Really excited to see what he can bring to our defence. He had an up and down time at Juventus and Bayern but the talent is clearly there. This is a great chance for him to really kick on.

Sounds like some Bayern fans are fuming he was sold and for so cheap, so that’s a plus that there wasn’t a consensus that he was happy to be seen the back of.

Yeah, they really like him. I read a few Bayern forums recently, and that is definitely how they feel.

I'm very happy with our CB options now.

One of the positives from today, thought he looked assured and strong at the back.

Think he did tire a little with a lack of game time but promising signs for the future.

Thought he did ok a 7/10 not much he could do about any of the goals and didn’t give Jota a sniff all game.

Yeah, he was decent. Looking forward to watching him bully attackers. I liked his yellow card.

I think the yellow was stupid same for Martinez.

It was a needless yellow just cheap way of winning over fans.

Another poor performance for Netherlands, gave another goal away, subbed at half time

Made a mistake and got punished probably best to get those out of his system on international duty. Manager threw him under the bus a bit after the game as well so De Ligt is going to need to go about proving him wrong on the pitch.

He had a mare on Saturday, was lucky the manager picked him apparantly

I didn't see either game think he got blamed for one of the Bosnia goals on Saturday and against Germany his pass into midfield was intercepted and punished.

He's only just come back into the national side so not a great start for him.

I didnt either :)

I read he said he played sh!t on Saturday. And last night he gave a goal away, and the manager took him off for his own benefit

A lot of what I read was former players saying they thought Koeman had been harsh on him by subbing him as it didn't protect him it scapegoated him but think he's had quite a few ropey performance for the national team over the last few years.

The mistakes was clear though he played a pass that wasn't on which Germany pounced on and punished which did swing the momentum in the game according to reports. The Dutch apparently could have been 2 or 3 up then he made a mistake and Germany turned it on them.

De Ligt looks like a player who has a lot of eyes and focus on him he's going to need a good run of games to try and get this "error prone" tag off his back and build his confidence.

A goal and a goal line clearance. He was aggressive and defended on the front foot. Did well.

Really good again today. I would like to see Yoro and him as the partnership when he’s fit.

I like him think he’s a better version of Maguire and gives us a threat on set pieces as he really attacks the ball.

On the set pieces thing he's made us a complete different threat. But has to score that big opportunity.

Yeah he didn’t look great today, the signs have been promising so far but this was by far his poorest performance.

Europa League: Porto 3-3 Manchester United - 3rd October 2024

His lack of quality on the ball when under pressure is a worry.

He’s a big lad but physically Samu dominated him tonight. Beaten to the ball twice on crosses tonight by the striker.

Certainly doesn’t feel like we are seeing a good partnership develop between him and Martinez.

There was another incident where his legs got all tangled up and he missed the ball.
Is that the Philogene chance that Dalot blocked? If so the ball was behind him so not as bad as you describe.

I thought he looked good when he came on, could be because he wasn’t next to the chaotic Martinez. Evans does bring a sense of calm back there.

he's getting unfairly criticised in my view.

Zirkzee can get away with being crap because he's settling into a new league

I think De Ligt has done well

Think he got away with one at the end to be honest.

Didn't get his feet sorted and let the ball through him which luckily their player smashed straight at Dalot.

Anyone writing on the Zirkzee thread about all the balls that bounced off his shin and his passing to nobody?

no they are not.

a couple of people have said he needs to improve, blah blah.

not pointing out all his mistakes throughout the game. De Ligt makes one mistake and it's brought to the front. Zirkzee was absolute garbage yesterday. I am amzed he is a professional footballer after some of his touches

He gets unfairly criticised compared to others - De Ligt that is

I think he's been pretty solid.

Not as impressive as Maz, but players settle in at different rates. The new players still have plenty of time to prove themselves.
