Premier League 2024/25: Aston Villa vs Man United - Sun 6th Oct - 14:00 KO

I think you have to look at a point away at Villa with a clean sheet after an away game in Europe as a decent result.

Think I said in the other thread the result today wouldn’t decide his future.

International break may act as a bit of a reset but it’s going to need a hell of a run to repair the early season damage.

It's a good point. The negativity after a point away against a champions league side is what I mean about people not grasping where we are.

The teams we are competing with (Villa Spurs Newcastle Chelsea) all also dropped points this week. It's been a good weekend for us. It's a difficult game out of the way without losing ground.

It's United vs Villa but it isn't '99 it's 2024. They beat Munich midweek not the relegation fodder they are still perceived as by some.

I think the point would feel a lot better if we had taken more points out of Palace, Brighton and hadn’t been thumped by Spurs.

Doesn’t help when you look at the table and see we are already 6 points off the pace.

8 points from 7 games 5 scored 8 conceded isn’t going to have people in a great mood.

The performance was obviously not great but the result was decent to be honest. I half expected us to get pumped but our defence was pretty solid but it is worrying that our attack is lacking any sort of cutting edge. Hojlund and Zirkzee were pretty poor and Garnacho very wasteful. Thought Antony looked bright when he came on but overall a poor game.

I suppose the result is good if viewed independently

But every game that goes just makes me think we need to change, there is no forward momentum and I think it needs a freshen up.

We've got to be challenging higher up the table.

Apparently the board is meeting on Tuesday

Yeah 14th is unacceptable but I don’t tend to look at the table until about 10-12 games in as that’s when you can start to get a good idea of where you are as a team and how the season may unfold. A poor start can be rectified and that’s what we’ve got to hope for.

Brentford first up at OT after the break and that’s a must win to start some momentum going.
