Premier League 2024/25: Man United vs Liverpool - Sun 1st Sept - 16:00 KO

He is but if you don’t give him the tools to succeed he won’t.
He has the best tools, people like Antony. Players he bought.

On a serious note.... if you don't consider all the players he bought tools to use, then I'm astounded. Three transfer windows he's had. He should have all the tools; spades, shovels, a wheel barrow.

£600m for tools.

I bet there aren't many games Liverpool win 3 0 away this year.

Ipswich kept them to 2

Very tempted to avoid the forum on match days! The level of nonsense posted is off the charts.
People are just giving their opinions. That was a bad loss. It would be worse if nobody had anything to say.

It's even worse on the Caf.

I don’t think some can face the truth, making excuses for that pathetic display is laughable.
ETHs third season and this is where we are, Jesus wept.

Well I think we all know Antony is a grade A tool and a massive mistake but he’s addressed that mistake by not picking him. The club should never have paid what they paid I think that’s on the club as much as Ten Hag.

The midfield signings have been poor. How much of that is him and how much is the club we don’t really know but either way there’s a massive weakness there. Ugarte is going to need to work miracles when he’s allowed to play.

We got done today a really good team came, played well and took us apart for half hour and we couldn’t handle it and at no point put them under the same pressure. Again though our own errors caused that momentum change and all 3 goals came from our players giving it away in midfield.

I don't think every ball lost in midfield should end up a goal. The problems are all over

I think Liverpool's press was the main reason we lost, they were relentless and we could not get through the middle at any point. They locked us down on the wings very well too and these reasons are why we could not score. They ultimately targeted Cas the most and it worked a treat. That's a strategy - something we fail to comprehend or put in place effectively.

ETH went back to his 4-2-3-1 when he was having more success against better teams with the 4-2-2-2. He's starting to make no sense at all.

You thought that was a performance to be proud of?
Definitely not but some of the stuff on Onana was a little over the top. The second was a shot set out from the far post and came back in - it wasn’t a clear cut save which seems to be the consensus of a few.

I’ve never said he’s the best keeper in the world, absolutely far from it but the comments from some about him are ridiculous.

Why ridiculous, nobody said the goal is his fault, only he should be saving it. And he should, and the third

Onana isn’t good enough, his positioning is at question if you watch where he is when we concede goals, not just this match but most of the time. Antony is now collecting splinters on the bench even ETH doesn’t want to bring him on because it won’t change anything, £90 million that could have been used on two midfielders where we have a huge hole.

Not in my opinion, there were many faults that led to the goal.

i just happen to think your keeper should be able to make saves beyond the basics. And Onana cannot.

Watch it again, you'll see the shot is not that great, sure it's heading for a corner but Onana should anticipate where it's going, and he does not. That's really the only place Diaz was going to shoot with the angle he had.

Maybe I’m biased but I’m not seeing that as a basic save you expect to make.

If your keeper gets that he’s pulled off an absolute blinder. The pace on the shot beats him, it’s a quality finish.

Crazy that Onana is being criticised but shouldn’t be surprised by the nonsense. He isn’t allowed to concede a goal without being criticised.

Well oiled-machine full of players who have won the Premier League and Champions League and with recent history of winning big at Old Trafford comfortably beat team low on confidence missing several key players, just never saw it coming ....

It’s not being bias, it’s called not having an agenda.

The problem with this board is people don't read the posts. They interpret them to suit their view of the poster

I think sometimes people just want to hammer on certain players. Others then jump to their defence (guilty as charged here).

Onana has made some great saves in a Utd shirt but he’s let in quite a few stinkers.

At times it feels like shot that goes in people are saying he should get.

Most will agree he’s not a world class shot stopper but he’s a good all rounder. The team in front of him needs to stop giving opponents so many easy chances to score.

He shouldn’t be getting drawn into the conversation about how and why we got a pasting today.

He's ok, I don't mind him, long term I think he needs replacing.
But I do think he could do up his save %
Would help team morale too, if you knew your keeper was capable of extraordinary saves

As I think I’ve pointed out his save percentage is pretty much identical to our previous keeper.

I tend to agree I don’t think you win the league with him in goal but there’s way more urgent things to fix than him.

Not one to question team selections normally as the Manager is paid millions to make those decisions and it's his neck on the line if he gets it wrong but thought the decision to give de Ligt and Zirkzee their full debuts against a Dutch Manager who had Holland's Captain in his team, so woud know both players strengths/weaknesses inside out, strange.

More proof on ETH's failing tactics, and just how pitifully easy it was to beat us.

Blaming players... yeah. In this system, I personally could never do it. Not even Cas.

Casemiro was putting the same sort of performances in for Brazil last season which had nothing to do with ETH and it's why he didn't go to the Copa America. His fitness suffered due to injury and with it went his confidence and at club level he's isn't playing in a system that offers him any protection.

There are some issues with the system but there's also some poor execution of basics that have nothing to do with systems which Casemiro has been guilty of in the last few weeks.

So yes the system does have some flaws the full backs are probably to far forward meaning any turnover is curtains but the midfielders have to accept they will be put under pressure on the ball and cannot lose that ball.

I suspect what we might see as a reaction is for ETH to go a bit more cautious now rather than be brave and go as aggressive as he did vs Liverpool.
