Noussair Mazraoui | Match Discussion Thread 2024/25

Fantastic all rounder.

Like a new John O’Shea stick him anywhere and he can give you a 7/10 job.

Will we see him in between the sticks at some point?

This guy was an absolute steal for what we got him for. He’s so good in all facets of the game.

Current player of the season surely. Second best signing we've made post Fergie.

I don't like this about him, I cited that before he came, just been side trecked by his performances

If the other players want to, they should be allowed

The other players were allowed to do it but they chose not to as they didn't want to bring attention to Maz not doing it.

Bruno still wore the armband.

As I said at the time it's his right to decide if he wants to take part in these awareness campaigns or not and if he doesn't want to do it for religious reasons then he should not be forced to do it.

He's an excellent player but I really dislike this about him and struggle to see him as a player I want to cheer for. Frankly his views are bigoted, religious or not, and we should never have signed him. We got him cheap from Bayern because many there felt a man with his views had no place in the club.

The fact that this caused all the other players to pull back in solidarity makes it ten times worse. What message does that send?

Ironically that we are all in this together. Classy gesture from the players, and club

I'm not sure, his views shouldn't dictate what everbody else does.

And I'm not sure we should be signing players like this. All the while these views exist in football it's harder for somebody from that community to come out.

Or is it that one bigot can dictate the agenda for everyone else? I wish he didn't play for us, even though he's a very good player.

Hardly dictating, the players/club had the chance to leave him standing alone, they chose not too. Spares us from the devided dressing-room overused by the hacks when we have a few iffy results for the forseeable if nothing else ....

Mountain molehill.

but does put us all over the news for the wrong reasons.

And what about the players who wanted to, like previous seasons.

It's not right.

As good as he is, I don't want players like him at the club

You might as well admit you don't want Muslims at the club, because that's what it boils down to.

If that's how you feel, fine. own it

it's not that all

I don't want people who are not inclusive of everyone. Just like I wouldn't want an open racist at the club

I'm even more dismayed they have stopped all the other players. I would wear it regardless. I have principles

also re: you point, I didn't say he should be forced to wear it, I said others shouldn't be stopped.

Should at least retract the comment re: me not wanting muslims at the club. Becasue I never said that and it's false

And for those who thinks it reflects badly on the club, forget it, no club on the planet shows more support for the communities most affected, and everybody knows it

If it offended you, and I tried to word it in such a way I didn't call you, I apologise

But you are long enough in the tooth to know those driving the it's fecking disgusting agenda most will be Racists, sad but true.

it didn't offend me, it's just not true, and I don't think people should attach opinions to others that are false.

I think the vast majority of players stick these logos on without any thought.

Within every squad there will be some who really care about supporting it, others who don’t and others who aren’t arsed.

Maz comes from a country where homosexuality is illegal and his religion (like most religions) has certain interpretations that are anti homosexuality.

Him supporting a campaign like this could cause him and possibly his family some issues back home. If he doesn’t want to be a poster boy of support then he’s free to say no.

I think we have to be appreciative of all religions and races.

But the club have got it majorly wrong here. Maz should do what he wants. The club should do what we believe.

It was the players decision not to take part not the club.

That is what was reported by the athletic.

Depends what report you read.

I can't believe there isn't one player who disagreed.

Also, why wear the badges and the armband. Either you support it or don't. It should be a players own decision, not a group decision. Because not all the group would agree

I said this would happen, all over the news for the wrong reasons

The athletic reported that not every players supported the decision to ditch the warm up jackets but the final outcome was the players decided.

We don’t know how they came to that call was it a majority vote or a decision by the captain or senior players.

The only player who wore anything was Bruno as captain. All the other players wore normal kit.

The club and some of the players also put out a lot of stuff on the social media channels supporting the campaign.

There are many people who do not support homosexuality. So if Maz does not support it then why should he have to wear an armband to support it? the club as an institution supports it as they said. it is like wearing the Poppy issue.

He is free to hold whatever opinions he pleases. And I am free to think he shouldn't play for Manchester United with such opinions, no matter how good he might be. Bayern seem to agree.

It has got nothing to do with homosexuality and Bayern. He posted a pro Palestine post and that was the problem with him and Bayern. What has his not supporting homosexuality got to do with him playing for any club? he has not said anything against them just refused to wear an armband supporting it.

I do think as a club regardless of Maz's beliefs we should have made a point that we are an everybody is welcome club and is Mazraouri can't accept that then that's on him to deal with. His thoughts and beliefs shouldn't impact on the club making a stand.

I do find it harder to like him as a player knowing he clearly has homophonic tendencies. Same way we hated Suarez for being a racist.
