Premier League 2023/24: Man Utd Vs Everton ~ Sat 9th Mar 12.30pm KO

Try watching it from an Everton perspective and seeing United tear you apart time and time again.

I’d be more frustrated at how easily their attacks break down if I was an Everton fan.

You have to remember we are playing a poor side at home but still giving the ball away an alarming number of times, a good side will take us apart.

Need another goal to kill them off.

Hard to really see how he can change it from the bench.

Ground is dead as well can almost feel the nervousness.

Sometimes I wonder if ETH watches the same game.
How Mainoo went off before cas....

It’s all about headers.

If Everton start getting that ball in the box in the last 10 you want Casemiro on the pitch.

Just shutting up shop now.

Garnacho off Anthony on.

I'd like us to not be shutting up shop, 2 nil up at home to Everton with 10 mins left
But I see how those subs mean that now you've said it.

Dull game no wonder the ground was flat, play like that against the Dippers and we’ll get roasted.

Better execution in the attacking third could have produced a few more goals. Second half was boring.

Amrabat had a good few minutes. As a holding midfield player he is a better player than Cas certainly now. He is quicker and better tackler too. Antony was brought on for his defensive abilities and he did well in defending. I think he may turn out to be a very good left full back. He has good ball control, is quick and can tackle too. Like Evra used to be a left winger early in his career.

We need to get that midfield to stop the opposition from shooting.

Amrabat looked poor again to me.

But I wont judge him, just not had the minutes to show his abilities

23 shots conceded against Everton - 50 shots in the last two games.... A 2-0 win, but no goals from open play.

Worrying.

Did you watch the same match? He played around 14 mins and he had a good game. Good pressing, good tackling, good passing and good movement off the ball and good running. So how did he have a poor game?

Gotta be having a laugh. He's had a good game by playing 14 minutes? You realise that in that space of time it's possible that a player doesn't get more than 5 touches.

Amrabat is not possible to be judged in our team, he hasn't played enough, it means exactly nothing what he's done for Morocco.

Then you say he has too short a time to be judged. Not that he was poor. In the 14 mins he played well.

So that's exactly what I did say.

--------------------

As for did I watch the match, yes I did. He gave the ball away sloppily, as did most of the team, on the edge of our box.

He looks slow and way off the pace. But my original post gives a reason for that.

As for keeping him, even in limited minutes you've got to show something, he doesn't. I guess he doesn't in training too, hence the limited minutes

Amrabat looks slow to me surely he`s had enough time to get match fit by now, something odd going on down there at the training ground or he`s not built for the prem.

To be fair, the whole team looks slow 75% of the time, at doing almost everything. It's again the case of being unable to properly judge anybody with such poor consistency. I think Amrabat's already lethargic style makes him look even slower in our team. As for him not making the line up often, that could simply be manager error. Maybe he is good enough, but ETH isn't allowing him to get a run in the team.

I read just now that against Palace in the cup, a game he started, he had a pass completion of 96%[81 passes] and won 100% of his tackles made; 5/6 duels won.

That's not a bad performance. A while ago.... but still, it proves he can play against premier league opposition.

Branthwaite looks a very promising CB I hope the rumours are true that we are in for him in the summer if the club can raise the funds by shipping some deadwood out.

I read we were interested in Yoro at Lille, who looks a very good prospect.

However, Madrid are sniffing too :(

Needs to learn to stay on his feet, goes to ground a little to quickly for my liking.

Almost gave a penalty away diving in on Rashford but it was given as offside.

Yet his defending was enough to stop us scoring in open play at OT.

I have no idea what you're on about with him going to ground ;/

Watched the whole game and I remember him on his feet for most of it. lol

The Everton kit man must have been fuming with the state of those shorts when he did the wash.

He made a great tackle to stop a tap in, think that one got pulled back for offside too.

Lots of positives but that’s something he needs to address, going to ground should be your last resort as a defender.

I'd rather my player go to ground and keep a goal from being scored, than be able to say at the end of the game they've got clean shorts.

Martials kit hasn’t been washed for years at least that’s one positive the club has saved a couple of quid on washing powder.

As I stated Rashford had him on the deck with a penalty awarded only for VAR to pull it back for offside.

Garnacho also had him sat down but dithered allowing him a second bite.

Nothing wrong going to ground when you need to I think he just does it to much and forwards will work that out and exploit it.

When was this? He did tackle very well and he passed very well and moved off the ball well. He made one thru pass for Rashford from the right back position and all Rashford had to do was keep running and the ball would catch up but Rashford stopped to look around for the ball and the moment was gone. It is understandable that Rashford stopped because probably they have never together and he probably did not expect that pass to come.
