Noussair Mazraoui

It's not fashion it's based on watching him for 5 years. You can't watch him every week and think he looks anywhere near as smooth on the ball as our other full backs.

Some of it is probably exaggerated by the fact he looks a bit awkward in the way he moves as doesn't look graceful in his actions but when I watch him I see a player who for premier league standards is average on the ball and that's why he'll probably end up at a mid table side rather than a side pushing for titles.

i would rather extend AWB than get this player, he's no better, has no prem experience, and comes with baggage.

But really we should be looking at upgrading Dalot and putting him on the bench.

Its that first 11 that needs looking at

You think the top clubs are looking at Mazraoui

Would have to ask his agent but how many top clubs are in the market for a backup right back this summer?

I don't get the impression that his agents phone is ringing off the hook with enquiries about him but my guess would be if clubs were looking for a cheap right back for the squad he'd be on a lot of their lists.

If these clubs needed that player my guess is they'd be looking at a player like Mazraoui.

So what is the difference between him and AWB?

I don't think anyone has answered

How is getting this player any better than offering AWB a contract? It doesn't upgrade the first 11, it doesn't improve the reserve, he has no prem experience and he could get us in the papers over Israel/Palestine

stupid

You used this an excuse for getting rid of AWB, but the replacement, at best, is the same.

Just seems daft. I want us upgrading.

There must be better RB options in the world,

Mazraoui at Bayern ranked in the Top 5% of FB in Europe for (per 90)pass accuracy (87.90%)Short passes completed (35)Progressive passes (6.93)Passes into final third (6.30)Goal-creating actions from passes (0.44)Tackles in the final 3rd (0.44)

Maybe AWB has informed the powers that be that he won’t be renewing his contract?

He is an upgrade on AWB for sure. There is a reason why Bayern wanted him and now we want him.

Surprised at that considering he only played 19 matches and got 3 assist and his crossing accuracy is almost half of that of AWB.

Though I suppose that's per 90. Trent probably ranks in the top 5% for all as well but there is a reason he isn't trusted at right back.

His crossing does seem a big issue too with Garnacho and Antony we actually need a full back that can cross down that side.

I just think the guy shows some promise. If he can remain fit and push for a spot, then that's perfect. AWB has had long enough now to show he's good enough, but in a lot of seasons I think all any of us see is an average player. Let's try something new.

I haven’t watched him anywhere near as much as I’ve watched AWB but straight away I’d say going forward he’s a lot better but it’s based on the few games I’ve seen.

Should we not sign any Jewish or Muslim players because of the fighting? I suspect he’s probably learnt his lesson over sticking his head above the parapet on that one.

There is also the PSR issue to consider with AWB which means he has to be sold this summer and the guy coming in is someone who the manager knows well and played the best football of his career under the manager. Got to put a bit of trust in their judgment that they think this guy is an upgrade.

There probably are but are they for sale at a price we can afford?

I just want to see things change there aren’t many players outside of the prem who I could say I’ve watched play more than 10 times so most players we sign are a complete mystery to me.

You know that's not what I said. I was referring to him speaking out on the subject. So that's a silly thing to imply. But if we have a player posting pro videos for either side. It will be huge news. I hope they've had a word.

And as for trusting him because he's played for the manager, see Antony and a couple of others.

I know I took it to the extreme but are we also against Rashford speaking out to try and get kids fed through summer holidays that was a political situation that our player stuck his neck out on.

One is taking about poor children, one is talking about a very complicated situation on the brink of war in the middle east that also causes violent protests.

Personally, I think there is a difference.

A situation where innocent kids are getting killed.

Yup, lots of innocent people getting killed. It's disgusting.

But if you cannot see the difference, let's just stop.

Poor signing for me.

I can of course see the difference but it still falls into the same realm which is when your players start showing support for things outside of football especially involving politics not everyone is going to like what they've got to say.

it's completly different

One is about poor children getting food at lunchtime in your home town. Don't think anybody opposed that.

The other is a very complicated problem 80 odd years old, that causes immense tension between two religions and infinite countries. That is about to break out into all out war. You cannot post support for either side when you play for a high profile club.

He also showed support for a player where on an international day against homophobia he refused to play which did not go down well with Bayern fans.

If you want a player like as the club, then good on you.

I say there must be better around. Certainly one not so controversial

Look we can agree to disagree and I don't support what Mazraoui has said but he has a right to express his opinion.

The support of the Toulouse player is difficult as players are often asked to take part in campaigns that support certain issues they might have strong feelings against for political or religious reasons. In some cases showing support to these causes can put their families in danger in their home country because they are against the governments stance there. In some countries homosexual relationships are illegal.

Ten Hag really is trying to get the "old band" back together with all these signings.

he has a right to express his opinion.
he doesn't when it brings controversy towards the club.

You dont see Salah or anyone else spouting off.

As for the Toulouse player, he didn't need to offer his support, it was nothing to do with him. Pleased the Munich fans had a go at him for that.

Sounds like wholly unlikeable person.

Also amazed you cannot see the difference between free kids lunches and the Israel/Palestine crisis. Crazy

I swear you sometimes back yourself into a corner and you just can't say you're wrong, in fact you double down.

No way is starting a charity to support free kids meals the same as mouthing of about the middle east crisis where thousand of innocent people are being killed and tortured.

I swear you sometimes back yourself into a corner and you just can't say you're wrong, in fact you double down.

I think sometimes you just don't get the point I'm making and maybe that's me not putting it across clearly.

So let me make it as simple as a I can in terms of the point I'm trying to get across.

1)You can either have robots who don't say anything that isn't about football and keep their opinion on anything outside of football totally private and hidden away.
or
2)You can have people who will make their views on things outside of football public.

I think we both agree we'd rather have number 2, players should be free to express their views in public if they want to.

The issue with number 2 is you aren't always going to agree with what that player has to say because it isn't always going to align with your views on a situation.

there is a difference between airing your views on kids free lunches than showing support for anti Israel and pro the attacks 7th Oct (or if one should, the opposing view) Also difference being anti gay rights in my opinion. Is ok for someone to say racist things? no it's not.

clearly there is a massive difference.

He did not support the terror attacks against Isreal he showed support to Palestian people who as a result of those attacks were being bombed to bits by Isreal. He faced no punishment by Bayern Munich or the German FA over it. I haven't seen the actual social media post.

His support for a team mate who didn't want to support a pride campaign. That comes down to do you think players should be forced to participate in these campaigns if they don't believe in it. His team mate didn't want to wear a special shirt which he felt didn't align to his religious beliefs he is not the first Muslim player to be put in that position. Some just get on with it others take a stand. Personally when it comes to these campaigns your participation should be voluntary not mandatory and every player should have the freedom to make that decision.

Lets just let everyone be racist, anti gay everything then. Let them speak out about israel/palestine. Wear pro Hamas or IDF tee's

No way would we be all over the press. Doesn't matter what BM did, plenty of other clubs had the balls to drop players.

re: the rainbow, I suggest if they cannot get on with their clubs rules, or like the laws in the country they work. They stay in countries that their doctrine follows. But thats besides the point. It was nothing to do with him, he should stay out of it. He wasn't being asked to do anything.

I'm saying no more.

Sounds very unlikeable, and as we did Greenwood, we should show some morals.

I agree I will leave it there.

If the mods want to delete my posts no problem it's taken this thread to a place it shouldn't have gone.

Two good signings in terms of what ETH need. In Dalot De Ligt Martinez and Shaw you've got 3 defenders who are comfortable receiving the ball under pressure and finding a pass.

Add to that Yoro, Amass and Maz you've got players coming in that are comfortable at it too.
