Noussair Mazraoui | Match Discussion Thread 2024/25

Just had a little read on it, seems it's nothing too complex. Glad about that considering it's the heart.

Has this just been noticed? Not that long ago he will have had a medical to join the club.

In January 2023, Mazraoui was diagnosed with an inflammation of heart tissue after suffering from Covid-19 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which meant he was sidelined for around six weeks.

‘Noussair Mazraoui is out initially after a Covid infection,’ a statement from Bayern Munich read at the time.

‘A follow-up examination in Munich after the World Cup revealed a mild inflammation of the pericardium, which the defender will now cure.’

It seems like it is common knowledge and our people should have known about it if they did their homework.

What's more worrying is, he was already supposed to have had it fixed.

Or even more worryingly, this is a different problem with his heart.

A dodgy ticker is the last thing you need watching Utd let alone playing for them.

again, I didn't see that at all.

Pretty poor, gave the ball away, couldn't gain control, but what do expect from a RB FFS. Why not play Amad in there. Or Eriksen and start Cas. This manager is baffling somethimes.

Not sure how fit Amad and Cas are.

Amad was out of the internationals and Cas came off at the weekend. Maybe had 1 eye on West Ham with him.

Maz played his part in the goal and had a decent effort saved (that was after he moved to left back).

Think we had 10 players out last night things are going to look a little odd.

we had 11 internationals on the pitch.

A 600m+ squad. Injuries are no excuse.

anyway, no point going over old ground. But there must have been a better option than a RB at no 10.

Start Antony and put Rashford in there, start Hojlund and drop Zirkzee back

It just highlights the huge problems in this team and this squad. And ETH has to take the responsibility for that. No wonder they can't find a manager to take the job on.

He’s clearly managing fitness levels of a number of players.

He also said after the game he didn’t want to start with 4 attacking players he was clearly being a little more cautious.

We only had 3 midfielders travel so he was always going to keep 1 on the bench just in case.

As for the squad we know it’s a mess but you can thank the Glazers for that. The lack of structure for a decade has resulted in every manager being able to sign whoever they want and execs who haven’t got a club signing off ridiculous deals.

I think we all hope that has now changed but it won’t be fixed over night.

Always gives 100% which is something you can't say for most of the squad. Tidy on the ball too. Slowly becoming one of my favourite players in the team.

He’s looking an absolute steal at the price we got him for. He’s so good on the ball, I think he will work well in an Amorim system as one of the wing backs.

He is a very good player. Only that he is not a number 10 and never was.

Mourinho and his playing career disagree.

Mourinho stated in his post match press conference he expected him to play #10 because he's played there many times in his career.

Also he played as an advanced midfielder many times for Ajax. (For literally an entire season)

So the never was is obviously false.

I think @justintime was probably just meaning that he is not a natural number 10 so was never really a firm candidate there for us.

If someone has the skillset to play there doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. ETH did play him there for Ajax but in a poorer league so not surprised he did okay but against Fenerbahce he looked a little like a deer in headlights.

Once we get a fit left back, I think Maz easily takes Dalot’s right back position.

I mean he played 1 game there in an injury crisis wasn't like it was some sort of tactically master plan.

He's been a big upgrade on Wan Bissaka in my opinion.

Watched the first 60 minutes and he looked bright. Good going forwards and plenty of energy. I suspect Amorim will like him.

We had all sorts of players in all sorts of positions but that doesn't mean they are good players in that position. And you believe what Jose says as the gospel truth in a post match presser?

I didn’t mention the special one!

You have to wonder why Bayern didn't want to keep him at this point. He's a great player, and his best ability is being press resistant. You can't say that about a lot of our players, that's why he stands out.

they had to sell him to buy a player. They had other options for a RB.
