Bloody 8.15 KO's when did these become a normal thing.

Always tight games against Wolves expecting a low scoring game feels like it'll be settled by a goal either way.

They have caused a few upsets this season, they're in decent form and the home game we really struggled with their midfield runners. They came steaming through us time and time again and we didn't really have an answer to it, lucky for us they wasted chance after chance.

For Utd Onana is back from AfCoN and Rashford may be back from "illness" so squad is starting to look a bit healthier, didn't look like anyone picked up knocks yesterday and not sure if Mount will be ready to return for this one. Amrabat has his second round game on Tuesday night so don't see him being back in time if they were knocked out.

Yep if everyone is fit and ready to go again it's probably Onana in for Bayindir as the only change from Sunday.

Maybe Rashford in for Anthony but given the events of the last few days I suspect he'll start on the bench for this one.

Would be nice to see a much more settled XI for the remainder of the season to see if there are signs of progress and a reason to stick with the current manager.

He should definitely be punished and as much as Antony was super frustrating last match, he actually did do a few key passes an assist and scored a goal. He actually deserves to build on that. What am I saying? lol

The only thing is that brings a new problem with it, Garnacho on the left, when he's clearly better on the right.

Glad Hwang Hee-chan is unavailable(Asia Cup) on Thursday night because he's been mighty impressive this season, won't be long before the big clubs come a sniffing.

I think it's to early to say Garnacho is better on the right than the left, what is nice is it appears he can be a threat on both sides he isn't just limited to one wing like the other wingers in the squad.

I'm really not sure what we can do about Anthony. He works hard enough that I don't mind him being given chances and the Rashford issue probably means he gets another chance here but there has to be some quality that goes with it. His pass to Bruno was a nice assist but his goal was a tap in and the time between his assist and his goal didn't really fill me with much optimism. He just looks like a dud another one for the scrap heap of bad signings that will linger around for another 2 years before eventually leaving.

Fair point about Garnacho, he has two brilliant feet doesn't he? I think for me though he's been slightly better down the right.

Antony like I said is super frustrating, and he ultimately confuses me. I'm still debating if his frustration is worth it. You can't argue with a goal and an assist can you? He managed those and was in the right positions to achieve them, again you can't argue that. He did it. My question is can he keep making assists and scoring goals for any length of time? Every 5 games isn't going to cut it.

I do see you've made up your mind though and that's fair enough I can see it going that way too. But will it?

Agree. They still have Neto and Cunha tho.

Everybody raves about Neto so I think i'll have a look see next time he plays then he always gets injured, hope he doesn't read this or he'll be suing me LOL

Liked Cunha first time I saw him play for Brazil, tough to stop when he's in full flight but unfortunately for him his feet are on the wrong legs.

I think stats always need some context a goal and an assist on paper is great but both were quite simple things to do it was a pretty simple cut back and a tap in to an empty net.

Just seen enough with him to think this lad hasn't got it. Whether it's a case of the club being a bit of a mess or the off field stuff has done his confidence who knows but there's so few flashes of brilliance from him where you think that is genuine quality. I was happy to give him a bit of time and hopefully he comes good but I feel like I've seen enough now to say it's not going to happen for him.

You have the perfect opportunity on Thursday.

Cunha is the man we should be watching IMO, he's the in form Wolves attacker.

I pretty much agree with you - just think after the game at Newport we should give him a chance to see if he can build on it. He's had a tough time recently and maybe that is about to end. Maybe his head is in the right place again. If he can stop cutting inside for that stupid shot he does, then I'll be a lot happier with him. That is what gets my goat.

I think Neto is the real deal would be very surprised if he's still at Wolves next season if he stays injury free to the end of the season I think bigger teams will come in for him.

Cunha is a funny one he's a real handful when he runs with the ball but the end product is so hit and miss... mostly miss!

Hopefully he doesn't have his shooting boots no this Thursday.

Yeah he'll get the start because of the Rashford situation but once that's blown over just feels like it'll be back to the front 3 of Rashford/Hojlund/Garnacho. If he gets the start he needs to show that he's good enough to keep the spot for West Ham at the weekend.

Think for everyone you need to earn your shirt with your performances don't give the manager a reason to put another guy in there's 3 tough games coming up in the next 2 weeks. Wolves (a), West Ham (h) and Aston Villa (a) if Anthony wants that starting spot he needs to show up in all 3 games and have a positive impact. It's nearly a year since that Barca game at Old Trafford which for me was the last genuinely impressive game he had.

I don't mind him cutting in and shooting but it needs to be done with some force currently his shots would struggle to beat a 12 year old. They're either miles off target or so soft that the keeper isn't troubled.

I could swear he was doing better than that. Maybe he's got some assists too, or maybe some hard fixtures just went by... I'm not always right ;p

He has 4 goals and 4 assists in his last 10 games. That is great form for a Wolves attacker. Nearly some involvement in every game.

Where did you get the assists stat from? Not disputing it. Vaguely remember him assisting one recently on M.o.T.D

And that will be the same place(FPL website) I got the goal scored from then

As you were.

Great place to find all the goals and assists you want to find.

Rashford will get that spot back fairly easily. We both know why though - ETH won't risk not having Rashford in the team long because he's so dangerous. He'll be lightly punished with one game out probably. Antony needs to impress in this next game and give the manager a problem. I personally think any involvment in a goal might be enough to give ETH a problem. It wasn't a perfect game against Newport but he was the reason we won, and you have to admit that. So yeah ETH might have something to think about if Antony can get a goal or an assist again.

Not my bag normally, and the very rare occasion i've visited that website in the past I thought it was poor, if the stats are as accurate as their transfer valuations I wouldn't take it too seriously.

Don't know why I always read it as transfermeerkat

I like to see Antony on the left for once. Rashford had to play on both wings while Antony only gets to play on the right. Everyone has sussed him out as he gets onto his left foot and shoot from range.

If Anthony and Garnacho are playing well then Rashford will have to enjoy those comfy seats on the bench. ETH has been pretty consistent when it comes to picking players who are in form I don't think he's shown any additional loyalty to players who are his guys.

Play well you are in, play badly and you're out.

I wouldn't judge him on goals or assists I just want to see him being a threat to the opponent. Create chances for your team mates and force their keeper to makes some saves if you are doing that each week eventually goals and assists will come your way. There's just been to many games where neither of these things happen from him he needs to start making things happen rather than wait for them to happen.

Well I had a look through on BBC Sport game by game and they are all there. He's as I thought, pretty much their form attacker right now. He's the guy we need to stop. I'm not saying he's Vinni J or anything tho! Still a man that should be assigned some sort of tactics to stop.

Well as much as I love Rashford when he's on form, I hope that's the way it goes. The men in form are always the people that should start. I agree. It's why I'm saying Antony deserves to build on his last performance, and I actually think he might. One thing that is never in question with him is his work effort and that's something very much lacking in our team right now. Not enough people fighting like it's their last game ever - that's what champions are.

One thing that I really think would help Anthony is to try and block out the crowd and his opponent. He seems very easy to wind up and once he is wound up he focuses more on fighting you than actually hurting you with the ball.

Top players react the crowd by making it count on the scoreboard not trying to organise a scrap in the tunnel.

I just really struggle with seeing what Anthony is actually brilliant at and little glimpses that give you hope that there is a player in there. Yeah he'll work hard but Pellistri will do that as well. You need to see quality with the ball that hurts the opponent regularly and we just haven't seen enough of it with him 18 months in.

I think he shows promise with the ball at his feet. His technique is very good and he can beat a man - the con is that he usually makes a bad decision with the final part, which is obviously as you say a lack of end product. That may still come though, he's had a good amount of time to show us something though and I completely get where you are coming from. I wouldn't even question a sale this summer, but it just niggles at me that there may be more to come from him - something hasn't fully clicked yet. How long we will wait is obviously not my decision though.

I think his biggest problem is that he is trying to score himself too often. This is where a top manager would come in and say hang on you do not have to be scoring to be in my team. Contribute well and that is why I need you. This is where I do not understand ETH. His Ajax never was this selfish at all. I mean no Ajax team was selfish as that was not their philosophy. So what can't ETH get this right at United?

As I eluded to in my early post wasn't questioning the 4 assists as I found the same info later on the FPL website where I found he'd scored 2 in his previous 7 games.

There was a thread on this forum maybe 18 months ago when he was linked with United and I was all for it him signing at the time, more on raw potential than any major output, so yeah well aware of him. Hope EtH is.

Manager Erik ten Hag on team news: "Mason Mount is too soon [for this game]. Andre Onana will return."

Manager Erik ten Hag on players returning from injury and preparing for Wolves: "Every game we have to see as a final and every game we have to get the best out of it. This team has so much experience, they know that.

"I'm positive that now we have our players back, although they need to get match-ready.

"We have to make the next step as a team and as individuals to get the performance. We know we have to catch up [on the top four].

"The team will be stronger. When we miss players in crucial positions it weakens the team, especially when you have to swap almost every game with the line-up.

"First of all, now we have to keep players fit; second, get them into form; and third, when we have all of that, the results will be better."

Manager Erik ten Hag on confidence levels in the squad: "We are quite confident because on our best days we can beat anyone, but on our worst days we go down to certain limits that aren't acceptable.

"We have to push our limits to higher levels so that also on our worst days we can get results in.

"Everyone in the squad is very convinced about this and they know that players are returning from long-term injuries so the team will be stronger. That helps motivation, mood and spirit in the team."

It's a mammoth task for this lot to get top 4 they almost need title winning form to catch the teams above them so every game really is must win.

A win for Wolves actually puts them above us in the league.

A win for Utd puts us in 7th 8 points off Villa in 4th but with the goal difference being horrific it's basically 9 points.

Give it a rest will you, think we all know you're views on our T4 chances.

We just need to string a few results together and keep the pressure up on the teams above us, and be ready when and if they slip, and one or two of them almost certainly will ....

If we can claw back 4 points in the next 7/8 games we are right back in with a shout, slowly slowly catchy monkey ....

It's more than just a few wins we probably need to get about 40 points from 17 games.

Win the next 3 including this one and we've got a chance but it's going to need a hell of a run to claw this back.

No talk of him going out on loan, or being sold, wondering if Shola Shoretire will get a look in tonight, Rashford will replace outgoing Pellistri, but if EtH juggles his bench there may be room, he scored what will probably come second to Garnacho's goal(at Everton), in the United goal of the season recently against Chelsea so must be getting close.

I don't think you can really compare this lot to a team that was in a title race. From memory that season it was pretty back and forth Utd got on a great run to get ahead of City who wobbled then the tides turned back to them and they took it on goal difference

Utd probably need to string a run of 5games unbeaten together Wolves (a), West Ham (h), Villa (a), Luton (a) & Fulham (h). That's the next 5 games all games Utd are capable of winning they need to take a lot of points in these games probably looking at 13 maybe even the full house to really be in that race.

United are still in the mix for a top 4 finish but given their consistency this year I’d suggest it is unlikely. But hey look Villa may fall away after such a great first half of the year. I think the top 3 are pretty much set so it really is all about whether United can find the consistency they had last year.
