Pep Guardiola at Manchester City 2016/17

Because they are sat in the top 4, they started the year well and are still in the title hunt. Chelsea are in great form but they'll stumble at some point just like City have. We are nowhere near the top 5 in terms of points that's why Jose is coming under so much scrutiny.

I was referring to the behaviour of the two managers. Mourinho has been criticised for his touch line behaviour while relatively little has been said for sarcastically clapping referees.

Jose gets scrutiny from us fans for the lack of points but that shouldn't happen with officials. We have had a series of shoddy decisions this season including a game changer against city. There may well be a rule saying you shouldn't kick a water bottle but should a manager really be sent off for that. In the game against Chelsea pep sarcastically cheered a decision for city and laughed at the referee. I don't believe these 2 decisions would have been viewed the same had they been the other way round. Jose would still have been sent off and pep would have been told he is a tactical genius and complemented on his stylish right foot.

What is going on with City? Defeat last week to an inform Chelsea team is no disgrace but they lost it at the end of that game and they've started tonight really badly.

Pep certainly seems to be trying to change far too much every week! In terms of players and formation and even playing people out of position. It's like he is trying to prove how good he is.

He seems high as a kite there. Seems like he is cracking under the stress of the job in England

I see Pep is throwing his toys out of the pram now? He was utterly miserable when interviewed after the game yesterday and now is saying he's coming to the end of his management career. Smacks to me of a guy saying things aren't going his way for the first time in his career so I'm going to sulk. If Jose would have appeared the way yesterday the media would be all over him!

Seems to be cracking under the pressure. Not sure where things have gone wrong for City because they looked formidable up to two months ago, perhaps teams have followed Pochettino's blueprint from when Spurs beat them to end their streak. Heavy pressing on their defenders and keeper.

I think one thing they really lack is attacking full backs. All of Pep's teams have had really good attacking full back outlets to break teams down if things get too clogged in the middle. Given their style of play of trying to play it through teams, defending narrow can subside that.. However with attacking full backs, you could get around that and take advantage. Barca used to pass through teams for fun, however a high number of goals came through Alves down the right or Alba on the left when teams have been defending too narrow. Same at Bayern with Bernat, Alaba and Lahm. There are other glaring issues, but I wouldn't be surprised if City signed a new right back and left back soon.

I think his biggest problem is that the PL is ultra competitive and he doesn't have the players to be able to walk any game. There's no weeks off in the PL or easy gimmes. He's never had that before and he's always walked in to a successful team that has players who can play his style. At City he's not got that. He's got a lot of gifted individuals who don't have the football intelligence to play his way. And a team that in the past have won the league based on individual talent rather then as a collective.

That's true too. Most weeks in La Liga or the Bundesliga Pep could rotate due to the standard of opposition. No game is a dead cert in England. Also he seems very demanding on his players, which can obviosly get too much if the squad isn't there to rotate much and if each fixture is as competitive as they are. Pochettino seems to have a similarly demanding approach, however adopts a different style of play which works better.
