Opens up on a lot of stuff.

Obviously not naming names will have people speculating but it's good to hear from him and fair play for being so open about the problems the manager faces.

Stand out to me was sounds like he didn't want to make Maguire his captain but others weren't willing to take it.

He wasn’t helped by a bunch rotten apples in the dressing room.

The authoritarian approach probably doesn’t have as much effect on most players, as it did many years ago. A lot of players have a huge sense of self importance, so don’t take kindly to being managed with an iron fist.

I certainly think some of it was him and his team lacking experience but I also think that dressing room was stacked full of d*ckheads and adding Sancho and Ronaldo to it won't have helped. Ten Hag seems to have got most of them out now but there's still a few knocking about who need to leave.

My guess is not playing to force a move was probably Lukaku but could also have been Cavani at the beginning of last season. I seem to recall Herrera disappearing once he agreed to join PSG at the end of Ole's first season. Lukaku basically sacked off pre season to force the move to Inter that summer as well.

Just sounds like he lost control over them he had them with him for 2 years but when results started to slip he lost them. My guess was he didn't get enough players he didn't want out the door, unhappy players will poison a dressing room culture especially when you get a few bad results.

I'm not sure, I cant see Klopp, Pep in fact quite a few managers taking any rubbsh

I don't think any top manager will stand for it but it's all about how long you get before you can weed out the bad apples who aren't with you and are taking the p*ss.

Both Pep and Klopp had full support of their board and I don't think they inherited anything like the mess Ole did.

yeah, we crapped all over Ole, didn't get enough time in my opinion, and was shafted in the transfer market as all the mangers in their second season.

What did surprise me though, is that he wanted Ronaldo, I assumed that was forced on him.

The quotes are from an interview he did with the athletic.

I haven’t read it but for those with access I’m sure it’s worth a read.
