Ruud van Nistelrooy to join coaching staff?

I think having Ruud on the bench and around the training ground has to be a positive. Gets what it's about to be a United player and has a proper winners mentality.

Hopefully he can get in Branthwaites ear having managed him.

They can't do any work without a visa even if it was unpaid and if they did Utd would be subject to huge fines. Was a tongue in cheek post, they won't be doing anything. Probably just being taken there to get a feel of the place before they start once the visa comes through.

As for what sort of influence Ruud might have he was a top player and apparently was a brilliant trainer but he was also very focused on himself and not necessarily the team which is why he ended up leaving under a bit of a cloud. He seemed to have a good rapport with the players in his time at PSV but he can be a difficult guy to deal with.

It's interesting that ETH is adding 2 more people who have first team management experience to his coaching staff.

There wont be any slackers and cry offs now these backroom boys are in to crack the whip, this is the bit I like most about SJR making the much needed changes and it probably wouldn't have happened at this rate under Qatar, just need to get rid of the Glazers now.

Good to see we are implementing the right setups all through the club now. Just got to see those positives filter down to the team itself.

I am confident the club is on the right track now after years of mismanagement right from the top.

I don't think players attitudes are going to change just because there's a new coach, the ones that have bad attitudes just need to be moved on.

So Van De Gaag is gone and McLaren is taking a step down, I assume he's now in the role Ramsey had before he left last season to take a job in MLS.

Fletcher looks to be replacing McCarthy in a coaching role rather than the director role he held previously. One of the few senior people in the old regime to survive the cull.

Always good to have new voices but it's vital that they're all spreading the same message to the players.

Well he changed it at least 3 times last season to suit the players he has.

I do agree we need to see a lot clearer version of what plan A is next season and plan A also needs to get convincing results and consistent performances out of the players.

These new appointments don't to me look like appointments that will stay if Ten Hag goes, if he's sacked these boys will go with him.

Well the changes didn't change the awful football we suffered, apart from the Cup final

ETH has got to change his philosophy, what he says in the press, and his tactics or he will fail.

I assume he has learnt from the huge lessons of last season and we will see a new united this year.

I cant see Villa challenging, Liverpool I think will drop off, Spurs are Spurs, and Chelsea have a very risky new manager. This is the year to challenge City and Arsenal. It's his 3rd year

I'm certainly looking forward to the season. Can't wait for it to start again.

ETH can clearly set up his teams to play attacking football, his Ajax team was proof of that but he has said to be a lot more pragmatic with the players he has here. Also I know it was said a lot last season but losing players to injury really impacted that. Losing Martinez and Shaw really stifled our ability to pass out from the back.

Got to be positive about the changes we are making at the club. Feels like it’s the start of another process but one that should yield rewards.

I felt last season after Christmas when the injuries all started hitting again he didn't change it soon enough he kept playing the crazy wide open style for far to long before he eventually changed it in the last month of the season.

Will be interesting to see what he goes for next season as it does feel like we're back to the start with him.

Doesn't feel like that at all. If we have Martinez and another ball playing CB and some energy in midfield we know what we'll get.

I dunno we fell back into old habits in the league last season and there’s still big gaps to fill in the squad.

We look a long way from the finished article.

I agree Martinez is huge but the team shouldn’t function on 1 players performance.

I feel that one of the biggest changes would be among the forwards who are refusing to pass.RVN was one of the moist selfish CFs and if he sees other players not passing to the CF in the right position he has the stature to tell them off.
