Old Trafford Revamp

Doubt the owners will be relying on monies from it.

Doesn't Peter Lim own a stake in it? Sure I read somewhere that he's the real money behind most of what the class of 92 lads do, they're minority investors who just provide the public face to it all.

I suspect the long term plan from all of them was that eventually the club would buy it off them and until they do they'll just take a nice little dividend out of the profits every year.

Didn't they offer free accommodation to nurses during the Pandemic or was that the other gaff they purchase in Manchester?

Think it was both, the one in town was used to help the homeless for a while but think that was pre Covid.

Got upset the other day, I'm in my last knockings so I won't get to see the rebuild completed or a new build. Bummer. Can they not just leave it as it is till I get my calling, not that i'm being selfish mind.

Can't be wasting money in the North when there's another £279bn needed to build a pointless underground link so those poor lambs in London don't have to walk 100 yards if it's raining ....

I mean there are many things the north need more than a new stadium.

If you don't ask you don't get I guess.

Unlikely the next government are going to put any money into this sort of project

It was a very long shot but there’s no way Westminster will send money up here for a new stadium.

I reckon he's probably looking for money towards the overall development of the area rather than the stadium itself.

The club will need to pay for the stadium but will the government kick in some money towards upgrading the transport infrastructure around the stadium or other areas that he'd like to see regenerated around the ground.

Rumours today SJR thinks it will take 20 years.

Council have said they wont fund anything.

No real surprise, most Councils in the North are having to dip into the reserve funds just to keep some of the parks and libraries open.

The whole redevelopment/regeneration master plan might take 20 years.

The stadium build should be the catalyst that starts the rest just look at Wembley. That stadium opened 20 years ago and they’re still building up around it.

The money needs to come from central government not local councils they’re broke.

Got a point!

Should invite one of the Singh bros at least.

I would reserve judgement until the full task force is appointed.

Nah it'll be be too little too late, could nearly understand if it was just the football side of it ie. the Stadium, but when there's talk of regeneration of large areas in and around the Stadium as well. and in the current climate it's a faux pas deluxe.

They’ll probably need to refinance the current loans as part of any borrowing for the stadium.

Sure I remember reading that the club tends to pay off that revolving cash facility (the credit card) throughout the year every season.

I guess the question is will the stadium development happen before SJR buys out the remaining Glazer shares or will they stick around for the stadium work. Personally I think they’ll be gone before any work on the stadium starts.

Everything at the moment seems to point towards a new ground rather than a redevelopment.

You do it all the time. Any chance you give posters who don't have 'X' formerly twitter accounts or those who the article(s) doesn't load for what your posts are about. TIA

Aren't those articles behind paywalls? That might be your issue.

Obviously all the videos yesterday don't look good, water gushing into the stadium but that rain was according to many the worst rain ever witness in Manchester it would test any building to it's absolute limit.

Admittedly I haven't been up for 4 years but it was far from a dump it was just no longer the best around which is what it was during the 90's and 00's and that is down to the owners.

Still feels a very long way from a new stadium being ready.

Wasnt just the stadium, the away changing rooms were leaking badly too

Has that been confirmed? Always a bit wary of video's like that.

If it's going to leak anywhere it might as well be there.

The one of the water coming down in front of one of the boxes was pretty worrying shows there's huge problems with that roof. Think they've said they're aware of it but the repair will take 4-6 months, essentially it's knackered and needs to be replaced.

If that rain came 15-20 minutes earlier the game might not have finished the pitch was basically under water.
