Malachi Sharpe, a winger, one of the Derby three, who has started 4 games for the 18s this season( with one goal) started and scored for Scotland u17 against Northern Ireland in a Euro qualifier on Wednesday, and Jack Kingdom a central defender who made his United debut for the 18s in the last game of last season but hasn't featured this year, came on as a substitute for Scotland in the same match.

United's u18 side who dominated for large periods of the game scored two late goals to draw 2-2 away to Derby County this morning, with Manni Norkett(p) and Ethan Ennis getting the goals.

Should have won the game. I tend to think I am getting really biased in my old age. Garnacho getting sent off for reacting to getting pulled back for about the sixth time really pissed me off.

Yeah should have been out of sight in the first-half ....

Not biased, the standard of Refs at that level is a joke, as soon as a a United player makes a name for himself, and Garnacho has been flying this year, they are systematically targeted by the opposition and the Refs do sod all about, but take pride in booking or sending them off if they retaliate, it was the same with Mejbri last year.

Rumours that United are looking at bringing James McAtee back to the club from Man City.

Impressive from a very young United side to beat and deserve to beat Atalanta who are no mugs at this level home and away in the last two matches, more so considering Villarreal gave United the run around at home(1-4)in the 2nd group match.

Be very surprised if Villarreal don't at least get to the Semis. United unlikely, but next year ....

Very young starting XI for the 18s v Forest today with Jurado, Bennett, Mainoo, McNeil, Hansen-Aarøen, Kambwala, Garnacho and Ennis all up with the 23s playing Leeds United at the same time,

Vitek
Ogunneye
Murray
Aljofree
Fredricson
Oyedele
Gore
Forson
Moorhouse*
Mather
Norkett

Wooster
Kingdon
Berry
Nolan
Giggs

*debut

The 18's won 0-2(Norkett and Mather), and the 23's beat Leeds Utd 3-2, Amad with two goals, and an assist for Charlie McNeil.

The 18s drew 2-2 away to Burnley yesterday, with u15 midfielder Jack Moorhouse with his first goal, and Manni Norkett the scorers.

Not a great performance but credit to the 19s coming from behind to win(1-2) at Villarreal who showed us our backsides(1-4) at the Leigh Sports Village earlier in our UEFA youth League group.

McNeil and Mather the scorers.

Todays u18 match away to West Brom which was due to be on MUTV(11:30 k.o) has been called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

Hannibal Mejbri played 63 minutes for Tunisia in the FIFA Arab Cup, creating their first goal in a 5-1 win.

Disappointing 3-0 loss for the 18s at a very wet and windy Everton yesterday, United the better team in the first-half without creating too many chances despite having the wind in their favour, which Everton took full advantage of in the second-half to run out deserved winners.

Shola Shoretire returning from injury scored as the 23s won 0-4 at Blackburn with Garnacho scoring 2, and his younger bro Tunde scored as the u13s beat City 4-2.

The u18 match tomorrow away to high flyers Blackburn Rovers(live on MUTV @ 10:45)will now be played at Carrington due to worries about the pitch at Brockhall Village, apparently it's spitting!

So the match was moved to Carrington and .... was cancelled because of a waterlogged pitch.

The pitch looked just about playable with the players lined-up to start but there was a delay because the Ambulance needed for the match to go ahead was stuck in traffic, or that's what the club said, just as likely somebody forgot to organise it with the match switched from Blackburn at short notice, if teatime the night before was short notice, anyho after a 20 minute delay when it rained cats and dogs the pitch was declared unplayable and the match was abandoned, then the rain stopped ....

Shame for Marcus Lawrence(one of this years intake), Ethan Williams(u16) and Harrison Parker(u15)who were all on the bench, and all three would probably have come on to make their United u-18 debuts.

---------------------

Elsewhere a very very young u16 side beat West Brom 7-0 to progress to the next round of the PL Cup

---------------------

And, United have signed u14 striker Majid Balogun from Lambeth Tigers, the Tigers are a team formed by United scout Jamahl Jarrett when he was working at Crystal Palace.

Undercooked United unconvincingly beat understrength Reading 1-3 to progress in the FAYC, it's Everton/Sheffield United at home in the 5th round for the Reds next.

17 year old Manchester born Maximillian Oyedele was my m.o.m, he and 16 year old Kobbie Mainoo from Stockport kinda controlled the midfield and made the difference.

FAYC Quarter-Finals:

Chelsea v Blackpool
Wolves v Brighton
Manchester United v Leicester City (Thursday 24th Feb @ Old Trafford)
Blackburn Rovers v Nottingham Forest.

United's line-up for the FAYC semi-final at Old Trafford live on MUTV(19:00 ko)

Vitek; Jurado, Bennett (c), Fredricson, Murray; Mainoo, Gore; Mather, Hansen-Aaroen, Garnacho; McNeill.

Subs: Kambwala, Wooster, Forson, Pye, Oyedele, Hugill, Norkett.

Seriously strong bench, just hope they're not needed.

Comfortable 3-0 win in the end for United against a talented Wolves side whose star man Tyler Roberts obviously spent time watching Adama Traoré videos during lockdown. Unbelievable pace and power, finishing least said.

So Forest or Chelsea in the Final, probably Chelsea and we owe them one or two, and their run must come to an end eventually, and hopefully the club cough up for more stewards so last nights 6,500 crowd can be tripled/quadrupled/x5 for the final.

Vitek 6

Jurado 7
Bennett 6
Fredricson 7
Murray 6

Mainoo 8
Gore 9*

Mather 7
Hansen-Aaron 8
Garnacho 9

McNeill 9

------

Oyedele 7
Hugill N/A
Forson N/A

* Ran the show, just pipped Garnacho and McNeil as M.o.M for me. Mainoo player of the 2nd half.

Also congratz to United's u21 girls team who won the u21 League Cup beating Birmingham City 4-1 in the Final, with Ole's daughter starting and setting up one of the goals.

Maximillian Oyedele who came on as sub for Sam Mather in the FAYC semi-final win has been called up to the Poland u18 squad, obviously got a Polish parent.

Cracking match for the 18s yesterday, Travis Binnion made 9 changes from the team that won the FAYC semi-final in midweek for the match away to Liverpool, they were/are 2nd in the League and beat us 0-5 at our place in the 2nd game of the season.

We were 2-0, 4-1 and 5-3 down but ended up drawing 5-5, and should have won it in injury time, Mather rounded their goalie and only needed to roll the ball into the net with his left foot, but somehow put it wide.

Ethan Ennis, a winger we signed from Liverpool in the Summer who has had a quiet season scored two of our 5.

Pre-season friendly results from yesterday:

u18

Hearts 1
Man Utd 5 - Norkett, Berry, Murray, Williams and Wheatley

u21

Hearts 1
Man Utd 6 - Mejia(p), Forson, McNeill(p), Mather, Shoretire and Hansen-Aaroen

THUD.

United's official website surpass themselves by actually having the new Academy/u21 player profiles up before the season starts, it's often half way through the season before they get on to it, if at all.

I know one of the recent sponsors were supposed to be taking over, maybe it's that, but the layout looks the same.

The 18s began the new season with a 3-0 win against Forest, with Norkett, Williams and Wheatley the scorers.

But some sad news, both Ethan Ennis and Ruben Curley have done their ACL's and will be out for the season, all the best in your recovery fellas.

I hadn't heard about that. Ennis had a really good end to the season too. Hope they get a full and speedy recovery

Horrible news for young players hopefully the club helps them make a full recovery and keeps them involved as best they can as losing 6-12 months on the pitch at that age is huge.

17 year old striker Princewill Ehibhatiomhan is currently on trial at United, the former Reading player is an England u18 International.

He's recently trialled at Chelsea and Southampton.

United keeper Thomas Myles(17), a Preston lad, who has been an unused sub in 6 of the first 7 games for the 18s this season, was the hero for Bradford City away to Chester FC in the FAYC on Wednesday night.

Myles, currently on a youth loan saved 2 penalties in the shoot-out after a 1-1 draw, then scored the winning penalty!

Bradford's reward for winning the tie is a match against Chelsea, hopefully United allow him to stay there and play in that match.

Edit: It wasn't the winning penalty, he went third, nevertheless ....

Missed out on the chance to feature as a trialist in United's last u18 match as it was postponed(the second time a match had been postponed at Carrington because there wasn't an Ambulance available), but he scored a hattrick a few days ago when a United u17/18 side beat Altrincham reserves 4-1

It was rumoured Chelsea passed up on the chance to sign him but it's more likely he hasn't decided where he wants to play yet.
