Pre Season 2024/25

Mostly young uns again and Yoro travels with the squad, a mate says Maguire is still injured?

From the official site:
Yoro comes into the squad alongside Amad, Andre Onana and Jadon Sancho who would all get their first minutes of the pre-season if they play at Murrayfield, having not travelled for Monday's game in Norway.

Antony, Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford miss this one with small niggles. Harry Maguire is also an absentee but has been seen in training this week as he works his way back to full fitness from an injury. Tyrell Malacia is continuing his fitness programme at Carrington meanwhile, where Scott McTominay is also building up his sharpness having recently returned from the Euros.

The penny has dropped and hit with a thud, they are looking to offload Antony by loan or selling.

Amad looking absolute dynamite in the first half! A great goal and has been a constant threat.

1-0 for United at half time, Amad with the goal. He’s looked the most likely for United. United have played some decent football, Wheatley and Sancho should have scored. Once good pass and tackle by Yoro, he has looked composed.

Think this could be the real breakthrough season for Amad. He showed flickers last season but he is so so classy.

Finished 2-0. The whole team with the exception of the goalkeeper was replaced at half time. Top strike by Hugill for the second.

Mainoo's minder in the 18's looking better and better everytime he pulls on the red shirt. Love watching him play.

Eriksen and Hojlund have returned to training.

Guess they’ll be flying out to the states later this week for the tour.

When do the team fly out to America - today or tomorrow? It will be interesting to see who is in the squad, hopefully Zirkzee. Do we reckon Shaw should be on the plane today/tomorrow?

Won't Zirkzee be on holiday? He was with the Dutch squad at the Euro's so not sure he'll go on tour.

No Malacia

Utd must be being extremely cautious with this lad.

Steve McLaren hasn’t travelled he will train the internationals who haven’t gone on tour due to holidays.

Think they`ll be looking for a new left back we cant go another season with two that are injured all the time.
Maguire fit again.

I reckon they might try and get 1 on loan like they did with Reguilon last season.

From memory there was a lot of hype around Harry Amass last season, he's gone on tour but he's still very young only just turned 17. With Europa League and League Cup games there's maybe an opportunity to take a gamble on a young kid like Amass.

Personally I think we buy a better right back than AWB and if both the current LB's are injured you just move Dalot to the left side.

Tend to agree can't see them having 3 specialist left backs in the squad.

Hopefully they're just being really careful with Malacia this time and slowly building him back up to make sure he's ready to return to action.

1-1 at half time. United played some decent football at times in the first half. Injuries injuries injuries! Hojlund and Yoro both replaced due to injury. Hopefully just precautionary.

Comfortably the better side in the first 30 minutes, but EtH's decision to replace Hojlund with Mejbri thew us off our stride and we never recovered the control again, but who cares .....

Collyer continues to impresss, as did Amass ater he recovered from the embarrasement of having to hold somebodies hand when he entered the field, was really funny, bet it was the longest walk of his short life for Amass

Just realised United won a penalty shoot-out!!

Not sure I quire see it with Collyer to be honest. ETH does seem to be introducing him as the next cab off the rank so who knows - but from what I seen he’s a solid enough player, not sure about kicking on to that next level though.

Amass has talent in spades so I think he will eventually be our left back, whether that’s as a back up for Shaw for a while or leapfrogging him in the pecking order - but he’s got a long way to go.

Hopefully the injuries to Hojlund and Yoro aren’t too serious. We do not want this injury cursed season again!

Injuries are going to happen, it's football. The thing we need to do is just hope they come at a more steady/less serious rate, one that we can handle. I'll be happy with that. Bad news about Yoro though, I didn't expect to see him hobbling around already.

I hear Collyer and Amass are impressing which is great there could be spots for them in league cup or Europa league squads this season which could be a great way to ease a few youngsters in.

The Yoro injury is a blow hopefully it’s not to serious seen it reported as a sprained ankle but still it’s not what you want in pre season as it instantly puts you behind other players fitness wise at the start of the season.

Looking forward to seeing Isco play in the wee small hours of Thursday morning, 32 now, but what a player as a youngster, loved watching him play, had everything going for him ..... just never came close to reaching his potential

One of those if only players that frustrate me so much.

Yep fantastic little player that season with Malaga where they’d spent all that money he was brilliant.

Probably only 1 season at Madrid where he ever showed his true potential playing at the tip of a diamond behind Benzema and Ronaldo.

something needs to be in our medical dept, we cannot afford a season full of injuries again

I suspect the medical department would tell them to stop dragging players on these stupid pre season tours where they play on terrible pitches that are not designed for football.
