Nice to hear about someone who might be coming in rather than another player going out.

They have to find someone who can play on that left side in January

If it's the same scouts who recommended the likes of Hoijland, Zirzee, Antony, Mazaroui and Onana don't touch him with a barge pole.
Lecce are currently 13th in Serie A with a GD of -21, pretty much on a par with us, he doesn't exactly help form a brick wall in defence, does he?

Written off already even before he’s set foot on our pitch!

Not seen anything of him but had heard the name previously being linked with a few top clubs. He sounds like a good prospect and would give us some much needed width and attacking impetus.

I mean given our Serie A scouts have served up gems like Onana, Hojlund and Zirkzee in the last few summers I'd probably be questioning their work as well :p

Maybe plan is for him to play LWB until the summer then sign Kerkez/Mendes/Ait-Nouri and he would switch to RWB

So after all that he's going to Napoli and we're just being used to try and bump up the price.

What I don’t quite understand here is that he is a LB? I thought the thing with Amorims system was that he used wingers in the 3-4-3?

I think the key thing will be that they need a wide player who's left footed so that they can have someone that's willing to go outside and stay wide on that side.

If this lad is a very attacking left back who has quality when he gets into the final third then he could play as a wing back.

The difference with the system was ETH seemed to want his full backs to come inside and overload the midfield whereas Amorim wants them to stay wide to create the width. That I think is where Dalot and Maz are really struggling at the moment.

Translation:

Manchester United will meet Lecce in the afternoon, present in Milan with Corvino who should be joined by Sticchi Damiani. A top offer from the English is needed, Napoli remains alert for June.

Totally agree, we should look elsewhere and let this one go.
Where else are we looking? If this guy has been scouted and represents good value then it is probably the best deal. Someone like Kerkez at Bournemouth, they will probably be looking at even more than that. Same with Mendes at PSG.

We don't want to be in the position where we are being held to ransom, we have to walk away from deals if they don't suit us

Genuine question,
If we get this guy in, who does he replace?

Malacia apparently has a loan move back to Holland lined up if we can get this guy over the line.

Guess is he will be sold back to a club in Holland at end of the season.

Surprised he’s basically being written off already and is being described as some sort of random panicky punt.

This guy was strongly linked to Liverpool a year or two ago but felt like it was too early for him. He’s long been described as a player of promise and at Lecce he has been impressive from what I read.

Think a lot of it comes from those youtube compilations which don't paint him in a good light. There is also that small matter of an opportunity to get Alvaro back for around £16m

Is there not a chance that we end up doing both?

Wing back is a tough position and we will need more than 1 player for either side.

When/If Shaw returns I cannot see him being a wing back

Ideally we get one of them and still go all in for either Kerkez/Ait-Nouri in the summer too
