Ruben Amorim

The worst thing he could do now though is change his tactics to suit these players to try and get a few results.

It needs to be crystal clear to the whole squad that this is the way it’s going now you either get on the boat and come along for the ride or get off.

He must be thinking now that these forwards can pretty much all be replaced the quality in the final third is shocking.

Amorin needs to stick to his guns. It's the only way we'll break our of this trend of the dressing room having more power than the coach.
Yeah he has his own way of doing things and the players lack of adaptability shouldn’t stop him. There will be some pain along the way but he’s learning every day about these players.

He’s already shunted Rashford out and don’t think he will hesitate to do so on other underperforming players.

Completely disagree with the above.

Amorim will have to quickly work out that formation doesn't work in England.

Whilst working that out he also needs to work out his set piece coach doesnt work in England.

I’m not sure I agree. If a coach has to change their approach and tactics (I.e. what got him the job) then anyone could do the job? And you may as well put any old manager in charge. Managers have a style and a way of playing (sure they need tweaks and plan B) but they need an identity.

Klopp and Pep had to change their identity coming here.

Klopp quickly realised he couldn't leave his CB's exposed. Pep realised he had to move the ball forwards faster.

Top managers make changes and adapt.

I worry he won't get the time and money to implement his system at this club with results like Bournemouth

That’s not true. In Klopp’s first season at Liverpool he persisted with his preferred style of play despite inconsistent performances and results. He established which players were suited and replaced those who were not in the following transfer windows. Amorim should do the same.

Why are the players the problem?
I think some are willing and able to learn. Some aren't able to adapt and I think some just aren't willing to put the work in, to listen and adapt their preferred way of playing.

The biggest problem, as a collective, they don't seem to have that strive till you die attitude the top sides can find when they are down.

It's across at least four different coaches now for some of this lot. The dressing room attitude seems to be the one prevailing factor across this extended period of mediocrity.

If he changes his plan he looks weak and indecisive. When you commit to making a change you have to see it through. The moment you start doubting it then everyone will. You lose the group and it’s game over as the players will think they know better than you.

I don’t think we’ve seen a totally flawed system with Amorim there’s just to many errors being made. It was the same at times under ETH but there were also a lot of games where teams punished our full backs being so high up.

The board have hired him for his system and way of working he has to keep going with that idea. If it doesn’t work he will eventually be sacked but he will probably be ok with that. I expect small tweaks rather than radical changes that back 3 will be locked in.

Set piece coaching won’t fix our problem which is our players don’t like heading the ball. There’s obviously a bit better organisation that can help but they just don’t read it early and give everything to win the ball. If you haven’t got lads that are up for that scrap you’ve got no chance.

The same set of players struggled with other formations under previous managers.

It's the player that are the problem, not the system
Yep. I've been saying that for 3 years.

However the system doesn't work in England which is why no one continues to use it.

There has been a fundamental change since he has arrived that had made us far worse at defending set pieces.

It's beyond bad. It's never been like this. Basically a guaranteed goal a game at the moment.

Sure I read that Arsenal, Forest and Bournemouth are the 3 best sides at attacking set pieces so playing 3 of them so close together probably exaggerates things.

Taking Casemiro out the team is another issue. That guy is excellent in the air but he cannot run.

I still stand by my original point not enough players are good enough in the air to fix this problem properly.

The set piece coach needs binning, the keeper is poor on crosses, and the defenders are pap

Our dead ball pieces are poor too

Lindelof is very bad in the air, Deligt nothing special, Harry`s positioning on set pieces is piss poor always has been, not seen enough of Yoro yet, It really is pretty shocking that its not been addressed long ago, on top of that this keeper doesent come for the ball as much as others he`s not great in my opinion.

This is something I have been saying for a while now. Cas might be a player going out but he needs to play in the centre with Uguarte for now. When a new replacement comes in then or is going to be bought in then he can be sold or let go. The other big problem is Bruno. He cannot keep possession of the ball. A player in his position just has to keep possession and he cannot be losing possession so easily as he does.

Thought he was spot on after the game.

Basically said the challenge wasn’t today, the challenge is tomorrow can these players turn up tomorrow still showing that hunger.

No doubt some proper training sessions will help get his message across.

I think Amorim sussed a lot of these players out not long after he took over, he knows who has the desire and passion to play for the club, and who the free loaders are.
We need this kind of desire and passion week in week out.

I would love to think so. However I think the players wanted to turn up. As they did against City.

That's two big back to back results. (Personally think they should have both been wins outright but the Ref screwed us in both games)

Hopefully it's a turning point in his regime and we can kick on from here now.

I do genuinely see no reason why we can't win the Europa. If we start playing like we have to last two games we will fly away from the relegation zone and can focus on winning the Europa.

Amorim has been trying all available players early on to see who`s up to the task of playing his style and what we`ve seen more of lately is a settled team, Eriksen Rashford and Case are not his first choice thats no surprise but its still a weak squad, 2 or 3 injuries and we are in trouble.
Next season we`ll really start to see an improvement this guy is the real deal.

I think we'll know if we've really turned a corner after the next 3 games which are all games the team should expect to win.

Southampton (H)
Brighton (H)
Rangers (H)

If we can look convincing and win those 3 I think I'll start feeling a bit more confident that something is coming together.

There has to be a little concern that the squad is still very fragile and it doesn't feel like new players are going to come in to help in this window if anything a few might leave.

I can see us getting loans in.

Ferguson from Brighton might be worth a look

Loans might be an option if players do leave but can see them being like for like.

They'll only sign a striker if one of the strikers leave and it appears both are staying.

If Rashford leaves on loan then they'll need to bring in another winger/number 10 as we are a bit short of options with Mount never being fit.

If Casemiro leaves then they'll need a centre mid.

The only player who currently could leave and not need to be replaced is Lindelof but given his injuries I don't think he's going anywhere.

If there was any money for an extra player that didn't need someone to leave then they'd have to spend it on someone who can play that LWB spot. We just don't have anyone for that position in the squad at the moment and it's a problem. Shaw/Malacia can't stay fit and won't ever be fit enough to play that position so we need a left footer.

I don't think so. I think a striker arrives, even if nothing else.

Just don't see it happening he'll have to make the two he's got work until the summer you can't have 3 strikers in the squad for 1 position.

I do think it'll be a position they'll have to do something with in the summer if he can't get these two firing.

Half way through the window and nothing is happening, you would have thought that if they had anything major lined up, they would have moved by now.
We are suffering badly from a lack of goals, what we need is a proven creative player and goal scorer who's manager is pissed off with him and wants rid.

Guess it’ll be very much one player in and one player out situation! If Rashford leaves on loan, then someone like Muani may well arrive on loan.

I think most of our business will be done in the summer. Just to get through this season with what we have and maybe add a loan signing or two to strengthen the squad.
