Straightforward win…right? :p

Probably a little bit of rotation with a couple of games in a few days.

Amad in for Dalot at RWB maybe and Garnacho keeping his place. Zirkzee for Hojlund is probably another one. Yoro is probably due a start as well.

Got to keep up our shoots of recovery!

Will be interesting to see who's available that game will have taken a lot out of the players an hour with 10 men is going to really drain the tank so doubt there will be to much training before this one.

Dalot suspended
Maguire played after being ill last week.
Amad was rested due to a small injury but still ended up doing an hour.
Martinez was limping by the end of the game.

Onana

Yoro De Ligt Martinez

Amad Ugarte Mainoo Maz

Bruno Hojlund Garnacho

We've got 3 home games in a row that on paper we should be winning if he can will all 3 of them it will hopefully help to repair the damage that was done in December. Should get us through in Europe making the last game a bit of a non event where he can rotate but we need to start seeing the same team play more often.

We need the 3 points to pull away from those teams at the bottom.

I assume Southampton have stopped trying to play out from the back with a load of players who clearly can't do it. The game earlier in the season ended up being a comfortable 3-0 win but the first half hour we were all over the place and it took an Onana penalty save to keep it at 0-0 and really wake us up.

Should have a great deal of confidence going Into this game but the question will be whether we can go from the resilience shown in the last few games to the flair needed to break down a team set up to get a draw.
Hopefully, we'll get enough goals so as to be able to bring on some young players late on in the game.

I'd still expect to see some inconsistency with a squad not fully adapted to the system, and a bunch of players that aren't primed to play it. You can see they are slowly learning though.

The good news is the defence is starting to look good and the organisation back there. That is how he did it at Sporting, so we should expect to see the attack worked on a bit more after that. I think that's a solid way of doing it.

I expect the game to be a bit closer than we'd like.

Martinez looked like he picked up a knock late in the game, Collyer was pushed back into defence to plug the gap.
Apart from that, these players have three days to recover, so I would want to see a little more consistency in team selection, add to that I think after Sundays display by Bayinder it's going to grind my gears to see Jigsaw between the sticks again.

I think if it was serious Martinez would have come off and certainly wouldn't take a penalty but they might have a bit of a re-shuffle as he's probably one who's not really had much of a rest.

Yeah I wouldn't be going to big on the rotation think the starting XI needs to settle down a lot now.

I'm struggling to see why people are getting so hyped up about Bayindir's performance unless we plan on giving away a couple of penalties a game I wouldn't be starting him.

Onana bar a bit of a dodgy spell a few weeks ago where he dropped a couple of clangers is having a good season.

Bayindir's kicking is so bad you can't really play him.

My initial thought was knock, now I think of it, Collyer is a good foot taller, so the change was more tactical, Martinez is not the tallest defender in the pack is he ?
Mainly because of his performance after he settled, either it was a blinder, or there is a VDS or Schmiechel in him, he needs more games to prove it wasn't a fluke
Problem is, you never know when or how many clangers he will drop in a game
Jigsaws is no better though

Onana’s kicking is good. The long stuff isn’t great but that’s partly down to having no one to hit that can hold the ball. I’d like him to get it moving a bit quicker at times.

Onana was solid enough against the scousers no chance on either goal.

This should be a sound beating, no bullshit or excuses just get those easy three points :p

After a couple of good performances my concern is complacency against a side that is on course to be the worst in PL history. I hope Amorim plays his strongest side, plays high tempo from the off and aim to be 2 or 3 up by 60 mins, then make 5 subs to rest the core of the team.

Yeah annoying they beat Swansea on Sunday, however like you said they have a record even worse than that Derby team of 07/08

tend to watch box sets with wifey in the evening, have to speed that along tonight.

Although it is 9pm K.O. here.. You look tired darling :D

Will probably watch the first half on my phone while I wait for a 2 year old to go to sleep.

Two teams below us won so we've now dropped to 15th but win tonight and we'll move up to 12th.

Hojlund needs to score tonight.

In fact, he needs a great performance tonight. If he can't do anything against these, he's worthless.

Zirzkee should be starting this one.

This starting line up is what I believe to be our best team in Amorims formation
