Olympics 2024 - Paris

Interesting reading an article about this boxer that she's lost 9 of her 50 fights of her 41 wins only 5 have been by stoppage so it isn't like she's some unbeatable machine. I feel a bit sorry for her as she's stuck in the middle of all of this and it isn't really her fault she isn't someone who chose to transition she was born this way.

From what I read today, she is actually a woman, just with high testosterone levels? still unfair, but not the same as someone who has transitioned. If that is the case, I have some sympathy for her, but she shouldnt be boxing.

The article wasn't exatly clear.
Is it unfair? She’s a woman in a woman’s boxing competition?

3 more GB golds today

and looking at the BMX last night, I think a fourth will arrive tonight

The boys and girls are doing us proud, as a republican found myself singing along to God save the King the other day ....

Final total is 65 medals, one more than Tokyo and the same total as London. As a lot of the athletes mentioned in their post-event interviews, the additional funding from The National Lottery appears to have slowly increased our medal return.

yes, I think a few of those medals should have been Gold. But number of medals is excellent.

I enjoyed the Olympics. The womens basketball, France were an inch away :(

I guess it's a case of not being as dominant in the cycling as we were back in 2012 which is why the number of golds has dropped.

As for the Olympics as a whole I really enjoyed it.

the velodrome was a real dissapointment, the women 100/200 track too.

a couple of swim events we should have gold medalled. The mens 1500 track we should have gold medalled, he raced the man not the field.

Boxing was poor, but I do think some of those decisions were a bit suspect.

On the subject of Boxing my post above about Khelife was totally wrong and I'm glad she won the gold.

That ban she received from the IBA looks very fishy and is the exact reason why they are no longer in charge of the sport in terms of the Olympics.

Didn't see the opening ceremony and very little of the closing one but still the greatest show on earth ....

Pity we couldn't pip the Frenchies in the medals table

Absolutely and the IBA has refused to release the test even to IOC and have been suspended long before this. They said it is confidential and cannot be released.
To be honest all this testosterone business is unfair. Someone born without a male organ and with a female organ should be a woman. Not how much testosterone they have. So a male with low testosterone will be a female then?

That's the thing we don't even know what test they did let alone what she apparently failed on. You have to wonder does she even know?

She has been boxing for a few years and now won some and lost some and it never was an issue then. So you wonder why all of a sudden? Surely they would have been testing them for some time now? She has been fighting since 2018 and lost a few fights. Then she beats a Russian to win a Gold medal and then next beat another unbeaten Russian and then was disqualified immediately which restored the Russian;s record.

I'm aware of the story and it's a good example of why the IBA is no longer recognised by the IOC.

Anyone watching the Paralympics.

Team GB doing well. My daughter is off to watch some tomorrow.

Sarah Storey also racing in the time trial

Inspiring stuff

Sarah Storey just won her 19th gold, 30 odd years after her first.

In the road Race, after 70-80km she won by the width of a tyre ahead of the 19 year old French girl. Incredible finish
