I wonder what the fate of Memphis will be this summer?

If LVG remains in charge I'd fully expect him to get another year to prove himself. If it's another manager I fear he might be in for the chop.

He's got bags of ability and potential but in the harsh climate of English football (and I don't mean the weather) he's struggling. Defenders are that bit better, smarter or quicker. His decision making has to be spot on otherwise the opportunity is gone. And that's why I think we've seen flashes but nothing consistent yet.

He's got the raw tools with his pace, power, skill and shooting ability. He just needs to learn the way of the game over here. If he can do that he'll be a force I'm sure of it. And I'd hate for us to give up on him only for another Premier League team to take a chance and strike gold.

I think Memphis will be given another season, whoever the manager is. I would be surprised if the club looked to move on a young talent after a disappointing first season.

Inconsistent performances are understandable, but the lack of work-rate without the ball has been disappointing.

I disagree on the pace point. He isn't slow, but he isn't quick.

This should be no question for the club and I'm pretty sure it isn't. We have a poor board but even they aren't that bonkers. De Gea and Shaw wouldn't be with us any more if we decided after one season.

I think Memphis has a fair bit of pace. Was he not clocked as one of the fastest at the last world cup?

He's certainly not the quickest for sure but he's got enough to frighten defenders.

Very good point made about Shaw and DDG though red7! Though a lot will I'm sure depend on who's in charge. His lack of work rate won't sit well with mourinho for example.

Memphis is quicker than we've seen. I think it's a result of mis-management, has struggled physically in first season but no reason he can't come back next season and be much better like Shaw did at the start of this season as mentioned, hopefully he does what Shaw did last summer and put work in during the off season.

Media desperate to see him fail, picking on stupid things like his car and his dress sense. Picking on his price tag too which wasn't too much in any case these days, £25m is pretty standard now.

Whilst I agree that the media pick on silly things I think that comes with being a bit of an extrovert.

If you're going to have flash cars, wear different clothes and generally present yourself that way then you are a target. Ronaldo was the same but ultimately he let his football do the talking. As a result what he did in his own time faded in to the background.

Nobody cares what a footballer does off the field when they perform on it. Nobody cares if you hit the town hard if you've had a big performance. But those performances drop and you become a target.

I'm not saying its right what the media do but it comes with the territory. Look at the young lad at Villa. Started well and everything raved about him. Then results and performances turned and he's cast out.
