the team in 13th isn't that much we're all very up and down you just need to find a way of stringing a couple of good results together and you'll move up the table very quickly.

5th should get a champions league spot this season 1 very average side (by PL standards) is going to win the lottery and get that spot this season.

Most on here accept that we're miles off challenging and it's a very long way back that will require another overhaul of the squad.

I reckon he's preparing for a full takeover in the next 24 months.

I dunno.

Pro’s

The training ground is getting long overdue investment.
Stadium plans actually have a bit of momentum behind them.
He’s employed some people who should know how to run a football club to run ours.
Signings/Sales in his first summer window look pretty spot on.

Cons
£66 ticket prices announced mid season
The Ashworth saga
Sticking with ETH
Performance on the pitch continues to decline

It hasn’t been perfect but there’s still some good stuff going on.

I’d rather the club went bust than sell to state ownership.

As for SJR it’s pretty clear the clubs in a financial mess due to the current owners. He’s took on the challenge of fixing it and that means every penny that can be saved will be saved.

Our debt is due for refinancing in the next 2 years which means the books need to look a lot healthier to secure the best deal.

Sadly we remain in this situation because of the Glazers and they’ve not yet been removed.

SJR is proving to be an awful addition to the club so far
He hasn't really succeeded anywhere outside INEOS

The glazers won the Super Bowl with their NFL team twice.

Doesn’t make them good Utd owners

Hes making changes that'll save a 100k at a cost far higher to the outlook it gives the club to the rest of the world. Small picture thinking.

It is lots of small savings added together to make big ones. It isn’t like they haven’t made bigger cuts elsewhere. Fergie’s salary and 250 staff redundancies.

The players wage bill which is the main expense will be cut to with contracts expiring as it was last summer.

Each bad new story last 24-48hrs then it’s chip paper.

There does need to be a point soon though where the cuts stop and behind the scenes everyone accepts the new way of life and gets on with the job.

I just think the financial situation is pretty dire and it has to be fixed. That means making tough unpopular decisions.

The thing to remember is Utd have some payments that have to be made and some that they choose to make. Anything that is a choice will be getting put under pressure.

Who on earth said the Glazers were good owners.

Most clubs have one awful owner, somehow we have managed to get two

The point was success elsewhere does not translate to success at Utd.

And my point was, SJR has no success anywhere in his sporting colabs.

He seems to be forgetting the roots of the club, their fan base and family spirit and applying a harsh business head.
He could probably get away with it, if the onfield stuff improved.

He is also treating the women's team shamefully.

They'll be a point soon where I wished the glazers hadn't sold up to him

So far Ineos have been bad.

We should have allowed the Sheikh his total buyout

Really needs some of the sides below us to start getting points. Maybe then he is forced into giving Ruben some money for signings

Without players leaving there’s no money for signings.

At best they might be able to do some loan moves.

Usually you have some positives to counterbalance the tough decisions that need to be made, however, with Ineos, it is difficult to find many over the past year.

The only positive of the Qatar ownership would be the Glazers would be gone.

However, you would now be a state asset with the name being used and abused to promote another countries image which I'm certainly not comfortable with.

It's going to take a very long time to repair the damage done to the club by the Glazers.

Debt gone, new stadium, new training facilities, redevelopement of area, womens team to get facilities and stadium, money for transfers, charities not forgotten.
