Still a bit of a way off this game but good to get the discussion in early.

Really excited to see what Amorim can bring to the party but obviously Rome wasn’t built in a day! I wonder if he’ll stick to the formation the players are used to before kicking on with his way or more likely use it from the get go. A lot of his players are off on International duty so will be tough to implement a new system and a new method right off.

Ipswich probably didn’t want a break as sure they would want to kick on right away after their win last time out. Whoever was going to be in charge for this one though should get us a win.

Yeah, I fancy Amorim to open with a win.

After reading most of what he's said I'm not so sure what formation he's going to choose. He said he can't play the same way he did at Sporting so it leaves open the possibility of something brand new.

I think we could have done without the break too, we were slowly climbing the table.

10 days to wait, and I'm struggling without any football already...

Tricky game as their crowd are going to be bang up for this one and they've finally got that first win under their belt.

For us so much will depend on who's available he's not really going to have the squad until Thursday/Friday as players drift back from internationals so how much can he really drill into them in the 2 days of training?

You wonder does he go straight into the 3-4-3 and hope that the quality difference gets the result or does he just leave them in the shape they're comfortable with for a few games while they work on the new shape in training.

Just needs 3 points whatever he does to keep climbing that table and stay in touch there's so many teams bunched together.

Surprised at the negativity.

Should be a comfortable win. New manager bounce against one of the worst teams in the league.

They took a battering off City and West Ham (which seems like a bit of a freak) but all their other games have been pretty close.

The negativity is we have no idea what to expect but we're going up against a side who are well settled in now.

They give away a lot of goals so if our attackers are sharp you'd hope we've got enough to fire a few past them.

Glad they got that first win out of the way last time out, going for a tight/tense 1-2 United win

Still having nightmares about the 6-0

Cant see Amorim making radical changes in formation from the off he has to see what he`s working with first so I think he`ll play fairly safe to start with and hopefully a win.

funny, I think the opposite, can't see him changing the formation that he has always used and got him this far.

I think it will be a fantastic attacking performance and we'll win by 4

You not think he will have watched videos of all United’s games this season, and the FA cup final last season where everything came together, he will be well aware what he’s got to work with

There's a huge difference between watching videos and even training to what actually happens on the pitch, thats why Rashford keeps getting picked because in training he looks like a world beater, then it all falls apart...

Too much is being made of the 3 at the back if you watched how he set up against City they reverted to 5 in defence when under pressure its not exactly new, what you need is a very hard working team for it to work though and that might be a problem at United to begin with.

Huh, the videos of the matches will show him exactly what happens on the pitch ie. which players switch off when the other team have possession, which players instinctively know where to run and what to do when United win the ball back wherever it is on the pitch, or lose the ball etc etc

5 while defending is a fundamental part of 3 4 3 or 3 5 2

We've got some playes who can fit into this system. You'd like to think a proefessioal footballer could play any position though

It's going to be interesting to see how he sets up his first team, and then how quickly he changes it :D

I think he will change the formation he needs to set it in as quickly as possible.

He needs to players to understand the distances to make his system work.

Every game is must win now as we play catch up so if he doesn’t change it now when will he?

Yoro, Mount, Shaw, Malacia and Antony all trained today with Amorim.

Hopefully injuries are starting to ease

It's a good time to get players back, there is a very busy period coming up.

Yep 2 games a week for the next 4 months.

No more internationals until March.

All about getting into a winning rhythm.

Don't forget Kobbie as well, would be amazing if we could have maybe 3 back on the bench Sunday (thinking Yoro, Malacia and Mainoo)

Looking forward to this, it’s exciting to see how the team will play and perform under a new manager. No international break until March. Football is back! My favourite period of the season.

So he’s not gone 3-4-3 then? Can’t imagine you are going to see much different today which I guess isn’t surprising but it’s got to be a little disappointing for you that he’s not massively changed things?

I did wonder whether he needed more time before implementing his preferred formation. Or potentially Casemiro at the back? But it does look like our normal formation unless there is a little surprise in there. Dalot as one of the three at the back and Garnacho at LWB?

Who knows!

Disappointing really, I hope there are some changes in formation

I guess at the end of the day he’s still working with the same players, so it was never going to be any changes in personnel really. Interesting to see the formation though and who is where.

I think you’ll probably see a different line up in the next game as no doubt Martinez and Ugarte are being rested on the back of their International exploits.

Obama
De Ligt Casemiro Evans
Dalot Eriksen Bruno Mazroui
Amad Garnacho
Rashford
