Premier League 2024/25: Man United vs Everton - Sun 1st Dec - 13:30 KO

We should manage to win this one, but you never know whilst in transition.

Everton haven't managed a win in four games - three draws and one loss. That's quite poor form.

I think we'll edge it.

I reckon Shaw does start this one after a couple sub appearances. Probably as a left centre back but would like to see what he can do as a wing back in the Amorim system.

Wonder if this is the game we’ll see Mainoo back. He’s had a couple of games on the bench but must be close to returning.

I think Shaw starts in the back 3

Onana

Maz De Ligt Shaw

Amad Ugarte Bruno Dalot

Mount Hojlund Garnacho

Amorim did hint that he’s going to rotate a bit

He'll get more opportunities than that. I think everyone is on trial right now, and that period won't end for quite some time.

Amorim won't take as much sh*t from Rashford as EtH did, he will know which players can play in his system, and which can't, 3 games is ample time to show what you can offer.

That might be the case if it was a fully functioning system - it is not.

If you put Rashford in Amorim's Sporting team with clear instructions then we'd know more.

We've got to wait until the team gets up to speed.

For what it’s worth the more complicated the system the more I see Rashford struggling.

Not saying he’s thick just think he’s got 1 way of playing and if he’s not allowed to play off the shoulder out wide he struggles.

I don’t think Amorim will waste much time with him I can see him thinking it’s time to move this guy out.

I agree to a point, he is very one dimensional; that doesn't mean he can't play a role in this system though. I think he can play as one of the attacking three, but it's going to come down to how much he wants it. When he plays he must start scoring to keep his place. I think for Amorim to use him consistently his performance level must come up a lot. Right now though I still think it's too early in the day to know who is going to thrive in this system and who isn't.

I suppose there are a few certainties, but where they fit is still largely unknown, even to Amorim. An example being Bruno trialed in CM.

When in this type of transistional period judging players performances can be hard.

Rashford doesent look like he will fit in atm under Amorim and I can see him being sold if someone can match his ridiculous wages.

I am concerned about Mainoo. Not even had a look in yet.
I think he’s just being managed to be honest - maybe he’s not 100% fit and it hasn’t been the right scenario in the first two games to bring him in. I reckon he’ll probably start one of the next couple of games.

Radford struggled when ETH went from counter to possession based
He's now had 2 seasons of stick from the fans.
He just needs his confidence building. I do believe he could fit this system.
But if I was him, I'd leave after all that stick.

If a bit of stick from fans is destroying your confidence then Utd isn’t the place for you. That exists at every big club and will never change.

As for Mainoo think he might start today.

Think he’s having to manage the number of returning players he puts in the team as he knows some players are only going to last 45/60 mins.

Arsenal midweek so it’s vital we get the 3 points here as anything away to Arsenal will be a bonus.

I did see someone suggesting he’s split the training down into 2 groups one that’s playing and one that isn’t.

He has said for 2 days after a game the sessions have to be quite light.

Big chance for Zirkzee to show the fans what he’s really about.

Strong team.

Don't think that I would have dropped Hojlund today, unless he's just spent.

Happy for Zirkzee to get a chance though.

I think this is spot on! I think a number of United managers have felt they can restore Rashford and make him consistent. But with Amorim I think actually his system doesn’t suit Rashford and so he may have to move him on.

Amorim himself has said Rashford can play all three positions up front.

Rashford can be a part of it if he wants it enough.

We all know Amorim won't keep him if he doesn't start performing so I reckon the question will be answered by the end of the season.

I don’t see it. He’s not a #10 and he’s not a central striker. Amorim is going to say he can play all 3 but the reality is he can’t. And he doesn’t have the work rate or appetite for it.

I don't think he's suggesting Rashford is a #10. He's saying he has versatility and can be used on the right, left, or up front.

For a man with such tactical nouse, you will see a lot of things switching, and you won't always find the creative #10 on the left or right, they'll be where Ruben wants them against differing opposition.

Zirkzee is an odd choice

But I guess even the previously crappy players need to be given a fair chance.

Big game for him. Needs to do something

Why are they off the pace?

There's not any evidence of that yet, IMO.
Zirkzee always looks like he's too slow for the game. Old Casemiro looks like he's too slow to time a difficult tackle or track back. I feel like we've seen this a lot. Hojlund is obviously knackered after Thursday so giving JZ a chance is a fair thing to do. But I fear he will be off at half time. Hope I'm wrong.

This is it, clean sheet and a fresh start they are all being given a chance to prove themselves. In a few weeks he’ll have a better idea who he prefers.

“It’s more like a training session than a warm up” Alex Bruce pitch-side @Old Trafford

Interesting, very interesting

They'll be fine. Have faith.

We're not a poorly managed team anymore.
