So frustrating he seems to pick up these little injuries here and there! But hopefully will only miss a game or two at the start of the season.

I thought overall he did well in his debut season but needs to kick on a little bit more now. Obviously still young but the raw ingredients are all there.

I think he's massively underrated I see a proper player in him and think he'll be our striker for years to come. A young kid in a new division that had a difficult start but he's got it all.

Hopefully the injury doesn't hamper him too much. I fancy him to hit the 20 mark this year.

He’s taken the number 9 shirt this season.

The injury is an absolute stinker we had these issues with him last season and he will need to address that.

Big season for him I thought he had an ok first season but this season we need to see a lot more from him.

I think he is a very good player, but a bad buy for our current team. He's not a player that is very creative and without that I don't see him progressing with us under ETH. The system doesn't suit him, and neither do the players around him. The win against City in the cup final proves it. We did better without him and for him that is worrying. I think Zirkzee should be the starter from now on, and it's up to Hojlund to show why he should be included. He's got to add creativity to his game or he isn't much use. Rashford and Garnacho are looking for goals more than assists and Bruno doesn't seem to play well with him either.

This season is indeed a big season for him. I predict he won't be the main man up top. Zirkzee will.

I don’t think the team was set up to play to his strengths last season, even Haaland would have struggled.

To me this season is about ETH more than any player, the spotlight is right on him to now show us what he is all about, the clueless board last season is now gone and this Ineos collaboration won’t sit back and allow a bad manager to get away with it.

I think we may see a bit more variety off the wide players this season with Amad and possible Mount/Sancho use as creative players rather than the direct style of Rashford/Garnacho.

Zirkzee will probably suit the Rashford/Garnacho combo whereas Hojlund may suit the more creative wide players who will look to supply him with chances which is what he needs.

It might be that Hojlund isn't always a starter if Utd are going to play on the counter they may be better off using Zirkzee but games where they expect to dominate the ball a penalty box striker like Hojlund makes more sense.

I think beyond anything else it’ll be good to have options upfront. Hojlund will be still the number one striker this season in my opinion but sure Zirkzee will get plenty of games.

Guessing we won’t see him Sunday but hopefully he’s ready to go after the international break.

Yeah potentially might make the bench against Liverpool at a push but glad to see him back because we definitely need a focal point up top.

I hope RVN can teach him a lot about scoring goals. RVN would also understand a lot more when the wingers do not create chances for him.

One is rather spoilt when Giggs and Beckham are your providers.

We currently have one who thinks he has Mother Theresa status and is untouchable, and another who is an utter imbecile. Thankfully the other imbecile in charge of us is realising that Antony is actually shit - he just has to realise that Mother Theresa is too.

who is the other utter imbecile? The Mother Theresa issue needs to be sorted out ASAP.

I assume he means Antony who isn't playing currently.

Can't imagine Antony and Hojlund actually played that much together as Antony wasn't in the team much last season from memory.

Frankly I have no idea what ETH is trying to do and I do not think he has any idea either. You play RVN at his peak with this lot and he would suffer too.

He does indeed mean Antony, who hasn't played since he first joined us to be honest.

He initially struggled, the centre back bullied him a little bit, but he grew into the match. He likes a dink finish. Hopefully he goes on a run now and that’s the first goal of many.

Stunning little finish. He is still a little raw in a few aspects but he’ll score plenty this season.

I agree with Bob, looked terrible at the beginning, finished strongly. Should have stayed on

He certainly improved in the second half, with some very good turns past the defender who was tight on him. Lovely finish.

Just seen the highlights.

Top class performance yesterday.

Hold up play was something he was lacking last season but looks like he’s added to his game over the summer.

Or maybe Ten Hag.

We don’t really know what Ruud does day to day or individually with the players.

Even if it was Ruud. Who decided he was the man to bring in to do that job?

That is kind of my point we don’t know who does what day to day.

Hojlund is improving so you credit the player, the manager and the coaches you can’t single one of them out.

He scored 1 goal, he's hardly the new Haaland

he needs to do way more than he currently does.

He started poorly, but to his credit he finished stongly, he needs to transfer that peformance to week in week out for 90 mins. Great performance, but lets not go overboard raining praise on any coach yet for a 30 min performance.

We'll need Dumbledore transform Zirkzee into a footballer, let alone a striker.

It wasn’t the goal that impressed me it was the other parts of his performance.

Yeah it’s only Brentford but it’s good for him to get off the mark early this season.

yeah he was good for 30 mins.

But this what we should expect isn't it?

This is one of the problems with ETH, he's brought the expectations of the club down so far, we have fans accepting mid table because we are in a process, Slagging of other fans who they now call so called fans, becasue they don't accept mid table football and terrible performances from probably one of top 5 largest clubs in the world.

We are now blowing smoke up coaches because one of forwards put in a 30 min performance at home to Brentford, we should expect week in week out.

That game on Saturday, we were terrible first half, came out second half like I expect us play week in week out. Went ahead then dropped back 15 yards and brought on another defender.

I mean it's great we won, and got 3 points. But it's not time to bring out the fireworks yet.

This club is going nowhere under this manager based on that game, let alone the previous load.

Didn't read it as blowing smoke up anyone it was a backhanded dig at ETH.

It's 3 points. We take em and move on but certainly can't be unhappy with em. The attacking movement shown was actually good and they worked very well with Hojlund dropping in holding up the ball and the two wingers running on behind.

Who is accepting mid table?

Ten Hag has never said the position we are in is acceptable.

As for Hojlund is what just looking at something new he appears to have added to his game and crediting it. Last season he rarely dropped off to get involved in the build up play and when battling with CBs he’d almost always come off 2nd best.

A small step forward but it needs to be consistent can’t just be a one off

ha

not at all, there was a good spell.

Just lets not praise the coaches as the new messiahs after a decent 30 mins.

We need some level heads here. Mostly that game was pap

I do wonder why we cannot replicate that 20/30 min spell at the start of the second half from the beginning of every game. Clearly they are capable
