Mason Greenwood Charges Dropped

not been given a squad number on the info released so far. I guess that can change

It's not really a surprise.

I saw some photos in the papers of him training in a park which to be honest to me looked staged.

Is that a sign that he's coming back or an attempt to get interest from other clubs as he's been told he's not coming back.

Would have thought it would have been announced what’s happening by now. I imagine the decision has been decided but thought it was going to be done by the time the season starts.

Sounds like it’s just going to be an unwelcome distraction.

push comes to shove, football wise, all charges dropped therefore innocent (even though most of us heard it) and he's probably one of the best young players in world football

A group of Manchester United supporters is planning a series of protests to make it clear they do not want Mason Greenwood to be reintegrated into the club’s plans.

The protestors, all regular Old Trafford match-goers, intend to make their feelings clear outside the stadium before United’s opening game of the season at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

A banner has been made in United’s colours with the message: “Female Fans Demand No Greenwood Return – End Violence Against Women.”

“It’s time for the club to stand up and make the right decision,” one of the organisers told The Athletic, speaking on condition of anonymity due to fears of being targeted by Greenwood’s supporters. “It’s time to say, ‘We have high standards at United about how we expect players to conduct themselves and, if you do not meet those standards, you need to be moved out.’

“This is a tipping point for the club. Are they going to side with commercialism and trophies and money? Or are they going to take the side of match-going fans and the club being a social and community institution that we can be proud of, and proud to have as part of our identity?”

Greenwood, 21, has not played for United since he was arrested in January 2022 relating to a tape being released on social media of an alleged sexual attack.

He subsequently faced a police investigation resulting in charges against him for attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Greenwood denied all the alleged offences.

Nothing wrong with having an opinion if they want to go around calling it a club and saying football without fans is nothing then they need to listen to fans.

I support what they've said I don't want him anywhere near the club.

You give 'em an inch ....

You can't have fans dictate who can and can't play for the club ffs. Next stage anarchy.

I think your fans should be dictating where the line in the sand is on moral issues rather than issues of ability.

Words fail me which is just as well

Suppose you are gonna demand the club isn't bought by those Women abusers from Qatar then, maybe take it up with those other attention seekers, the 1958 or whatever the feck the call themselves. Record it, maybe put it on whatever platform one puts such content on these days,, could do with a good laugh ....

RIGHT THAT'S ME DEFINITELY DONE.

I'd rather Qatar didn't buy the club if I'm totally honest, I don't think Utd should be owned by a state regardless of their policies.

Well you clearly know what they call themselves and fair play to them for doing something about the ownership, about time someone started calling them out for the way they've treated the club over the last 20 years.

I'll stick to voicing my opinion on forums leave the you tube stuff to those who are in to that.

The club has delayed any announcement regarding his future.

Gut feeling is if he was coming back then he'd be back in training already, my impression is they're keen to sell him and will probably delay any announcement about his return with us until the transfer window shuts.

Just read an article that said we are still discussing with major sponsors and want to consult the United women who are the WC. Surely this all should have been done already?

My gut feeling is that he will probably ultimately go but we sure are dragging it out.

Feels to me like a stalling statement.

They probably want to avoid making any statements on it if they can get him out the door.

Fair play my backside, if you or I are not happy about how the club is run you/I have the option to find another club, it's as simple as that.

Yeah quite possibly but if they are only consulting the women’s team now, what have they been doing for the last few months!

I think a decision has been made but they are just waiting to make it public. I fully expect to see him back playing for us now.

There will obviously be a backlash and he’s going to have to endure some stick.

Won't just be the away fans going at him though the home fans aren't going to be fully behind him.

Yep he’ll no doubt get it from all angles but I guess that’s something he will expect. It’s whether he can handle the constant abuse.

I think this is going to massively blow up in Utd's face once they realise how split the fan base is going to be on this.

Newsnight just aired a very critical segment.

I think there's no doubt Greenwood acted like a total shit. What I don't know is what has happened since in terms of regret, remorse, learning etc. Is he still a shit? Is redemption possible?

All that aside, what's most disappointing is that as a global brand, supposedly managed by top professionals, the club's control of the PR side has been absolutely dire.

What annoys me the most are the people that say 'It can't determine the rest of his life. He can still be a footballer but just not at United. Somewhere else'.

That's not wanting to punish him or having a problem with him that's a different issue. Was someone in the Athletic that said it today and was shocked to see it on an article from them.

I don’t think he’s going to play for United again. If he were then I think they’d have announced it already.

Rumours today of a U turn and he will not return.

Utd as one of the biggest clubs in the world should set the standard of where the line is in terms of tolerable behaviour and it’s time to make a stand here in my opinion.

He is a free man and has a right to pursue whatever career he chooses but Utd has a right to say they don’t want his services regardless of talent this guy is now toxic and cannot return here.
