I do use Twitter and Instagram but you will only see what these companies think you want to see outside of the people you chose to follow I've obviously never searched for this stuff or don't follow people who might post it so I don't see it. That is the danger of social media it closes off the internet as a whole and just fires at you things it thinks you want to engage on so if you've searched for that sort of stuff on your social media page just doing a bit of research it will fire that stuff in your direction again.
Racism isn't a UK only problem and it really doesn't surprise me that a lot of it comes from that part of the world but we can't always be sure most idiots who do this stuff probably use VPN's which may suggest they are from somewhere outside the UK when they aren't.
One thing that I do think has been a sensible move is the media no longer show the tweets or comments on their websites they don't give the idiot who did it the attention they seek. They report that it's happened which I think is important but don't make that person famous.
