Teams are starting to secure spots now.

Last night a last minute Mitrovic goal secured Serbia's spot at the tournament a 2-1 win in Lisbon which means Portugal will need to secure their spot through the playoffs.

Spain went through as group winners Sweden will go to the playoffs

France have won their group with a game to spare
Belguim are also in
Denmark are in
Croatia are in Russia have a playoff spot
Germany are in as well with North Macedonia gettin a playoff spot.

More games tonight to close out the remaining European groups.

Ronaldo stropping again, towards the manager. He needs to stop behaving like that.

I haven't seen any of that but he's never going to change that he's a terrible loser always has been always will be.

Portugal always seem to make a meal of qualification but you never want to come up against them in a tournament always got loads of talent and if it clicks together they're a tough team to beat.

Would be a shame if Ronaldo didn't get one last crack at the world cup although it's hard to see Portugal being anywhere near winning it.

Not only is a terrible loser but Portugal have every right to be aggrieved. The goal that never stood against Serbia first time round in the last minute is why they're not through.

European Results

Qualified - Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Croatia, England, Germany
Playoffs - Portugal, Sweden, Italy, Ukraine, Wales, Scotland, Turkey, Russia, Poland, North Macedonia

Czech Republic and Austria also go into the playoffs via the nations league.

Are the playoffs seeded still? If so it's nonsense.

But Scotland Vs Wales would be quite the match up.

They are, Scotland and Wales top seeds so Semi is a home match

Yeah they are seeded but everyone knew this in advance it's not like a few years ago where they announced a few days before the draw that they'd decided to make the draw seeded to try and get the biggest nations to the tournament as that year quite a few big names ballsed up qualifying.

So of the 12 teams in the playoffs only 3 qualify they'll be drawn into 6 one off semi final games then 3 finals to decide which 3 teams go to Qatar.

Portugal, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Russia, Sweden are the 6 seeded sides.

Brazil became the first South American side to qualify even more impressive they did it with 6 games still to play and Argentina have also qualified with 5 games to spare. Two more south american sides will qualify automatically with a 5th going into a playoff.

Good to see I don't think it's reasonable to expect players to boycot a tournament all they can do is shine as much light as possible on the issues facing the people in Qatar and the ridiculous decision to award this country a world cup. A decision that was made by a small group of largely corrupt individuals most of whom are now banned from FIFA and some are also facing much more serious charges in courts.

You wonder if the English players will do something they've not been afraid to speak up to the issues close to home we saw them do excellant work during the pandemic to raise money for the NHS, supporting inclusivity campaigns and in the case of Rashford going toe to toe with the establishment and winning.

"We will be playing in a country where FIFA say we are going to help develop football. That is bulls---," he told a news conference

LVG didn't pull his punches when he was asked for his opinion on the world cup being in Qatar.

Good old Louis

He’s magic in a press conference at times!

Still disgraceful they were even considered to host a prestigious event like a World Cup. Stories still emerge about their treatment of the workers building the stadiums.

On the football field, the team will probably get spanked in all of their games.

Some big games coming up in qualification as the european playoff process starts teams need to get through two games to make it to the finals.

Italy vs North Macedonia
Portugal vs Turkey
Sweden vs Czech Repulblic
Wales vs Austria

Scotland vs Ukraine have both been postponed until June due to the conflict in Ukraine.
Russia have been kicked out so Poland advance to the next round where they'll play the winner of Sweden/Czech

Wales/Austria/Scotland/Ukraine bracket won't be finalised until the end of the season.

In Africa there are 5 ties to be played over two legs the winners of each tie go to the world cup.

Egypt vs Senegal
Nigeria vs Ghana
DR Congo vs Morocco
Mali vs Tunisia
Cameroon vs Algeria

Italy out of the World Cup

lost 1-0 at home to North Macedonia

Second World Cup in a row with Italy the reigning European champions.

Italy were and still are a very good side and they deserved to win the euros this summer. They did bottle in it the group stages though Jorgino missed two pens which would have seen them through in the group it's why I never got all these idiots calling for him to be Ballon D'Or. They don't have a quality striker to take advantage of the chances there were even rumours of a recall for Balotelli and without Chiesa they don't have a cutting edge.

I didn't see it last night but sounds like they battered Macedonia but didn't score then got done with a sucker punch they had 32 attempts at goal in a 90 minute game how do you not score with one of them.

I expect Mancini will walk crazy thing is had they qualified they'd have been one of the favourites to win the world cup.

Portugal had a nervy night they went 2-0 up at home, Turkey pulled one back to make it 2-1 then missed a penalty before Portugal got the 3rd late on. Portugal always seem to find a way though. Ronaldo, Bruno and Dalot all played in the game.

Another Bale masterclass saw Wales past Austria looked bouncing in that stadium at the end. Imagine as a fan waiting for so long to see your country in a world cup then finding out it's in Qatar.

Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay are all qualified from South America.

Peru, Columbia and Chile are all still able to get the playoff spot.

Portugal and Poland are through.

Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, Morocco and Tunisia are the 5 teams from Africa.

Peru claim the 5th spot from South America they now go into a playoff match.

You gotta feel for Scotland or Wales as everybody, well apart from Putin and a few of his cronies, will hope and pray Ukraine win.

Wales make it to their first world cup in 64 years.

Great achievement must be gutting to their fans as it's probably the hardest one to get to in modern times and the worst to attend.

Don’t watch many international games but did catch this one and Hennessey had an absolute stormer in goal for Wales! They definitely rode their luck but great to see them getting through to have another UK representative.

Yeah Hennessey was on fire and Davies was chucking himself in front of everything.

Think this Welsh generation deserve to go to a World Cup.

Guess the big question is what does Bale do now to keep himself fit for 6 months?

I guess wages is a big thing for most clubs but I have read he would be willing to take a big pay cut.

Cardiff have been mooted as a possible destination, would be quite a coup for them. If he was willing to take a pay cut then sure a number of EPL clubs would like to take him.
