Sounds like it was Juve pushing everything more than the player he didn't want to come to England full stop his preference has always been a move to Spain if he had to leave Juventus.

They might still try and force him out to get him off the wage bill but I don't think any of the rich Spanish clubs are really interested in him as they've already got those positions covered.

Worryingly it shows that the pulling power of the badge is gone Utd need to sort things on the pitch to make these guys want to come you need to have the best players if you want to win that's a fact. You obviously can find the off hidden gem and develop a few from within but you need to be able to attract the best and right now the best don't want to come here that needs addressing.

Missing top 4 last season probably did have an effect on what we could do this summer if we had CL football maybe Dybala is interested and maybe others are interested, maybe the budget is a little bigger as well as you have that income to play with etc.

Anyway that's all done season starts now so no point dwelling on it... I'll do that in another thread.

Not saying I'm looking forward to seeing them this season but I am interested to see how Ole attacks it I didn't watch any of the pre season games but sounds like we're going for a 4-2-3-1 rather than the 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 diamond we saw last season.

We all assume it's Lindelöf and Maguire as the first choice CB pair with Shaw & AWB.

The midfield is the interesting bit will he stick with he old war horse in Matic of will he put McTominay in alongside Pogba in that midfield and in the number 10 spot will he go for Lingard or Mata, my guess is it'll be Mata with Lingard playing from the right of the 3 behind the striker, I don't see James or Greenwood starting games just yet.

I like Ole, he's a club legend and could be a good manager for us. But having just read his comments my general reaction is either he's saying what he has to say or he's completely and utterly clueless. I'll opt to believe the former.

What did he say that you didn’t agree with? I think he was spot on about changing the attitudes and identifying and signing the right players who have the vision of the club. Fans are disappointed but if he has a group of lads that he can trust and start to build a team again then I don’t think it’ll be long before we see rewards.

If Dybala wants to come becasue we have CL football, he is not the type of player we are targetting, quite the opposite, which makes more sense of Ole's comment. We want hungry young players who want to get the club back up there. No someone who is only interested in themsleves. I assume Maguire and James, AWB haven't joined to get united into 5th and 6th and maybe get a cup. They are here to get united back up to the top. This is the player we should be targeting for sure

He said he trusts the players that are here. In some cases i hope that means trusts them to be bad and that we can't rely on them.

Not surprising really they gave him plenty of warning that he wasn't wanted anymore and Italian clubs are a lot more ruthless when it comes to forcing players out. They've signed quite a lot of foreign players lately so it might be that they can't actually fit him in as you only get 17 non home grown spots in your 25 man squad.

Sounds like him and his agent were being rather greedy with the English clubs as he didn't really want to come here and this whole 3rd party image rights thing was very complicated for the English clubs as our laws around the way you account for these for tax purposes are different to how it's done in Italy.

The only big club you could maybe see going for him would be Madrid but I don't think they need him or possibly PSG if Neymar leaves and they don't take a player as part of that deal.

Bayern maybe but not sure he's really what they're after they seemed to be after a proper winger rather than a player like Dybala as they were after Hudson-Odoi and Sane before his injury.

He's a very versatile player which makes him useful but he tends to be better when he's more central.

Hard to really say how he'd fit in until we know who the manager is going to be and what system they will want to use.

He's leaving because he wants a stonkingly high wage and Juventus have told him no chance as he isn't reliable 113 goals in 283 games and there's been a bit of a drop off in the last few seasons as well. Kind of known for being a guy who goes missing in the big games as well. If he'd been a bit more reasonable with his wage demands they'd probably have given him a new deal.

What you save on a transfer fee with him you'll pay in wages and I don't think Utd will want another big earner going straight on the books.

If he's willing to come on sensible wages you maybe can take the gamble on him but if he wants £350k a week which is apparently what he asked for at Juve then forget it.

The reports I read were that he wants €10m a year. Which is €200k a week.

Think those figures are after tax as that's how they report in Italy whereas in UK we report the wages before tax.

His current salary from what I can work out is 13m a year (250k a week) which works out to around 7m a year after tax so if he wants 10m a year after tax you are looking at around 15m a year in wages (300k a week.

No doubt now he's on a free he'll be looking for a singing on fee and a big fat cheque for his agent as well just like the Sanchez deal it could get very expensive very quickly.

Given we're building a side over the next 2-3 seasons I'd rather spend some money on a transfer fee and get a guy who's 23/24 and on the way up not a guy who at 28 looks to be on the way down.

Going to take a big budget this summer to solve our problems and prices are going to go nuts if Newcastle start pumping up the prices.

If he's got the right kind of attitude and work rate then sure United should consider him. But he needs to fit the style and system they want to play. He needs to come in and want to work hard. If he doesn't then United should not even consider it.

If ETH is thinking about playing a false 9 system with Ronaldo leaving which he did at Ajax with Tadic then there might be some logic to this type of deal... plus the fact we don't have a bottomless pit of cash.

There are a lot of red flags around this one for me but it maybe is the card we have to play in the current circumstances and see how it goes.

My concern with Dybala would be his work rate. Again I'm not sure he's a fit for the ETH system. That said he's a very talented player.
