United can't just release him, he either buys his contract out, or United pay him a hefty chunk of what he'd have earned this season.

Neither is likely to happen.

If he wants to leave get your agent to come with offers if there's no offers to take you then you'll be staying.

At this stage I don't care where he goes and what mess it leaves us in just get him out the door you can't have someone in that dressing room when you're trying to build something from scratch who doesn't want to be there. At this stage I'd tell him he's more than welcome to bugger off back to Portugal and train on his own until he finds a new club.

I don't think this is a surprise to ETH or the club by the way I think they've known all summer Ronaldo is going if they can find a buyer problem is no one wants him. Same as last summer and the clubs that did have a look last summer like PSG and City no longer need him either.

Yes, his contract should be terminated by both parties and let him sort his next move out.

Unless he's reached the point where it's anyone but Utd next season I don't see what he gains from this.

For this to work Utd would surely insist he pays back 50% of the transfer fee we paid for him for a 2 year deal around £6m.

He also risks being without a club as I doubt it's Man Utd causing the lack of interest in him if clubs approached us I'm sure we'd listen to offers as he's become a headache we just don't need.

In all fairness, he’s been honest with us the whole time. He told us last season he wouldn’t be here to play for 6th or 7th place and no trophies. Yet here we are, no transfers yet that have strengthened our team. I am annoyed by who we got so far, let alone someone like Ronaldo, at the end of his career, really wanting to stay at United, but knowing he hadn’t got long left.
he might stay if he trusted the team to qualify for the CL, to add another season to actually play in it again. But with these players we bought, I’m very worried it’s not going to happen.

Well there's a bit of a conflict there because according to the new boss he spoke with Ronaldo before the summer and told him he was part of the plans.

I can see his side of thins he didn't come here to finish 6th and then rebuild under a new manager he expected to challenge for trophies it's been a disaster and he wants to go but he needs to act like a professional until the point where he gets a move. At the moment he's trying to force the club to let him go but no one wants to buy him.

By the end of last season he appeared to be the only one trying in a lot of games but it doesn't seem like he's willing to give the new boss a chance as he knows we'll be miles off the trophies this season and we all know that. He hasn't got time to waste.

Whatever happens Utd can't activate that 3rd year on his deal he either sucks it up and gets on with it this season help us back into champions league and try to win some domestic cups then leave on better terms or find a club that willing to take you now and go.

Agree with you on that, but when ten Hag spoke with Ronaldo, it was way before we signed any players. Did they talk about who they wanted to sign?
I don’t see any ‘forcing to let him go’ going on. He asked for time off because of family matters and requested to be allowed to leave. Family matters I can quite understand after losing a child in birth. Even if it’s ‘coincidental’ with him leaving. I mean, he’s back, watched the game against Wrexham, talked to the manager. Agree with you he should act like a professional, but I’m sure he will if isn’t let go.

Let him go. He's not going too help the team in terms of the changes Ten Hag will have to make to include him. He's going to hold the team back from developing.

I don't think the lack of signings mean anything here that's all press nonsense and maybe some excuses from the Ronaldo side to try and justify him leaving, I think he's known regardless of who we sign he wanted to go this summer. When exactly he told us that seems a bit blurry. Did he decide it while he was on his summer holiday? Or did he tell the club before the season finished that he wanted to leave? We don't know for sure but I suspect it was at the end of last season.

It depends what happens now is he actually back training with the team or is he off doing his own thing?

Is he asking us to cancel his contract? If he is does that mean he's willing to pay us back some of that transfer fee we paid for him.

It's never pretty when clubs have these public sagas but if he's going to be part of this he needs to start training with the team and buying into the new bosses ideas.

his agent is in Lisbon

55m doesn't seem too much for Sesko. I guess they think FDJ will come off and blow the budget

As a boyhood fan of wrestling I love a guy with an ego and this guy has it.

He knows he’s got nowhere to go and he’s just sewing those seeds for his big return.

save me guys as I’m sitting here ready to swing that scarf in a viva Ronaldo chant

Perhaps people will realise like I've said all along its media nonsense. United tried to squash is a while back when they said he's part of the squad and has been given time off for personal reasons.

Nah, it ain’t media nonsense. He returned to Carrington accompanied by his agent. He could have easily squashed the rumours. There are no other viable options for him, either no club wants him and the other clubs can’t afford him.

Not sure about the last bit. If he wants to play CL, he could afford a big pay cut. If that CL is most important to him, he’d be gone. Not like he hasn’t got enough money. And considering how much he gives to charity, it’s not like he thinks he needs a 400k payment at Sporting for example.

He wants out but no one wants him if no one comes before the end of the window I suspect he will just get on with it.

Big question will be does ETH use him during August?

So if you're manager you play him Because he will sulk?

You realise currently you're talking to a troll. It's one troll talking to another (not deliberate troll) he announced himself a while back when he said why would they sign for you and not us.

There's a difference between a troll who's just looking for a reaction and someone who's talking the truth.

100%. Hence my brackets.

I do think the truth probably lays in the middle of both of us though.
