Yeah i'd probably still play a fully fit Falcao over him. The other night, I thought Falcao would have been in a few areas to score one of the crosses Di Maria sent in and some other times too.

Thought he played well, probably his best shwoing this season, so hopefully he'll kick on from here.

Manchester City - 2/11/2014

Nothing was created for him but he made a good chance for himself in th 2nd half.

I thought he did well while we were down to 10 considering he was fairly isolated. I'd prefer to have Falcao's pace and movement though. I think he's been a big miss recently.

BBC Sport - MOTD2 analysis: How Man City mindset gave Man Utd hope

United also made the right change at the wrong time, because young James Wilson made a big difference when he replaced Robin van Persie up front eight minutes from time.

When you play one up front with 10 men, your striker has to be able to give you a get-out when you are under pressure, whether that is by running the channels or holding the ball up.

With Van Persie up front, they did not have that. He showed one bit of class in the game, with a nice turn in the corner and a shot that Joe Hart saved, but otherwise it was a difficult day for him.

He was isolated and did not have the athleticism to run the channels effectively, or the pace to out-run Vincent Kompany or even Martin Demichelis.

Crystal Palace - 8/11/2014

He has become selfish to the detriment of the team performance. Will he get dropped?

I'd like to see Rooney up top but I can't see it happening. I think he's wasted in midfield. We're talking about, potentially, the top goalscorer for club and country. He should be the main man upfront.

If we are playing 1 up top, then RVP is not the man to do it, would prefer to see Rooney there with either Januzaj or Mata in the 10 role

Arsenal - 22/11/2014

Has to give someone else a go now. Clearly not the player he was. Wilson did more than him. Either go with Wilson or put Mata/Januzaj in and move Rooney forward.

I'm not sure why he was played as a right or left forward it's either as a 9 around the box or nothing for me, our lack of possession is hurting him a lot I feel.

It would've been better to play Rooney in RVP's position and Herrera in Rooney's.

Agree with both of the comments above, was non-effective again, but didnt get service either. Watched him play for Holland the other night and he was dropping all the way into midfield and was more mobile, he played well, but for us, as a lone striker, it doesnt work for me. Wilson can play that role, and we all know Rooney deffo can. Hopefully against Hull and Stoke, Wilo will get his 1st start

Before it didn't seem to matter but last season and this season now, we look a lot better when we have pace in attack.

Watching Rooney and Di Maria combine for counter attacks yesterday was like watching Rooney and Ronaldo against Arsenal in 09. 5 years on, Arsenal still conceding the same goals against us. 5 years on, Kieran Gibbs still gifting us goals.

Mark Lawrenson says he's heard a whisper of there being a bust up between van Gaal and van Persie, not sure if that has had any impact on his performances, if true. Only saw highlights of yesterdays game but something is definitely not right. I do agree that service has been poor however in the previous games.

If that was the case he wouldn't be playing in my opinion. Obviously seeing something in training for him to be still playing, hasn't been at his best all season, decent is the best he's been I think.

He needs to regain that confidence from the last season. But his performances has been awful lately. And with Falcao back in training, he should start on the bench against Hull

1 of those from the kick off too. Wilson 8 out of 10 on the passing front.

Hull City - 29/11/2014

Okay-ish. Fantastic strike.

His first touch was poor throughout the whole game. He showed his class at finishing but still think he is on the downward curve.

Stoke City - 2/12/2014

Okay performance. His work rate was impressive, probably the best I've seen during his time at the club. Off the ball movement was better. Minimal service.

Wilson didn't help and vice versa really. Rooney was a miss. I'd like to see Wilson play with Rooney. The 2 strikers were a big problem for us tonight. Still think Rooney and Falcao is the way to go if we can keep Falcao fit.

His movement's better and looking a bit quicker. He could do with better service.

Southampton - 8/12/2014

Our best player, even without the goals. His workrate was top notch, he was sharper, quicker and his hold up play was good. Two good finishes.

Best performance since 2012-13. Outstanding hold up play, worked his socks off and 2 great finishes to add. The match winner we signed.

Brilliant showing. He has shown signs of improvement of late, would be great if he could get back in that vein of form we know he's capable of. Seemed a million miles away a few weeks ago but something has changed thankfully.

I'm glad his hard work wasn't all for nothing, I'm glad he wasn't dropped for Wilson as some would've done. Earlier in the season he looked like trying to run after doing 100kg squats an hour before the match.

Thought he was fantastic the other night, hopefully he can stay at that level or maybe even go up another notch.

Aston Villa - 20/12/2014

Surprised he was taken off when we need a goal.

Yeah, I was surprised too. He had two decent chances in the second half.

Newcastle United - 26/12/2014

Marked difference between recent and earlier performances in the season. Movement was excellent and touch was impeccable.

Andreas Pereira just tweeted a picture from training today and Van Persie is there so reports of an injury that'll keep him out for 4 weeks seem to be false.

Edit: picture from last week apparently.

Burnley - 11/2/2015

I forgot he was playing in the first half, but was better in the second. His touch and quality on the ball was good, but movement and workrate was poor.
